"The only animal capable of giving man a fair fight is man. Actually, among ourselves, we fight unfairest of all, and the more we practice, the nastier we get."
– Robert Buettner
The Battle Royale Act, originally in Japan, was a heavily vilified and controversial act. It required schoolchildren to murder each other on national TV. However, it proved a good way to subjugate a populace and control a population. The school attendance rates rose, crime dropped, and the economy showed a steady growth.
10 years ago, following a worldwide depression in Developed Nations and a small war between the US and China that ended in a US-occupied Hong Kong and a destroyed Shanghai, several surrounding countries faced a refugee crisis. This period is known as Exodus.
The largest Exodus occurred to Taiwan as people fled the Hong Kong-Shenzhen front. In order to combat the crisis, the Taiwanese government declared Martial Law. However, this did nothing, and chaos and panic grew. In order to maintain order, the Taiwanese Ministry of the Interior, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, wrote up a new Battle Royale act. This was also called by the name "儿童的战争" or "Children's War"
It proved unpopular, but people were forced to concede. Similar to the Battle Royale of Japan, it was to be broadcast on TV, the radio, and internet streaming across the country. The winner would be given money, fame, and a full ride to their choice college regardless of Exam scores. The losers would have their bodies cleaned up by soldiers. This was a form of riot control, and the game was a form of population control.
Now, the 7th Annual Battle Royale has come, and your class, the Third Years at Saint John Bosco Academy, have been chosen. Good Luck.

Saint John Bosco Academy
"Ab Uno Disce Omnes"
A Catholic School in Taipei, Saint John Bosco caters to the children of Taipei upper class as well as the children of foreign dignitaries. Despite its Christian base, you do not have to be Christian to go there, and the only classes to get into religion are in the Seminary track.
The uniforms are in the school colors. The school's coat of arms is on the uniform. The blazers are a breathable fabric that is light, but prone to tearing. The shoes are standard dress shoes. Females wear skirts all year round, whereas males must change into shorts during the spring.
The school itself follows normal paths that the average Taiwanese High School follows to prepare for college. There are 4 groups one can be in compared to the normal 3:
Group I: The Liberal Arts
Group II: The Sciences
Group III: The Sciences + Biology
Group IV: Seminary and Religious education
Field trips are frequently taken by individual groups, however, there is usually a yearly trip for the entire school.
