[Can potentially feature mature content: such as violence, heavy language, morally questionable cyborg researchers]

Plot: Originally, at the Almandia National University in Nyumick, Almandia, with the sponsorship of multiple organizations and international government sponsors, a special cybernetics research department was made where researchers did the experimentation on themselves. Though there was a big secret about the department: It was a military research department and all the sponsors were shady in some way, ranging from dictatorships to ruthless corporations that had their own militaries. Additionally, the all female research group had a couple screws loose. They all had questionable morality and fulfilled some sort of mad scientist trope.

Once the Almandia government found out about the true purpose of the department, the department was shut down and the arrest of the researchers was ordered. The researchers managed to escape, albeit it lead to the deaths of a few Almandian police officers and military personnel. The researchers ended up in the small neighboring country of Yotland in a smaller coastal city and have to use disguises to be able to continue their research. Despite having their disguises (such as teacher, janitor, magic tutor or even maid in a maid cafe), they still face potential assassins from Almandia and other countries trying to stop them. Also many of the sponsors have stopped funding.

Premise: You are one of the researchers. Due to reasons they are female or at least appear to be female. Despite being a researcher, you are pretty dangerous and a little unhinged. You possibly have even killed someone before. While you do your cybernetics research and improve your own body, you will be targeted by assassins.

Setting: Yotland, city of Jogrun (country and city can potentially be turned into a more "Japanese setting" if wanted). Population around 150,000. On one side is the coast and the other side a wide plain with occasional woods. The city itself seems to be fully illuminated at night with shopping arcades, underground pedestrian streets and massive apartment blocks. While not as ugly as Nyumick and the skyscrapers not as high, a handful of corporate buildings still give off an uneasy feeling of evil. A metro line goes around the city. Crime is rather common. And partially cybernetic civilians and gangs roam the inner city.

Lair/underground lab: In a smaller underground pedestrian street, there is a rundown building front for a place called "Jogrun Southsavonian Institute of Technology". It is known to a college run by the authoritarian Southsavonian government and a hidden space of it serves as the lair and research lab for the exiled researchers. Most people didn't know that the college is still operational and only a handful of students attend it. It is said to have dirt cheap tuition, but at the same time it's reputation isn't that great, not only due to it's connection with Southsavonia but also due to the state and equipment of it as well as it's remoteness within the underground part of the city.

Tech: Futuristic. Cyborgs exist, even full body ones. The researchers/protagonists are highly likely to be full body cyborgs. Advanced cyborgs can even transform. For the researchers, it is possible that they may have multiple bodies as their brains are in a case that can just be transferred between bodies. Cybernetics allow fast travel, inhuman strength, high durability and so on. Civilian mods tend to be only things that people can brag with, such as a paint coat, built in lights, speakers or entertainment tech. Whereas "illegal" military tech, includes built in weapons, hacking modules, scanners and so on. Also too heavy modifications of brains can cause psychotic breakdowns in which people can die one way or the other.

Consumer tech in most instances uses mana crystals or power lines that transport terrestrial mana from large mana core crystals deep in the earth. House appliances and consumer tech mostly use a different type of mana than that which people use. However in emergencies, even one's own mana can be used for consumer tech. Phones and mobile computing can be effortlessly charged with one's own mana.

Magic: There are various types of magic out there. The types of magic available are fire, water, air/lightning, earth (water + air = ice; earth + fire = metal), light/healing, dark/necromancy, abyssal, summoning, illusion, combat magic/ability enhancement, animal magic and enchanting.

Explanations:

Abyssal magic is basically demon magic and corruption magic. While it is not as taboo as necromancy, it is still pretty frowned upon.

Healing magic can heal wounds and normal illnesses (if enough mana is used). Healing magic cannot regenerate body parts, heal terminal or vegetative illnesses and anyone who is dead for more than ten minutes cannot be revived with healing magic.

