However, the royal council rules in a union, where each Monarch rules his domain as he pleases. The Chosen Monarch is a King or Queen, chosen by all of the Union’s rulers, this person has the full power of the combined military, and can summon it at their whim. The Chosen Monarch’s duties are also to decide disputes that may occur between other monarchs.
Background
The United European Union find it's root in the union formerly known as The European Union; first created in 1993 by the countries known as the ‘Inner Six’; Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Germany. They introduced the ‘Euro’ as the currency commonly used in the European Union - also known as the EU - and more and more countries decided it would be in their - and their people’s - best interests to join the EU. The EU policies on free movement of people, goods, services, and capitals allowed it to grow exponentially, both military wise and economically. Many of the countries and nations worldwide began to describe the European Union as an emerging superpower.
After the Catastrophe of 2012 and the amount of damage reported from all member states, the EU entered a state of emergency. However, due to financial problems, the EU intended to repair the damages from the West and work their way towards the East. However, during this state of vulnerability, the Russians invaded East Europe. The loss of the former East Block, except Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Serbia, caused the EU to overhaul their current organization. To combatant the Confederacy threat and defend their homeland, the EU was abolished and became the United European Union. Former armament treaties were removed and Germany began to mobilize for war. Turkey was allowed access into the Union, due to their developed military power. The Union essentially became one Nation, a dream never thought to be realized.
The government form, however, is made up of a council of monarchs with powerful inherited magical abilities, hailing from each of the member states. Each of these monarchs governs their own states, but choose a High King/Queen, to rule them all.
Role during the Hundred Years’ War
The first of the European Union’s member states to fall to the Federation’s aggressions were the former ‘East Block’ countries, primarily the Baltic states Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia. The sudden and unsuspected loss of these three states caused mass panic throughout the rest of the European Union and after several emergency meetings of the remaining and unaffected EU member states it was decided that the formation of the United European Union was necessary to allow the total dedication of one united army, economy and all of its resources to the defense of any and all United European Union states.
During the war, the Union remained on the defensive. Most of the fighting was centered around the Hungarian Peninsula, where the Union concentrated on defending the gateway into West Europe.
Inherited Magic
Ancient Magic: It is no secret that many tales of magic, witches, and mythological creatures originated from the European Continent. There is a grain of truth in every one of these tales and it is considered that the mages of the old world practiced the purest form of magic. Almost all of the Union member states have their own special form of magic, at least the ancient countries. One of the examples are the Hungarians who are known for their secret knowledge of Blood Magic, and one of the most notorious thaumaturgists was the former Hungarian Princess, Elizabeth Báthory.
