The Evrensel Conflict The Evrensel Conflict -- Chapter 1: The Only Easy Day was Yesterday

The hissing creatures had Alicia let out a small yelp. “oh no not again” She moaned her plasma shield giving of a blue light as it expanded around her right arm and the Plasma cutter sword activating in her left. It was a relief when the party fled with the tunnel behind them blockaded against those creepy things.

“We are heading further down into the tunnel system, aren’t we?” She asked with a sinking feeling in her gut. Dark tunnels with giant deadly hissing beasts. This was like the Orthean Campaign all over again. She was glad the helmet made the tunnels look brighter.

That brightness allowed her to also see that the side tunnels they passed by had movement. In one such instance spotting the creature that was readying to pounce as they ran past. She slammed her shield into it. Following it into the side tunnel and cleaving it with her blade sending green fluids flying over the walls. Her Shield flickered a few moments before stabilizing again and she ran after the others boosting her movements with thrusters.

that’s when pain she had not felt in ages struck. And she careened into the wall trying to regain her breath. The right side of her torso and shoulder was on fire. Staring down she saw the bright green acid sink trough metal, steam rising form it as it hissed. “GAAAAAAAAH!!” Alicia had to keep moving that she knew. But the acid went through her muscles and into the bone in moments after it had passed through the armor. She was blind from the pain.

As they ran along the tunnels Xiao slammed side tunnels shut whenever she spotted one of those green slimy things. she could feel everybody running just fine without needing to look at them but she did notice somebody missing so she stopped to see who the straggler was. Eventually Alicia came into view, making Xiao grumble. "and of course shes hurt..."

Having no time for that as she slammed a pillar down from the ceiling into one of the green things and pinning it to the ground she waited for Alicia to get closer. Once close enough Xiao grabbed hold of her just moments before a slanted rock pillar erupted from beneath their feet, launching them towards the others. She aimed Alicia down for Mundi's cart before pushing off and grabbing onto the ceiling herself. "What the hell happened to you?" she asked as she dropped down from the ceiling and resumed running along side Mudi's cart.

Alicia grunted when Xiao grabbed her, she wanted to scream but was unable to. The world spun, the colours of her HUD’s warning lights nauseating. And then she was finally able to let out another scream when they hit metal. “T…their blood” Hyperventilating she grabbed what she could with her left hand. “It’s acid. I…I can’t feel my arm!”

[Bypassing damaged section. Administering pain relief]

Alicia’s suit began glowing a weak read around her right arm and torso. The suits systems finally able to properly detect the acid that had severed the sensors connections.

[Hemorrhaging stopped, seek medical aid]

It was hard to remain still with her senses overwhelmed by the wounds.

A proximity alarm went off as Xiao came closer with the armored Alicia and a small pop top wide-angle camera on its top whirl about to look that direction. A large armored woman carried by Xiao and oncoming to the cart. The droid quickly popped upward for more clearance as the armored woman landed head-front on the grainy bag of fertilizer and crushed small thickened cardboard boxes of baking soda squirting tufts of white dust into the air. The impact arrested by the drone's active suspension tightening the gimbal mount and stiffening its shocks though the ride was harsh and noisy for a moment. At the end of the impact one of its wheels complained of minor deformation but damage control considered the warping negligible for the time being.

Master was minding the manufacture of the weapon so Mundi reached up to a rising panel and tossed a small hand-sized box into its cart as it rolls along. Inside was a set of nanite injectors and encoders with adapters for either flesh or nanite hives. A steel box human hand in size the IFF descriptor it broadcast read:
Code:
           UNSC-ONI
  Spartan-class Nanite Package
Synthetic Biofoam Lymphatic Node
Gross regeneration of major veins, bones, and nerves, limited organ triage - 30s.
Internal/skin damage - 10s
Seek medical attention for further repair of gross injuries.
Module installation and activations may be calorie, calcium, and protein intensive.

The ever-cheerful voice called out terse instructions though the IFF package was more verbose, "Stocked flash-regeneration upgrade deployed! Try not to starve! If it is not compatible leave it in my cart, okay? Ahh! Biter! Go away!"