Countries:

Almandia - A wealthy country in the center of the old world continent. It is one of the most populous nations on the continent and is the main producer of much consumer manatech. It's system is democratic. It has neutral to positive relations with most nations on the old world continent. Has negative relations to Ruzalania. Relations to Southsavonia are complicated. [Architecture is central European]

Southsavonia - A single party dictatorship in the south-east of the old world continent. While it is said to be a rather "benevolent dictatorship" there is still little political freedom there and a small number of political prisoners are known. Some shady things are said to happen there, but there hasn't been concrete evidence yet. It is similar in size to Almandia, but has only about half the population. Exports are cars, heavy industry goods, STEM students and avantgarde art. Has a small cybernetics sector. [Virtually fantasy Yugoslavia]

Yotland - A small country to the north of Almandia. It has many island in the inland sea. Climate is temperate. Yotland is known for decent universities and exports medical technologies, mana crystals and some consumer manatronics. [Kind of a mix of Denmark and Estonia]

Ruzalania - A large country to the northeast. Climate is cold. Government is a one party dictatorship and more authoritarian than that of Southsavonia. Main exports are resources [metals, mana crystals, polymers]. On bad terms with Almandia and Southsavonia. On neutral terms with Yotland. [You can probably guess this one]

Sparancia - A large country to the southwest of the continent. Warm climate. It is a democracy and mainly exports cars, some manatech, tools and textiles. On relatively good terms with every nation on the old world continent. [And this one]

Niponya - An island nation in the far east of the known world. One of the main exporters of manatronics and civilian cybernetics. Many shady megacorporations come from here. Niponya is one of the last nations to have a representative monarchy. [Japan]

Rules: 1. Protagonists are female or appear female.
2. Please post regularly or let everyone know when you can't post.
3. A minimum of 150 words per post is expected. Please give something people can interact with. Don't leave people on cliffhangers.
4. You can have multiple characters, but to have more than one character, you need to make at least a protagonist character.
5. Don't be super descriptive on violence. A little gore would be allowed, but keep it brief.

Finally, if you are interested, please say if it should be cyberpunk or arcanepunk. Arcanepunk would be with mana and magic and I will have to add a little to it.

Something I forgot to add: Each of the cyborg researchers has a personalized shape on their face (usually on cheek or forehead. Can be anything from a tattoo to a mole or birthmark in their personalized shape. For example a star shaped birthmark) and on certain cybernetic parts. It is identification of sorts.

Potentially they'd have like an encrypted identification signal to identify each other when in different appearances, but that is still in the stars.

I was going to make one. But it would be the minimum required things for a CS and if anyone wanted to add stuff to it, they could. But lemme get home and I can make a CS and add the magic part for it to be arcanepunk.

Also with Arcanepunk, should in extreme cases "brain cases" exist or should it be soul crystals? Soul crystals might be a bit lich-y though as technically they could be undead that way.

But anyways, I will add a few details now and make a character thread as well as a main thread. Should I go and make an OOC too or are we going to use this as OOC?

Also should I leave it at humans or should we allow elves and demi-humans in the mix (like anthropomorphic animals, which probably would result in kemono-robos existing in the world)?

But I'd say, the cyborgs can be anywhere from squishy human with soft skin almost indistinguishable from a non-cyborg to full on robot appearance.

Before she was originally given a cybernetic body for medical reasons, she had long dark blond hair that was usually braided, green eyes and wore glasses. She was also petite and wheelchair bound. Her main appearance when not in disguise is similar, but taller and without glasses.

Her second disguise is of a student, standing at 1.65m with long dark brown hair usually tied in a pony tail or bun, fair skin, turquoise eyes and wearing glasses.

Personal symbol: Heart shape. In her disguise, her mole is this shape. In her main body, she has this on her cheek in red.
Clothing style: In main body, she wears blouses or turtlenecks with skirts and a long cardigan or a leggings with a knee-length turtleneck dress and a long cardigan. When doing work on gadgets or bodies, she wears a sleeveless black unitard with red highlights and a black choker.

Her main disguise tends to wear a blouse with a short skirt, thigh highs, ballerina flats and a choker as well as a lab coat while at work. Outside of work, she will dress similarly to how she dresses in her main body, but with shorter skirts, thigh highs and always a choker.

Her student disguise wears a blue sailor collar uniform with a yellow tie like in the pic with a matching blue choker. When meeting up outside of "school", she wears frilly button up blouses with long skirts and a cardigan often with either the blue choker or a black lacey one.

