Changes

Serina blinked a little at those words. Make up her mind? What did that mean? Before she could ask Maelith, the magic from her mother began to work. Her eyes widen and she gasps in surprise at the reveal of the woman.

Things were getting stranger for sure. Lisa dusted her hands off a little and the magic began to settle around them.

Her eyes flicker slightly. "Let me call my husband home. You all must move quickly."

Just as she turned to walk away, her steps faltered. Serina went to her mother as the older woman gripped her chest.

It was the look in her eyes that told Serina something horrible had happened even before she spoke the words. "Your father....he's gone..."

Serina shakes her head slightly, but there was no denying the truth in her mother's eyes. Her father was dead.

Something changed in her eyes, something darker. " who?"

Her mother shook her head. "In time you will face them. Not now. You are not ready."

Maelith turned to look at Serina's mother, "My thanks to you," She murmured, "You should hold the fort down here and rest. We will deal with the things that have occured."

Damien stared down at Maelith unsure what to think or do. Part of him realized the person wasn't who he thought it was while another insisted there could only be one person inside Mael. After a moment he glanced at Serina, "Do you wanna be a dragon or do you want to continue being human?" It was an honest question. Mothers and fathers always feared what would happen to their children but only the children can determine when they are ready to leave the nest.

Taelie stepped away from the group and transformed into a large silver dragon with a red main and furred tip tail. Her emerald eyes stared down at the group. She was ready to face her lover in battle if need be. She prayed it wouldn't come to that. Maelith patted the female's forearm, "Like the flowers we all must bloom."

Serina looks to Damien and nods. "Teach me to be a dragon." She fought back the tears that threaten to fall. Her father was dead and she would make the killer pay.

Lisa nods a little as she gazed at the group. They would face much but they were strong enough. Only they could stop all from turning to chaos.

Damien smiled at Serina as he leaned in slightly, "Imagine fire engulfing your entire person. Look for the form that is your dragon and drag it to you," He explained softly in the only way he could think of to get her to understand what it was she should be thinking about. He could force her to change but that often was very painful especially for the first time.

Maelith smiled softly from her spot and gave a wink to Lisa. It was acknowledgement that this would be hard for her to watch but everything would be okay.

Lisa stood and watched as she knew her daughter was about to do the hardest thing for most young dragons and more so for a half breed. She bites her bottom lip and stands silent.

Serina nods at Damien's words. She closed her eyes, letting her mind open, letting it wander to the depths of her own mind. She thought of her father and the dragon he was, then she thought of the dragon she would be. It was quick to see what she would be. A glistening hue began to cover her skin and surround her body. It emitted a heat that rivaled even the strongest of flames. Soon a pain took hold of her and she fell to her knees and looked up at the moon. Her eyes seemed to be glowing with the brightness. The color of pure blue flames.

It took several long moments, long breaths, as if the change may not happen but then with a sudden surge as the moon's light seemed to glow upon her form, the change began.

Her frame began to elongate and build in size. Her skin changing to pure white scales. As her maw would change, a rumbling growl would echo from her throat. Soon after those long moments, in her place stood a large asian dragon with scales as pure as the moon's light. Her long body curled a little before claws dug into the earth to steady her. A rumbling roar echoed from her before she turns her eyes to him. Instead of them being blue like the flaming hue that seemed to reside around her body, they were black, her anger and thirst for blood and death clear.

Damien found himself amuzed by her. Her transformation had been a hard one. Even he could tell. The final product that stared down at him made him grin slightly, "Easy, Twinkles, you can loose yourself to the blood lust and kill those close to you if it takes you over," With that he shifted as well. His over all form taller than hers but some what shorter. Leaning his head down he sniffed at her. It was a way of keeping track of who was near. He did the same with the other dragoness who growled and snapped her jaws at him. It was normal behavior for a mated dragon. He kept his head tilted away.

Maelith just smiled softly as she motioned for Taelie to lower her head so she could mount and be safe in the tangle of red hair. Taelie only waited a second for taking off into the sky. Damien was a little slower mostly because he wanted to make sure Serina could fly with them. If not he would carry her in her human form.

