Name: Theodore Gilbert
Alias: Merlin
Age: 20
Gender: Male (he/him)
Appearance: Scrawny and on the shorter side, Theodore doesn’t cut much of an intimidating figure. He has shoulder-length hair that poofs out at odd angles, except for the top where it is perpetually flattened, and a scar running through his (blinded) right eye. When he’s working as an exorcist, Theodore wears a lovingly tattered navy cloak-robe embroidered with golden runes, and keeps the hood pulled over his face. He also calls himself Merlin, because he thinks it makes him sound mysterious and arcane.
Personality/Background: Theodore is a huge nerd, but otherwise a pretty decent guy, by all reports. He always wanted to be a wizard when he grew up, regardless of how infeasible a career path it seemed to be, and against all odds he kind of succeeded. Or, at least, he got as close as he could get. He wasn’t expecting ghosts to be the supernatural thing that turned out to be real, but as long as he can blast them with holy flame and pretend he’s casting fireball, he’s a happy camper. Without his cloak he can be rather shy and awkward, but hiding his face boosts his confidence and allows him to bluster past the gaps in his knowledge.
Equipment: “Spell components:” small bundles of twigs and herbs, tied with twine. Typically made from poplar, sage, and pine, or whatever can be found beneath nearby trees. He also carries a lighter and matches, just in case.
Skills: Whether by some unshakeable belief or a long-running string of luck in close-up magic, Theodore is able to produce holy flame from his hands. The flames are stronger if he feeds them his spell components, and he can choose to lob them at a distance or touch something nearby to set it on fire. He does not have very good aim, and no control over the flames once they’ve left his hands, but he is able to hurt all manner of creature with them.
