Changes

She nods a bit, she appreciated what help he was giving her. It was good information but she really hoped that she wouldn't have to fight a dragon, even she knew that was a death sentence. She would have to get really lucky if she was to beat a dragon or at least that was her thinking on it. So most dragons would have a mark, a kill mark. She still hoped that she wouldn't ever had to do such a thing.

Running her fingers through her hair again, she stared at the flames once more. Fire, it was always soothing to her. "The boss's son may have information on if his father was seeing anyone and who that someone might be. As well as what the man was getting into. The head guard told me as much but it may be impossible to get near him at this time. Everyone is out for my head." She says and shakes her head as she braids her hair back.

Giving a yawn the dragon glances at her, "Then use Maelith to draw him out of safety," He suggested. The dragon would be nearby of course as he wouldn't let harm come to the human, "If we can get him to relax and talk to us life will be easier. If not I'll just eat him and be done with it," He smirked. If she hadn't caught on yet, he wouldn't eat any one ever.

She found herself rolling her eyes at his words about eating the man. Sighing a little she leaned forward in her own chair. "Drawing him out and getting him to talk isn't what concerns me." She looks to him quietly, thinking it all over. They could draw the son out, that would be easy and getting him to talk just as easy but she wasn't sure. Using the other woman was what concerned her the most. She didn't like bringing the woman into this anymore than she already was.

"Let me call my brother....Maybe he will be able to talk to the son without having to use Maelith." She moves to her feet, grabbing her jacket and taking the phone from the pocket. She made the call and waited for an answer. It was quick and his voice was steady as always.

"They are hunting hard for you little sister." He said then sighs. "Are you safe?"

The question threw her off. Her brother never asked after her. It made her wonder if he had told their parents of the situtation. "I'm safe. Any news?"

"Only that you are a dragon and they have brought in a supposed expert to track you down. Drak wants your head on a spike." He says, then adds. "He does think that you were apparently seeing his father in secret. What to tell me anything else sis?"

She tenses and closes her eyes. "Well for starters big bro, I'm sure if I was a dragon you would know by now and also if I was seeing anyone, especially the boss, you know the entire guard would be aware of it." She grits her teeth, then opens her eyes.

"Mother and father are threatening to come down from the mountain little sister. If you know who really did this, then you better solve this before they do. They are not at all rusty in their skills." His voice warned, before the line went dead.

The threat was very clear. Get results before her father and mother came down and brought hell with them. She grimaces at the thought. She looks to the male and shakes her head.

The male tried not to listen to the converstation but nothing got past his sharp ears sadly, "Mommy and Daddy sound scary," he was trying to be friendly while trying to figure out how deep he would have to get into all of this, "You are welcome to stay here as long as you like but first you must tell me about your family. How dangerous are they going to be to Maelith?" The dragon was demanding for her to be transparent to him after all he had just told her how to kill him. Cracking his neck he stood and shrugged off his coat, "Come it will help us to work on making you better suited to going up against my kind while you tell me about you."

He lead her further into the cave system where there was less light but clearly enough space for seven or eight of his kind to move about without ever bumping into each other. A rack of weapons sat against the left wall while the right was lined with dummies in varoius states of destruction.

The idea of telling him about her parents was a haunting idea. She didn't want to tell him about her life but she knew it would be good to tell him. It was strange, she didn't talk to anyone about her family, not even those who knew them. It was when he offered to do it while he trained her. Training was always a way for her to clear her mind and she welcomed that. The sight of the dummies made her remember that this wasn't going to be a normal training session as she had done before.

She gazed at him a little then said. "With my parents, they were the top killers and the first to ever have a family. It was rare to have one in this line of work." She shakes her head a little, then focused on training. "They will not harm her. She is trying to help me and she will be under their protection for that very reason. According to my brother...they are not happy at all about what is going on. If anything they will come for me as the others are to get answers but not for my head."

"My family is well known all through this life for what they have done and were respected enough to be left alone to retire when they had decided to." She says to him.

Damien nodded slightly as he moved towards her. He tapped the tattoo on his chest, "Try and land a hit here," He tells her while listening to her tell him a bit about her family, "I don't see humans being able to command such authority," he commented softly, "Does your parents often try and keep to themselves? Even when going on missions?" He was trying to understand why he felt that she wasn't looking at her family correctly. It was odd that he found himself thinking such behavior as running off to the mountains was a dragon's behavior.

Moving with a fluid motion she aimed for his chest, wanting to understand how he would respond and move to her attacks on him. His questions seeming strange to her. "I never thought of how they did their jobs but yes. They rarely dealt with anyone and never tolerated being questioned even when they were in social settings." She shakes her head "But all of us are bad in a social setting, never thought anything of it." She pivots sharply and aimed again for the chest after he had blocked her first attempt. She had to get faster. That much was clear.

Damien twisted as he brought his left arm up to block her attack. She was far too slow and prodictable at this point. His expression would have stated as much, "Social isn't a dragon's strong point but we tend to be worse than your kind. We can't stand to be near any one unless it is someone we love or have deep respect for," As she came at him a second time this time quicker he blocked with his right arm then kicked out his left foot aiming to trip her.

She felt his foot connect with her leg but instead of hitting the ground hard, she pivoted and rolled with the movement. She rolled on the ground and came up sharply with a sharp hit that she hoped would hit home. Then his words sank in and she faulted a little. "What are you talking about..." She stared at him then shakes her head. "They are just assassins....nothing else..." She says as she stares at him.