Cybernetics: Fully cybernetic. She has three bodies. Her main body has her original appearance and has skin that has a somewhat unnatural shine due to it being a reactive armor. It features various hidden weapons including a mouth cannon.

Her second body is her main disguise body and is more squishy, featuring realistic looking skin, however a titanium alloy skeleton just in case. This body is quite a bit lighter than her main body, but not as durable. The combat capabilities of this body are limited to enhanced strength and agility.

Her third body is another disguise, but as a student and is therefore her shortest body standing at 1.65m. Like her main disguise, her only combat capabilities are enhanced strength and agility as well as magic.

Skills: Advanced abyssal magic, advanced enchanting, intermediate healing magic, intermediate fire magic, intermediate combat magic and basic skill in most other magics. Additionally, skillful in hand-to-hand combat, marksmanship and bladed combat. Her most deadly attributes are probably her inhuman strength and agility her bodies possess and that combined with combat magic allows her to easily kill normal assassins. Her occupational skills include cybernetics design, cybernetics manufacturing, cooking, alchemy and manatronic modification/repair.
Knowledge: Neuroscience, university level medicine, arcane efficiency training, demonology, forbidden studies, some alchemy, various enchanting disciplines, very knowledgeable about cybernetics, bookkeeping, can speak four languages fluently (Southsavonian, Almandian, Yotlandian, Niponya language)

Alignment: Normally neutral evil to true neutral. She often lacks a moral compass when being herself. Only friends get good treatment.
In disguises, she tends to act neutral good most of the time. She tries to act like a goody two shoes, but is not good at that.

Personality: While originally, a gentle person while an incurable illness, her first body changed her personality completely as not only was it a bit creepy, but people avoided her because of it. The hardships she faced with it, made her what she is today: A mad scientist who has no issue tricking people into being her test subjects, accepting funding from shady people and killing without hesitation when necessary. Best to say, as long as you don't get on her bad side and aren't naive, your chances of being harmed are low.

In disguise, Kana tries to be as friendly as possible without being too overbearing. Mean people and bullies she tries to ignore best as possible or tries to think of decent verbal counters, even though she'd rather just murder them instead. But since that is not an option, at least not in disguise, she considers just scaring them a lot when they are alone. She has however accidentally knocked a harasser unconscious due to the strength of her bodies.

Background: Kana was born in the north of Southsavonia. From early on, she had an incurable vegetative illness that left her wheelchair bound by the time she was nine. She was signed up to a government health program to give people with severe physical disabilities a second chance at life. When she was 17, she had surgery and when she woke up, she had a new body. Initially she was excited, however once she looked in a mirror, she was distraught. She looked like a creepy doll version of herself. Furthermore, she wouldn't be able to eat food and would have no taste when drinking something. Instead she had to inject a capsule in the back of her neck once a day.

After rehab, she returned to school where most people began avoiding her, even friends. Boys would relentlessly bully her, calling her a freak or a "creepy ass doll", often pushing her over or punching her. She didn't feel pain because the only sensations her body had were mild touches, but it hurt her mentally. Kana began to wear a facemask over her mouth and nose. She began studying cybernetics among other things as much as she could, while trying to bear through the bullying. But one day, she snapped. A bully got violent and she ended up punching back. She kept punching back until the bully laid motionless in a pool of his own blood. It was said the bully was lucky to survive, but he will never be able to walk again.

Kana was suspended from school and was facing felony charges. But to her surprise, the charges were mysteriously dropped, her suspension was lifted and she was invited to speak to a government agent, who wanted to hear her side of the story. After Kana told her story, the government agent offered her a scholarship and a guaranteed enrolment at the state university in the capital. The only catch was that Kana was to work for the Bureau of Security from university onwards. She agreed willingly.

Soon after she returned to school, where not only were her fellow students afraid of her, but some teachers were missing and the headmaster had been replaced. Rumor went around that government agents arrested the teachers for criminal negligence and corruption. Even worse, the headmaster had gone missing completely. It puzzled many at the school as Kana's family didn't have any powerful party members and it was weird that the government seemed to try to sweep the incident under the rug.

Until graduation, other student remained silent when Kana was present or they would force themselves to talk to her and try to get on her good side, to which Kana could clearly recognize their unease.