Mundi's pink shock stick shot out to an electrical box flung open by a black creature bearing a slavering inner jaw. Luminous pink energy dimmed as the neural disruptor hit the creature writhed with a nervous system in temporary epileptic chaos. The creature shot out a tail instinctively that put a hard fracture and a slash in its chromatic shell barely managing to hold as Mundi rolled quickly away behind Soap.

"Hey!I have to fix that! These creatures are really sharp!", complains Mundi's upbeat voice.

"Many that don't know where they're going don't have a future and I'm told Miss Xiao has either sort," Said a faceless avatar leaf of Negative Twelfth in robes appearing along their way to those that could hear it.

Sat next a xenomorph the telepathic creature displayed some awareness of the monkish leaf of Negative Twelfth's presence. It was distracted in clawing at his empty space. Unless Xaio closed a wall upon it or another its acidic existence, in any case. It wouldn't be long until it moved on to other targets.

Norman reared his rotary cannon around, the telltale sound of blaster fire filling the small area as multiple rounds cane screaming out of the weapon’s barrel, almost at once, and pierced the (frankly terrifying) alien that had been attacking the hologram. The creature let out a high pitch scream of pain at the plasma rounds and the light they brought with them.

The alien tried to retreat, but there was only so much one could do as they steadily filled with holes, and it only made it a few feet before collapsing with a wet sound. Small amounts of green blood leaked from the riddled body and quickly began to eat away at the concrete. “That’s... not good.” Commented Norman, before hefting his rotary blaster again and turning it to bear upon the spasming alien, taking a cautionary step back and waiting for Mundi to get clear of the splash zone.

“Anyone need thermals?” He calls out. “They should work if you see a lot of them!”

Soap kept his eyes peered to the back of the group, watching out for any more of those aliens if they got through Xiao's pillars. The situation was dire and they needed a way out now. They can't go back up, even if the bombing stopped, there was still the danger of the immense heat and fire, and staying down here was obvious death, so what to do? When the aliens began getting through Xiao's pillars, BJ began firing through the wall to kill however many there were; going through his magazine within a few seconds. Quickly reloading, he turned his head to the group to yell, "We gotta move!"

Even stopping for a moment was a chance for the aliens to catch them. They had to keep running, but they needed to know where. "Xiao! Can you sense out the direction of the tunnels? Feel out any exits?" If she could sense the aliens approaching them, perhaps she could sense out places they were coming from and where there was less activity. When she tried to again, she would notice a majority of footsteps were coming from the right side, while those from the left were taking sharp turns away from them before approaching from the tunnel behind them.

Something seemed to block them from coming at the group directly from the left, so if they went left, they wouldn't have to worry about the aliens coming at them from all sides. That area also felt strange, as it was shaped much differently from the rest of the tunnels, like it was square shaped. Was that a building?

"Like i said i got the entire place mapped out from thanks to all these explosions the metal birds were making." She replied while slamming a pillar up into the ceiling an pinning one of those creepy aliens to it. She had seen that their blood could melt stone whenever Soap and Norman shot them not to mention Alicia even telling them that. so she was being careful to not crush them and splatter acid everywhere.

Eventually she actually was forced to stop to actually sense out from where all of these creatures were coming from. As she slammed her foot into the ground in her mind she visualized several layers of tunnels. far down to the right she could feel hundreds of them churning about their movements so intense she could feel out the tunnels natural shape and just hoe much it was filled up with some weird muck that made her sense go all fuzzy the deeper she tried to see in that direction. "There's allot of them to the right... i think that's their nest it feel different from the rock down here...its all fuzzy as if filled with crumbly crystals."

Xiao said then decided to feel over to the left. on that side she saw allot of movement but the patterns were different than on the right. they seemed to go right under them then up to the left tunnels and taking a sharp turn to get to the group of people and her. there was a specific place they were avoiding. it felt very different again. muck more solid than regular rock which means a little harder to earthbend but the aliens were avoiding that place as much as possible even going to the lengths of taking the longer routes underneath it. "There's something to the left...they seem to be avoiding it at all costs. what ever it is it feels square and very solid. not exactly metal but not really stone."

"Ghost, are you able to scan that area without me being there?" "I wouldn't recommend doing that again. Remember the last time? I almost got taken by the Taken." "Oh... right... I forgot about that... haha...." Vortex-25 exclaimed nervously, scratching the back of her head. She had contemplated going there alone but that wouldn't be the best bet. Without Xiao building pillars to keep the ceiling stable, they wouldn't last long down there, especially considering they barely escaped a cave in after they threw explosives down a cave hole to rout out some fallen that had set up camp there in the European Dead Zone. "So what are we going to do then?" "Hang on a minute, Xiao is saying something."