The dragon grabbed the foot that nearly made contact with his chest. He held her there while staring down at her with those golden eyes, "Only one of your parents would have to be different for such strange behaviors to appear," He informed her before pushing her aways using that foot he still held. The male let her go, "Either way halflings aren't likely to ever feel the need or desire to change into their other form. Like us full-bloods."

He moved over to her, "Let me say this. Humans don't have hair like yours. Dragons do. If you can transform into one it will make you stronger. I don't know how much stronger but more than most humans."

She caught her balance as he pushed her back. Her eyes were still focused on him. Was he really telling her what she thought he was. The first thing she wanted to do was deny it all but too much added up. Too much of it made sense but why had she never thought about it before. Her parents, why would they never tell her? Would her brother know? It made her want to face her parents that moment and question them.

He held his hand out calling a ball of fire to float above the flesh, "Opening some questions in your mind are we?" He nodded, "Good, I'm sure there is a good reason for them keeping it from you. But it is never useful," Damien moved to sit near the weapons rack letting the fire vanish, "Only you can answer those questions."

She shakes her head and rubs her head. "Questions I'm afraid to hear the answers too..." she mutters and looks to him. Then the various weapons that sat on the racks.

"They trained me to be good at killing, good at doing the job. Same with my brother." She groans a little. Then looks at him. "Don't tell Maelith until I get a for sure answer. " She says and now wondered how did she even begin to ask her parents.

She looks to him. "I think trying to change into a dragon will be easy than asking my parents for answers. Is that wrong?"

The male shook his head, "It's not wrong and I won't tell her. That's something you have to get around to if it ends up being true," He leaned back clearly perparing to watch her try and do what he did easily. Could he even remember what his first change was like? Yeah. It was terrifying while managing to be exciting.

She nods slightly and was glad he agreed about not telling Maelith yet. A dragon? This day was so crazy. She rubs her head then shakes it again. Was she really ready for this? That was something she wasn't sure of.

Before she even had the thought to figure it out though her phone went off. She pulls it out, eyeing it. Then tenses. "Oh you have to be kidding me...."

She closes her eyes as she answers. "Hey daddy...."

"We need to talk." His voice was thick and had a growl to it.

She paled a little and nods. "Yes sir. Location?"

"You know the place." And the phone went dead.

She sighs and shakes her head. "So much for not talking to the parents...."

The dragon stood, "I may as well go with you. Maelith will likely be alseep for most of the day, if not all of it and on into tomorrow. I gave her a potion that heals her heart while she sleep," The male glanced about the room, "Plus it would take you days to get any where near the city we came from," Slowly he headed into the main room to get his coat again, "So I will teleport you where you need to go and wait around for you to finish your business," It was almost as if he wasn't giving her much of an option on the mater.

She rubs her temples a little as she follows the male to the other room.she shakes her head but saw the look she got. "Fine...."she mutters then shakes her head again.

"There is a park at the edge of the city with paths that lead to the mountain, that is where I'm to meet him."

She pulls her jacket on. Ignoring her wounds.

Thankful that she isn't fighting him he holds his hand out to her, "Trust is a double edged blade. We will both be injured if we let it," He was trying to say that she should trust him as he was trusting her. After all he figured she didn't know what it really meant for a dragon to let some one they didn't know into their inner sanctuary. Once she had given him her hand that warmth would surround her before the darkness. A moment later they would appear a few yards down one of the mountain paths from the garden. He often met Maelith here for dinner that she cooked.

Taking a deep breath, she steadied herself. She glances to the male and nods a bit. "Thank you and considering I'm allowing you near my parents...I trust you more than you may realize. " She sighs and starts walking down the path a little.

She groans a little and mutters. "Him and I don't talk with words but with sparring...please don't interfere." Just as she finished those words a large male with jet black hair and a small beard that was just as black stepped from the shadows.

It was the look in his golden eyes that made her sure this was going to hurt. Without any words, they went for each other. The male wasn't holding back as he usually did and struck hard. She took the hit and absorbed it as she rolled with it to get back up. They sparred for a good half hour before it ended with her on the ground and barely able to stand.

"Serina, you've gotten soft tending to that shop. You used to fight harder. Your wounds are no excuse child of mine." He sighed. "I know you did not kill the boss but I'm sure given who is with you that you know more now."

She sat up but didn't stand yet, she could feel the bruising already. It was the anger in her eyes that surprised the male. "You should have told me!"

The dragon simply nodded not thinking much of it till he saw the male she was to fight. No age showed on him and his eyes. Gold like his own. He settled in for a long drug out fight that would make him wince every time the girl hit the ground. He was grateful he had given her some of the salve from earlier as she wounds would have been bleeding again had he not.

He smirked slightly as she was chastized for being soft. Dragons tended to be harsh on their young, "Don't drag me into ya'lls squable," He told the male sharply, "You should have told her. Our kind grows thin and you think its better to keep things on the down low."

The male dragon stood as he walked over to the pair to help Serina up off the ground. And give the other male a better look up and down. He guessed he could be one of the shadow dragons but had reason to doubt that after all in this day and age it was easy to change the color of ones hair and it would stay till the dragon next shifted same with tattoos besides the birthmark on their chests.