Before she started university, she managed to make a better face for herself and give it a less stiff way of showing emotions. It was a definite improvement, but it wasn't completely natural yet. Her expressions seems mild and gentle, but at least not creepy now.

In university, she studied hard and made it to her doctorate within a few years. From then on, she was introduced to a new program that included other cybernetics researchers from other nations for special cybernetics research. It was clear that the main focus was on military cybernetics and similar functions. The new department would be at the Almandia National University.

However the program lasted not even a year until the government of Almandia found out it's true purpose and not only ordered the shutdown of the department but the arrest of the researchers as most of them were believed to be foreign intelligence officers/spies. Kana managed to escape capture along with a few others, but they left a trail of bodies during their escape.

A number of sponsors retracted their support, but the Southsavonian Bureau of Security, found them a new lab within a Southsavonian government owned university branch within the undercroft of Jogrun city in Yotland. They are to lay low for a little while and exterminate any assassins they encounter. So far, Kana has been attacked by an Almandian assassin once within the underground city, but luckily they didn't find their lair yet.

Appearance: A 5ft 5 tall woman of athletic build. Hair and eye color is a hazelnut color. Usually seen with minimal make up.
Personal symbol: the sulfur/brimstone symbol is tattooed under the left eye, her limited makeup usually masking it.
Clothing style: She has grown to kind of like the maid outfit not minding wearing it. When outside of it though she usually leans towards skirts and a top thats as t least fitting businees casual. Her gloves are always worn to help mask the Cybernetics. Her favorite thigh high boots are reinforced like said gloves. Metal magic used to help make them fortified for defense.
Alignment: Chaotic Good. She does want to benefit others but her body count might make one second guess that notion.
Knowledge: Advanced Weapon Tech, Cybernetics, demonology, arcane forgesmithing, Bioweapons, Alchemy. Her other sciences and magic comprehension is while not bad limited. She works on weapons she's not good at spells per say but the implementation of magic to weapons. Additionally has no real medical skills beyond what's needed for cybernetics.
Previous Job: Weapon Smith and Assassination. She wasn't the most crucial to operations but combat ability was critical to some tasks. And her upbringing made her a apt fit.

----------Cybernetics--‐--------
Right Eye: Equipped with same features of the left but more significantly with a small power cell under the eye with an ejection port. Her eye can function as a brief energy beam using a lightning cell for a tazer, or fire for plasma. It can usually only hold three charges.
Left Eye: Equipped with night vision and what she calls the Angle Matrix. A algorithm that helps compute things like angles speed and so on to assist in otherwise unnatural feats. Such as ricocheting bullets, or navigating impossible falls.
Tongue: Power cell is stored in the back of the throat, the mechanics help contain the heat so th a t it can escape Alice without endangering her. She usually has equipped a fire or abyss power cell. Both escape the mouth as if breathing fire, a small flame thrower in design. The difference is when abyss the flames present as violet in color. When torching an opponent they run risk of corruption being sent into a berserk state as they burn.
Skeleton: Carefully crafted into a metal frame it makes her able to endure landing from most hights five stories or lower. Aids in absorbing able to stop cars with a hand. The reinforced ribcage helping shield organs from harm. This has helped boost strength and speed to an extent, she won't be outrunning.cars or ripping off steel doors but it puts her above most humans.
Left Hand: A pistol stored in the palm outfitted with up to six shots,, and has adjusted typing through an alchemical barrel. Including lighting ice and abyss shells.
Right Forearm: This is her pride and joy developed as a teen it folds out into a rail gun. She mixed electricity and and metal magic to combine it with science to craft a gun that supercedes most. It can turn a nail into the kind of projectile that obliterates a car. Having said this it does cost a lot of fuel to use. It's a combination of earth, fire and electricity power cells. It's good for three shots a day. While most her works can function on ammo the mechanics of the arm become structurally unstable after the third use.