"Hmm... Is there something in particular about that route that those creatures dislike?" "I say we take any opportunity we can get. As long as it allows us to better stay alive, any opportunity we can take to keep safe is any opportunity I'm willing to take."

Alicia fumbled with the robot’s care package following the instructions on it. The rapid regeneration felt like someone added more acid to the wound. She kicked and arched her back as it worked before sinking down on the bags again.
On her back and wounded though no longer about lose an arm. The girl was useless a hindrance to the others thanks to her own carelessness. She gritted her teeth and blinked away tears. Seeing the others around her take down beasts and moving towards tunnels the beasts avoided. But what kept such monsters at bay if not even greater monsters?

“Layla, guys where are you?”

Unknown World
Flying somewhere in the sky
Vert and IF

The world was burning. As those bomber aircraft were laying waste to the ground with their constant sweeps, everyone else had made it underground. Well, everyone except for a unfortunate Goddess and Guild Agent, Vert and IF. They were trying to avoid the craft while maintaining enough height to be safe from the burning grounds created by the explosions. And Vert was badly damaged in her Goddess form while carrying IF who was acting as support using her pistols and magic.

WiFOCDd.png

"Iffy dear, I don't know how much longer I can keep up... I'm heavily running out of energy just evading those bombers alone." "Just hold on, okay? There's a rooftop over there that looks undamaged, we could drop there and try to survey for a underground entrance. That seems to be our only salvation." IF stated as she had faith in Vert being able to hold on. (alongside the fact they were crushing on each other.) And after a while, she successfully landed onto a safe rooftop and immediately downgraded back down to normal, dropping IF onto the ground and both of them laying flat on the surface.

OHSQMST.png

"I don't know how much longer I can hold out like this..." Vert exclaimed, panting as she was somewhat damaged in her human form despite all circumstances. IF crawled over to Vert's side and rested alongside her, huddling for warm and hand wrapped around hers. "Iffy... Thank you for being with me..." "It's... no p-p-problem..." She responded, blushing like crazy. Seems that after three years in their time, she still held a small crush for her. "After our rest... I'll look around for... an underground... entrance..." She then passed out next to Vert, who huddled her closely while slowly panting. How unfortunate for IF to run out of breath that easily due to the atmosphere while Vert is holding on...

They were now resting, trying to regain their strength. But little did they realise that someone could drop in on them unsuspectingly, almost like... it's happened before?

Neptune's fingers were tense, almost sweaty in fact, as she gripped the controller to her game as tightly as possible. Her eyes were entirely focused on the screen in front of her. On the other side was her opponent; a young and silver-haired man whom had been a thorn in her side for the past ten minutes. But finally, at long last, she had him! She knew his weak point perfectly. Her fingers moved with the speed of a thousand sloths over the buttons until...

Pudnglv3rNP: I got you now! It took me a bit but I figured it out! You're not just some ordinary opponent. You're Blanc!

Lowee4Ever: Took you long enough Nep.

Pudnglv3rNP: For shame. Hiding behind a male avatar. Who does that? Pretends to be a boy online. It's weird.

Lowee4Ever: Nep? Is something wrong? That doesn't sound like you at all.

Pudnglv3rNP: It's not. I mean, I hear people say stuff like that all the time, but typing it out doesn't feel right. People should just have fun online. But, does this mean that cute guy I saw you kissing last time?

Lowee4Ever: Probably a girl in real life as well. I haven't seen her online in a while though. Something must have happened. Think they got into the beta of the new 4GO game?

Pudnglv3rNP: I heard about that but I'm not sure. These MUD's aren't really my thing. Gearsy would probably love it though.

Lowee4Ever: It's MMO.

Pudnglv3rNP: Right. MMO. Anyways. I got you! At long last I figured you out.

Lowee4Ever: How long was it?

Pudnglv3rNP: I don't want to think about it. If it's anything like last time I probably got de-leveled to 1 again. Anyways, I hear Histy calling my name. Gotta go fast!