Serina gently lowered her head and nuzzled her mother gently. She then rose to her full height and looked to the sky and the others in flight. She didn't have wings as most dragons did but her body would fly like a snake moving through the air. With a surge of energy, it took her a few steps before she was up in the air.

Her body flowed beside the others once she got to the air. She was still a little fresh to it and it took her some time to get used to it. Once she was though, she flowed through the air beside the others. Damien's words staying fresh in her mind as they flew. The nickname he had called her wasn't what bothered her, it was the truth of what he spoke. She had to be smart about all she did. It was time for the killer part of her to take over, that part of her that was good at the job. Good at killing and surviving.

Damien enjoyed flying over all other things he could do. It showed in his playful manner of showing off. A twist here and turn there simply keeping his mind active while flying in a straight line. His antics annoyed Taelie but amused Maelith to no end. She was impressed with the kind of dragon Serina had become. She had less experience with the asian variety. They were graceful and beautiful.

A soft rasping roar escaped Taelie's maw as she demanded they stay close and not get lost. Maelith glanced about below them. The fear of heights gone for now as she was being possessed by a past life. Cael always loved being high up where he could see what the dragons saw. The ground they saw now was scorched and torn. It made the female frown, "Are we late to the party?" She asked.

Serina smiled as she watched Damien fly. He was amusing but despite him being a different dragon, how he handle the wind and the air, helped her to fly better. It took her a moment more of flying before she was joining in on the fun. It helped to ease her mind for the moment.

When they were scolded though she refocused on the matter at hand. Her eyes narrow as she saw the scorched earth below.

Moving gently, she flew a little lower and took in the scents before rising back up to the others. "My father was here." She growls a little. His scent was strong here. It had to have been where he took his last breath.

Maelith had a moment's pause before part of the blackened soil moved and glanced up at them. The black dragon only had one ruby red eye that focused on the group. He let out a sharp echoing roar that caused Tealie to pause before skirting back around to land a few yards away from the clearly male beast. Maelith wiggled till she slipped to the ground and moved to get away from the pair that sniffed at one another gently before they decided they were aware of who the other was. Trans forming into their human forms the woman threw herself into the dark haired male's embrase.

He was large and burly. A black kelt was wrapped about his strong hips he was bare from the chest up except for the vibrant black tattoo that snaked its way up from his heart to the missing right eye. His strong jaw showed his sadness at this moment. He glanced at Damien as he landed and transformed. Maelith stared at the pair for a moment, "I know you didn't do this. Who did?"

The black dragon held the now sobbing red head to him, "The hunters... They have made something... It's like us but not. It's," He paused as his gaze danced over the white dragon form of Serina. It was in his eye that he had seen that form some where else but it hadn't been like this one before him now, "Show who you are, Hatchling," He demanded. He clearly could tell she hadn't been in this form long but still didn't trust it.

Damien explained that to reverse the process was to do the same process but look for her human form in the flames. Though he guessed she might have figured this out already.

Serina watched as the others landed and followed their example. Her landing smooth but her talons gripped the ground to regain balance. Her eyes were on the male and she moved a little but stayed still. Answers, she wanted answers. Her father's scent was here.

When he requested her to change form, she looked to Damien for instructions. As soon as he had given them, it took her a moment but she was soon able to reverse her transition and return to her human form wearing her killing gear now.

"Morty," Maelith chimed, "Please answer my question and I will share what I know," She was trying to get him back on page and off the Serina.

Damien stepped closer to Serina as if claiming her as his to protect. And in a way she was. He had helped her become what she was in her heart. His golden eyes glanced at the female as if suggesting with the look around to simply not try killing the other just yet.

Morty as Maelith called him glared at her, "Cael," He clipped, "You know I hate that name." He decided it wasn't worth trying to correct the mortal, "What they have made is similar to Taelie. But instead of it being a proper change it is mad with blood lust. She looks like her," He motioned to Serina, "It's only because of her appearant newness that tells me they aren't the same."