-----------Skills---------
Magic: Alice is pretty versed in the Elemental magics and abyss. Her issue comes in using it her ability to tap into magic is limited so works better as imbuing items over say casting spells or using magic in the field. She actually considers metal and abass magic her favorites. Its what got her into the research field she was in. However that was more reason to dislike her work if anything.
Science: She's a good mechanic and Cybernetics engineer, her specialty though is in weapons. Hexshell was all about making magic fuel sources and munitions. Alice was chosen for her understanding of such works.
Combat: As a child they wanted her to be an assassin. She's good at hand to hand and melee weapons, she didn't shine in these areas but she did slouch either. She was talented though in athletics in fitness and parkour. And her specialty was marksmanship. She was an incredible shot before the Angle Matrix
Practical: Other skills she has include driving, cooking, cleaning, and playing piano. She would say she is a good driver, depends others think her speeding tickets detract from such a claim. Her cooking and cleaning isn't as debated. Those at the facility she escaped with know she can play the piano quite well, Alice herself though is usually embarrassed at such a thing. On the opposite end she can't sing or dance to save her life. While her medical skills are good when doing Cybernetics she fails usually in actual medicine.
Personality: Raised to be a assassin she does usually enjoy ending fights. She isnt going to always rush into a fight, but a bullet to the head ends a fight and she does like winning. Calculated efficiency muddied by delight at victory. Her attitude usually is warm but business oriented. Driven to see a job done. She is also though a nerd known to get excited looking at or working on weapons and cybernetic components.

Combat Knife (constant): usually stores in a concealed sheath on her right boot.
Hair pins (constant): Easily just used to keep hair tidy. These are though three in number, the nails for her rail gun.
Leg pouch (constant): Hidden behind gum and her absorbant rag equipped with a self cleaning feature is an additional lighting and fire cell and pistol magazine.

Glass Cleaner (maid): Quite simple it cleans glass surfaces. Or twist nozel hit concealed button it becomes a freexe ray.
Surface Cleaner(maid): Disinfectant and smells nice, does wonders. Or with the hidden lever disperses acid. The glass cleaner works better as a stream condensed on a target, acid works better in the spray function as a sort of cone aoe.
Duster (maid): simple it dusts things. Just ignore that while one button makes it extend and the other pulls the fibers into the rod. Once inside the rod it turns into a baton.
Broom/Mop(maid): able to alternate modes to ease the job. Secretly has a third feature that turns it into a rifle. Easily concealed in the mechanisms is the small magazine. Which contains 12 rounds that on impact are designed to combine a small component of air and fire cells to create explosive munitions.
Pan/Bucket(maid): It folds out into the desired broom pan or mop bucket. It also has a third feature of folding into a vest to allow armor when needed.
Air Freshener(maid): Helps to spray around the job its nothing really, Minus the air cell at the bottom can be used for a one time purpose use. Mixing with the fire cells hidden inside the small can may become a small bomb.

Brimstone her van: It seats up to seven, driver, shotgun, five in back. Before they ran it was metallic black, being on the run she's painted it violet and changed its plates. She's not the best with magic but she's shown ingenuity, when painting she laced it with extra lead. Which she was able to then apply Alchemy to using her talents with metal magic to fortify the vehicle. It's resilient to small arms fire because of this. Get Alice drunk enough and she might gush over all the ideas she has for Brimstone. The budget hasn't allowed for this though much.
Vacuum(optional): Not every job needs the backpack carried in. Using batteries to power its mighty hose it socks up plenty of dirt and dust. It also compartmentalizes the rocks and debris if sizable enough into a concealed magazine. Which then can be used to combine electricity and air cells for a briefly usable minigun.
Back Up cleaning supplies(optional): self explanatory.
Ruz X 27 Sniper rifle or R27 for short(optional): the van has a hidden compartment under the extra supplies which houses her old service rifle. It's got a good scope and fantastic range. More significant is her special brand of munitions of course. Abyss rounds and metal rounds. Mid flight the metal rounds pop a casing inside that hardens the bullet increasing its heft and hardness they usually launch bodies backwards and punch through metal. Abyss shells are usually saved for softer targets as the shell only works if it hits the heart. If it succeeds though it allows a demon to be spawned inside the body. The heart turning into a gateway for a horror to cross over.