Neptune sighed as she placed the controller down as, down the hall, she could hear the small fairy calling out her name. Histy was a good friend and companion to be certain. Probably the closest thing Neptune had to a mother. Mothers, however, tend to nag their children to do work and work was the second most dangerous thing to young and lovely goddesses! Neptune had to hide. Turning her console off she quickly turned around and started to dash for the nearest door, which was the only door, but her only escape route and salvation! She peeked out from around the corner noting that Histy had just turned the corner causing her to pop back into her room.

"Red light." she whispered to herself as she got ready to make her dash. Then her room was bathed in a neon green light and, like that, Histy's desire to ask Nep where Nepgear had gotten off to would go unfulfilled.

Her world was gone. She was high up in the sky, well above the ground, in a strange new world. She could feel gravity pulling her center, right, left, and centerish-rightly left areas in all different directions at once before, slowly, the inevitable happened.

"Oh no! Noire! Where are you?" she called out as she suddenly plummeted earthwards. Below the city looked like it had seen a massive battle with artillery shelling the city and generally being destroyed with what seemed to be a bomber or two nearby, no doubt having just dropped it's load off and returning to base. Thankfully she wasn't over the streets but, rather, some rooftops with what appeared to be two people on top. One with blonde hair and the other with brown; and she had just appeared over the later and it was time for the forces of both gravity and comedy to take over.

"Exceptional." Munru commented dryly. "We escaped the fire, but we get trapped underground with no direction, no backup, and no command from Overwatch."

"We didn't have command from Overwatch anyway." Irantu replied. "Onru, take point."

Onru strode ahead, assault rifle out and pointed at the front. It took her less than fifty steps before she put up a fist. As the rest of the team hunkered down, Irantu tapped her shoulder. "Report."

"I hear someone." She replied. "Multiple someones. A lot of someones."

"Other survivors, most likely." Munru concluded. "Should we lend a hand?"

Irantu shook his head. "Not actively. We'll scout ahead, see if the tunnel opens up. Do not engage them unless actively hostile. Move out."

The team moved forward silently through the tunnels of the city, a mass of sewer systems and random intervals full of unexpected turns, cave-ins, and corners with no exits. "Are you sure there's not a spatial anomaly in here?" Nanku asked after a solid five minutes. Onru periodically confirmed the presence of other living beings nearby, though no sign of them could be found, leading Irantu to conclude that "the sewers have a strange way of propagating noises."

"Kant scanner clean. Mostly." Munru answered, but was instantly shushed by Onru.

"Stop. Right ahead, past two turns and take a left. The group is coming here."

"Huh? I think I'm hallucinating but I believe that I spot a Neptune..." Vert exclaimed as she eyed up the sky and indeed a Nep was flying towards them. "Oh. I'm not hallucinating. Wait... !!!" She immediately panicked and tried to move, but her lack of energy kept her in place as the unsuspecting fall had came to fruition as Neptune landed square on Vert's chest, squashing her to the ground as she was now fighting to push the Nep off of her.

"Neptune? While it is great to see you, I would sincerely ask that you get off of my bosom. I'd rather not turn into a flat Goddess like Blanc if you would be so kind..." She exclaimed with a minor muffled chuckle as she attempted to push Neptune off with dear life but unfortunately lacked the energy to push her. "Sigh... I can't push... I'm too drained..."

“The right, huh?” Murmurs Norman, the world around him dulling and blocking out the sound of his rotary cannon as he analyses the tunnels around him. They were tight, and he was willing to bet the pipelines these things were obviously using were tighter. He sling his cannon over his back, drew his rifle and began to fire at a slower rate, one hand moving towards his bag and withdrawing the shaped thermal charges within.

Strafing his fire to a new target, blasting out the Alien’s shoulder and knocking the thing back, the light from his shot illuminating its slavering jaws, Norman slowly moves towards the side of the tunnel and places a two charges on the wall and over where (in his experience with sewers, which was depressingly advanced) the pipelines should be.

Rolling beneath a clawed swing, he fills the elongated head of the wounded creature with new airways, narrowly avoiding the majority of its acid-blood as he repeated the process on the opposite side of the tunnel, watching as the lights on the sticky charges lit up to show they were activated.

"I've set explosive charges, so now would be a good time to move fast! Cap- Xiao, tell me when that group from the rught gets to this location!" Norman calls out as he begins backing off, his blaster now more of a detterant as their numbers slowly increased. He decided to move a little bit faster.

