Ancient Forest (1X1)

"Yeah, I do too. So I guess I'd probably want to tell them either way." He smiles back and stops in front of the hut. "I'll probably tell them individually this time, just so as not to freak them out as much by calling in another gathering."
 
She nods softly. "Yes that will probably be best." She smiles gently and moves into the hut. Her ankle had started to ache again. She needed to check it and make sure the wound wasn't getting infected.
 
She watches him go then sits down and begins to tend to her ankle. Her eyes widen when she took the bandage off to find the wounds had discolored and a dark purple had began to spread from it like vines. She had never seen anything like that before.

Then she looks to her arm as she pulls her sleeve up to show where the hand had scratched her. It too was purple. Could that be how it was getting free? If she is sick...the pendant loses strength. If it loses strength the seal would break. Is that what the chief meant? The ruins? Yes she read something about the pendant being a power all its own.
 
Once all of the brothers were warned of what was happening, he started back to Sarah's hut. Something didn't feel right, he wanted to be near her just to keep her safe before they went back to the chief at nightfall. He perched himself in a tree near the hut, so that he could look inside to make sure she'd be okay. He already saw that she was checking her ankle, but he couldn't see the discoloring on it from this distance.
 
She held the pendant a moment. She was very scared now. She bites her lip a little and works on bandaging her ankle back up. She would have to tell Red about this. It may be a key to everything.
 
He got a little too nervous to keep hiding, so he jumped down from the tree and landed in front of the hut. "Are you alright, Sarah?"
 
She blinks slightly at him. Then pulls the bandage back to reveal the discoloration. "I don't know..."
 
He sits down next to her and looks over her ankle, seeming a little worried. "Looks like it's getting worse. I don't know much about medical stuff, not even something as simple as this. I'm not really sure what we can do."
 
She nods slightly. "I'e never seen anything like this before...." She looks to him. "Do you think it' connected to the creature. The scratch on my arm is doing the same thing."
 
"I don't remember it scratching your arm... maybe I just wasn't paying attention." He went silent for a minute as he looked her over. "If there is a connection to the creature, then maybe..." He seemed to notice how weak her pendant was then. "Your necklace... that must be part of his way of getting out."
 
She nods a bit. "That's what I'm thinking too...we thought a fish had grabbed me...maybe it wasn't the fish at all.. we have to get the pendant back to strength but I don't know how."
 
He was silent again as he tried to think, though really he had never understood the writings and had never accounted for the pendant losing strength.
 
She shivers a little and pulls a blanket around herself. "I wish my mom was alive. She would know..."
 
"Maybe the chief will know something when we go back to him. Just try to stay off that ankle until then, we don't need it getting much worse."
 
Sarah huffs slightly. "This is annoying." She comments. Then sighs and nods. "I understand."
 
"I want you to be safe, Sarah. I just think it'll be better if you stay off that ankle. And I promise you we'll find a way to stop this thing." He gripped her hand and squeezed a little as if trying to reassure, but the look in his eyes was one of concern and some authority, as if he were truly starting to treat her like a sister.
 
He smiled and seemed a little uncertain for a moment. "So would you rather I stay here with you until it's time to go back to the chief, or should I leave you alone?"