Maelith bit her lip, "Not good..."

She watched the male named Morty carefully. She was getting impatient but when Damien came over to her, it calmed her a little as she scolded herself, trying to remain patient.

At the mention of a dragon like her, she tenses up. She looks to Maelith. "Don't you still have that scale the guards gave us?" Now wondering if the dragon was her aunt as her father had claimed the killer to be and if so had her father gone after the dragon himself?

Maelith frowned slightly as she patted herself down then smiled as she fished the scale from her front pocket, "Yep!" She smirked then gave a glance at Morty, "Care to tell me when you got your ass out of that hole?"

The black dragon huffed at her, "When I'm good and ready and not feeling the need to eat you."

She stuck her tongue out at him. Taelie simply chuckled, "Children there will be time enough for ya'll to take cheep shots at each other later."

Damien simply laughted under his breath. He found the interactions entertaining and relaxing.

Serina was only getting impatient with everyone. Her father was dead and her aunt was possibly the killer dragon and they were all joking.

She clenched her hands a little then forced herself to relax and stay calm. "The dragon you saw, that you say looked like me, that scale, does it look like it belongs to the dragon you saw?"

The black dragon glanced at the scale, "Yes but perhaps you don't understand. She looked exactly like you. Grey white hair and a white dragon. A twin perhaps? But pure bloods don't have twins that look alike," He told her sternly. He was a harsh toned male. It was thanks to his many years of handling the harshness of battle and life.

Maelith blinked, "A clone?" She knitted her brows in worry. Cloning dragons was dangerous as the clone often didn't have the control needed to keep from destroying all that surrounded them, "Martin are you sure?"

Damien blinked in surprise as he leaned towards Serina, "This isn't good."

She shakes her head. "How is that possible? Father was sure it was his sister doing the killing. Could they have cloned her? I mean I can't be the one they cloned. I just learned to turn into a dragon today. He'll I just learned I was a dragon in the past few days."

She had ignored the tone of the male. She was used to her father's, her father.. she looks to the moon and takes a deep breath. "Did you see another male dragon?"

The male noticed her look, "He was dead when I arrived. I simply completed the ritural or returning him to the earth," He admitted that he had turned this area to ash but for a reason he knew to be right and a tradition. Dragons were fire and earth when the fire died out the body was returned to the earth in the way of fire. "If it was your aunt then she and you look far too much alike for things to be easy to tell apart," He frowned as he glanced around them. There wasn't any telling how old he was but it was easy to see that he had seem any things over those years.

Maelith glanced to Serina then, "We should get go somewhere safer than out here," She warned softly.

Damien put an arm around Serina's shoulders, "You have much to learn but I wouldn't try changing form again if I was you. It would use a lot of magic for someone who isn't used to the processs."

She felt she should thank the male for tending to her father in the way of his kind but she couldn't say anything. All she could do was nod.

How often was it that she thought the man could never be stopped and had never faced anything that he couldn't destroy. Yet he was gone. He wasn't going to be there any more.

When Damien spoke of her not changing again, she once more only nodded that she understood. She was feeling numbing at the moment. So much had changed and so much had been taken. She felt so number now. There wasn't anything else that she could feel at that moment. She hadn't slept or eaten since all of this had started and the first change was taking its effect. But she felt none of it. She was too numb to even think. She was staring at the scorched ground where her father had been laid to rest.

Martin stepped up to the younger dragon and held his hand out to her. In its center was a dragon's scale. It was a little different from the one that had been shown to him. This on had blood on it, "You should take this to your mother," He told her, "It will give her something to remember him by. The world you knew is long gone and there is nothing that can bring it back. We must travel and you have to be clear minded."

Damien stared in surprise at the other male, "Serina. When we get to a safe place let's rest." He too had not been taking care of himself.

Maelith frowned then looked to Tealie who smiled softly then used the one power she had. A door formed before her, "This way," She called as she pushed it open on the otherside was the scene of Serina's parents' home looking out at the yard.