"Let's go, go, go!" Soap yelled, waving everyone down the tunnel. The aliens were far too many, but BJ stayed besides Norman so he wouldn't be overrun, firing a few rounds off behind the clone. No need to lose more people today. "C'mon let's go!" The southern soldier told Norm, giving him covering fire so the clone could retreat. By now, everyone would be running to wherever this clearing was, as the aliens haunting screeches echoed from all over, making it harder to hear any near them. With his flashlight aimed straight ahead, Soap was focused on clearing out a path for the group, but as he scouted further and further away, he neglected to watch his side.

An alien arm reached from a small crevasse beside Soap, grabbing his gear and pulling him backwards. Before anyone could react, the Scotsman disappeared into the walls. "SOAP!" Alec yelled, running over to the crevasse to try and grab him, but it was too late. All that remained was his gun, and Alec looked into the darkness with a stunned and shocked look. BJ ran up to see what happened and saw Soap's gun; reaching over to Alec's shoulder to get his attention back. "Alec, we gotta go!" He told him, grabbing Soap's weapon. Alec still looked dejected, in quite a bit of shock.

The group would reach a massive hole in the wall of the tunnel system. Looking down, it lead to a massive open space with a large metal door the size of a bus in length. The drop down was only six or seven feet, but there weren't any signs of those aliens having been around this area. With the creatures hot on their tail, the open space looked like a way out.

As Negative twelfth finished the hard sound rifle Mundi reached around for the power cord near his front and plugged it in. A silent weapon of internal hemorrhaging loosed a chorus of feral thrum as capacitors and wave guides warmed up to self-test. The weapon was roughly the size of a submachinegun with the clip merged into the hardware a plug replacing it. The barrel undulated rather than a smooth cylinder and the rear and stock hummed loudly. It still had a kick but barely the disincorporated cement or alien biology would show the weapon's efficacy. Aliens thrashing and bleeding from every orifice as their acid blood ate their threshed organs from from the inside out.

Mundi sailed past Soap as he waves Mundi on but the bot swiveled a camera around when Alec called out, "Mister BJ! Does Soap have the neural harness applied? I am fully occupied and can't check logs!"

@Bobby the Prussian

The safety, a small button by the trigger, flickered to the armed position autonomously as Mundi raises the weapon to call out, "Fortifying position!"

The labcoated foundation leaf blinked back into view near the group as Mundi popped cart hitches wheeling around front of Alice's legs to face the aliens. Negative Twelfth nodded approvingly as Lucent hexagonal plates form a bubble around Mundi more to protect Alice and itself against energetic blood spray than physical passage. Enhanced it may be against kinetics the drone's shield still couldn't fend off bullets or hands but low mass fluid or holding in air, certainly.

Aliens twitch boil along the walls as Mundi pulls a digital trigger the hits pulverizing internal organs and tissues. Mundi was a decent shot, a military-class droid after all, and did control fire around oncoming personnel behind him though the growing sizzle of acid blood sprouting from black carapace like fungus and eating others below and behind them wasn't the best noise set against their pained shrieking. A fan started up in Mundi's torso as coolant systems fired up. The fan on its side partly damaged by the tail slap the outlet panel didn't have as much airflow.

Mundi called out as the power cord's unused pair socket blinked rapidly from the open panel, "I have sufficient amperage available for another user of my compact stellarator! Minor coolant system damage, controlled bursts only please!"

@TheGreenerGrey @Silvir @Raynar Saassin

The foundation leaf however saw something that caught his notice and all his interest vanishing from the area as soon as it arrived. The pitter patter of familiar booted feet inside of Xiao's awareness. Negative twelfth was reading the map from inside now and anyone that didn't look like those creatures stood out.

White labcoat vanished into a world of soft monochrome the sonic percussion showing the slow advance of ankles a part of him recognized. At the end of their next intersection negative twelfth stood waiting for them to get closer. They weren't very far off but there had to be a reason he was here instead of the halo leaf.