Housing Situation: A uptown apartment two rooms one always open for the other girls if needed. It's got a surplus of weapons around it well hidden. It is also immaculately clean. A porch overlooks the city and is where she usually works on cybernetics or weapons on a work bench. In the living room is obvious space for a piano though she has yet to acquire one.
Kill Count So Far: Of assassins four, three She's shared, one she hasn't admitted to. In total hard to say, she lost count four years back it started to get to her.

Early years:
It all starts simple a girl born to a wealthy father. Raised her with a stern but kind hand with one exception keep things tidy. She didn't need to be confined or restrained or anything cruel her father was just OCD. By ten she was picking up an interest in his own work, he was Alexander Roslokov the head designer of Hexshell Industries. A leading name in weapons technology. Alice tried to pick up on everything she could from his studies as a kid. The result was a growth in a variety of skills though perhaps not as much a marvel in any. She was already showing promise though and so Alexander began looking for ways to help her get into Hexshell early.

From twelve to sixteen he helped further her skill set with those good for assassination work. Neither Alice or her father wanted her in by name but by respected work. At sixteen she joined the Ruzalanian military sponsored by Hexshell. By eighteen she was a well respected killer and while her skills were to varied to interest the science team of Hexshell her name, service, and skills combined made her at least worth bringing in. From eighteen to twenty one she then served as an enforcer mainly security and assassin work though in the time she had in the lab she began working on a prototype. By twenty two Almandia National University was looking for more candidates. Her father wanted her in, he didn't trust the other three he suspected ANU would take from Hexshell.

Alice knew she needed something special then to win. And she needed to win. So she finished her prototype first of its kind, the rail gun. She crafted it to a cybernetic arm. Then she made sure that prototype was in her arm. She arrived to the test with a bandage in pain but strong willed. Most of the five women brought to the stand beside her were free of augmentation. Was her and one other. The other was a almost guarantee in they liked the sight but weren't fixated on it. She stood out then, she placed herself with the other two competitors on her right risde. They went down the list first three were so sure to be recruited. The questions were going to get hard for the remaining three but she was first to be asked.

"Alicia Roslokov why should you be the fourth recruit of six?"

A smile and as she tilted her hand to the side her arm unfolded and collapsed into a weapon. Then fired "there's only four."

From then on she was taken into ANU. She worked on herself like any other student and for the underground branch worked security and ocasional clean up. If a test went awry or student ran she attended to things. Hexshell was being used for project Dragonov before shut down. Most the work went to her betters but they did have plans for Alice's tech. When being shutdown though the group agreed they couldn't go behind bars. There Nation not always best received the trio not always good when pressured as they would be. Project Dragonov needed to live on and the strongest of them had to be the one to run. She reminded them why she was picked roughly a year ago.

Today the Dragonov project lives on in her head. Her ideas of what she would like to do are buried by a feeling of duty to finish the project for her sisters. They did really believe in the weapon they were making. How on completion it would help secure their company and nation as a dominant power. Ideally it would have been a weapon that promoted partnership, by cold hard force if needed. While in hiding Alice has dealt with a trio of assassins so far. Two were found out by others, and Alice went to do clean up. She just tidied their home or rented out room, they seemed to die elsewhere in an accident. One had found her on a drive home, they fought she won. This was nothing special to her they did their job and she did what she was meant to do, win.

While she's shared fhese with the others what she hasn't told anyone was that her father came to her when the escaped party finally started to settle in. Alexander Roslokov knew the secrets of the Hexshell branch, that was why Alice had been there. They knew Alice would need funding but he couldn't hide everything in person. He was a brilliant mind and a bad liar. The company could support his grieving daughter gone missing. If Alexander were alive though the company knew he would know where she was. They would know he knew the project, Hexshell wanted things secret and more importantly Ruzalania wanted secrets kept. So they fought in her apartment.

Later that week Alexander Roslokov was pronounced dead. News told of his daughter somewhere in Ruzalania grieving...the world unknowing that the newscaster covering the story had his home being cleaned by Alice a simple maid. And heir to Hexshell Industries.

So, I mentioned this on discord but I don't know if you'd seen it or were aware @AuntRainbows , but I've been really sick the past several days. I just wanted to check in and let you know that I'm still interested and planning to make a character, I just haven't been able to function well enough to write the last several days. I haven't forgotten and I'll get there as soon as I'm doing a little better.