"You. I knew there was a reason I was here. It has to be you four. Those damned imitations can't work and I can't interface with the other asshole directly," said the non-face intently into xiao's mental ether as much as its representation in reality. Mostly directed toward what he hoped was Samsara whom likely couldn't perceive him. In its immediate proximity the hume level dropped significantly though negative twelfth didn't perturb anything on purpose. The graffiti and concrete wear warping into unstable periodelia of memetics of xenomorphs and pairs of four foundation symbols is something more a proximal effect of this leaf in focused interest. Filters would likely scrub away harmless image impressions in any case.

@Raffia Kiryuin @Agent Puncake

It made an announcement to those that could hear the familiar hollow-faced labcoat that popped up brightly as if seen through the wall, "Possible allies nearby. I am illuminating my position through the sewers."

Alone, a woman clad in armor walked the streets, ignoring the blazing fires and the empty silence. She felt the ever alluring energy of combat fuel her bones, and stregnthen her power. Every strike, every battle, every conflict gave her endless energy. For she was no ordinary woman.

She was Bellona, the Roman Goddess of War and Combat. She had been drawn to this universe, eager to feast on the endless bloodshed. She would find these mortals and subjugate them to serve her wether they liked it or not. No mortal weapon or army could stand against her. And yet... She felt like something was missing. Bending down to inspect a dead beast, she looked over the burning infernoes and desolate buildings. There was life here, she felt it.

She heard the voice come from the sewers. Perhaps it was worth checking out indeed....

Soft. Squishy. Voluminous. It was near wondrous for a landing. Instead of slamming hard into the rooftop and it's hard shingles Neptune had, instead, met with soft pillows of cheesecake.

"Vert!" she called out, right into her chest. "Hold on! We need to hold this pose for a second for the artists... And... Done!" with that she quickly bounced up and off, looking down at Vert as she offered a hand. "What are you doing here Vert? Shouldn't you be back in Leanbox? Is this why you haven't been responded to us on Chirper? We thought you were just pulling another all-weeker on 4GO. Not..."

Nep looked around the rooftops, at the depleted CPU, close friend, and ruined city surrounding them, her friendly face seeming to flicker for just a second before changing into that of a sad frown. "Here. Vert. Where are we? This world is so depressing and broken. Iffy. You're my intel bestie. Please tell me you've got something. Something we can do to help these people. Are you okay Vert?"

"Thank you, Neptune." Vert exclaimed with a forced smile as she grabbed onto Neptune's hand and pulled herself upwards with what remaining strength she had left. The fact that she still remained the same old fourth wall breaking and gaming Nep was a sigh of relief to her. "I was to respond to you and the rest of us on Chirper when I had received a new game at my basilicom's mailbox, which was titled "The Evrensel Conflict." I inserted it into my console but it exploded into a neon green flash and dropped me here."

"I'm managing... This place is certainly a odd one to be sure. Those planes that were flying around destroying the place were old fashioned, like in the Nep of Duty games our companies create and distribute." Vert mentioned, dusting herself off. She then looked towards IF like Nep did and then turned back to her. "She'll be fine. She's just exhausted from all that's happened and she passed out due to it."

"Of course, having my warmth on her seemed to make her blush~ Can't you see those adorable red patches on her cheeks?" Vert exclaimed as IF indeed was blushing. Seems that holding hands with her crush as well as being right next to her proved to be a source of comfort and delight while passed out. "Hmhm~ Hard to believe that after all this time she still has a little thing for me~"

"Save it for someone who needs it more." Vortex-25 responded to the military droid as she readied her Gentleman Vagabond Sniper Rifle and prepared to make a stand at their current location. "So. Think you can kill these aliens?" "Not like I have a choice. It's either we spend too much time trying to bust this door down and die to the Aliens, or we fight the Aliens and have a slight chance of dying." "In reality, they are almost like the Hive---" "---These things are nothing like the Hive. Absolutely nothing like them. The Hive are more magical and swarming, while these things are purely just out of this world type. Like in those movie trailers in the Last City." "Right. How silly of me. Well, I'm with you all the way, Guardian." "Thanks, Ghost."

"Whoever's capable of busting that door down, do it. Whoever has weapons? Stand with me and defend this position until we find a way out! (What I wouldn't give to have a Titan right now...)" She then crouched and began firing her sniper rifle towards the incoming Aliens. She was a very proficient sniper, landing head-shots with each pull of the trigger. Three bullets, then reload. Three more bullets, then reload. She was determined to make a stand for her new friends.
