Conley Brothers

Camilla saw him relax so she took her time washing his hair, rinsing several times to get all the soap and grime out, lastly she gently wiped the smears off his back "Does that feel better?" she asked after she finished, he certainly looked better, thought had a ways to go yet before he was recovered

He stretch and rolled his neck. That had been a bit of an uncomfortable position, but it had been worth it. He studied the long bit of now clean hair. Maybe he should try combing it with his fingers. He nodded in satisfaction. "Better," he rasped.

She smiled a little "good..now why don't I tend to those last few cuts and then you can rest" she said before dragging the second bucket out and fetching the first aid kit to tend to the last of them, deciding better of risking using her magic more

He turned, letting her see his back. "They do not hurt much," he said softly. They still stung a bit, but he was used to something hurting at all times. He couldn't remember a time when he didn't hurt.

The cuts were almost all closed now, though some were deceptively deeper than they appeared for their small appearance on the outside. Most were centered around his spines along his back with two on either side near his shoulders. The ones on his shoulders didn't seem to be for anything in particular, but more like someone was preparing to do some kind of surgery.

"Well we don't want them infected though" she said "I can't use more magic today so it will sting just a little when I clean them" she cautioned "but then kt will feel better" she promised before getting to work on the cuts.

It was strange though. Even not using magic being here was draining. She didn't understand it

He didn't even flinch as she worked on him. The stings almost felt good in a strange way. It was like a good pain. It felt like a deep clean. He sighed softly in satisfaction. He'd never been cared for like this. Even if it was just for a moment, it was nice that it happened at all.

It didn't take her too terribly long to clean dress and bandage each of the left over cuts "There nearly as good as new" she smiled and moved back from him again "I have one more thing for you" she said before climbing back out.

After a few moments she came back with a soft blanket and a pillow, she set them down on the inside "Here, this should make you more comfortable"

He stared at them. Then after a long second of silence, he reached out and touched the pillow. Then poked it lightly. "For me?" he whispered. His fingers caressed the blanket. They were too soft! Too new! He did not deserve them.

she nodded "For you, they belong to you now" She told him gently "Do you like them?" she asked, by the way he stared he guessed he had never been given anything new, it was so sad to think about that but, he was in a much better place now

"Soft," was all he said as he started petting the blanket. It was so soft! He hoped he would not rip this one. He would have to take extra good care of it. And the pillow? It was so squishy! He had this urge to hug it, but he wouldn't as long as Camilla was there. He had to remember, this gift of softness might be a trap to get him to let down his guard before she did something painful to him. Petting the blanket made that hard to remember.

Camilla smiled "I'll take that as a yes" she said softly "Rest, I'll come back tomorrow to see you" she said before lowering the tarp again to once more leave him in peace.

With that she headed off again, maybe she would go see Vlad, he'd promised she could ride the unicorns but she was much to tired for that, be good to just sit and visit for a little while, perhaps get to know his new little friend Starnacht. She always made a point of getting to know everyone

Claudius waited until the tarp was returned. Then he curled up in his nest of torn and shredded blankets and carefully pulled his new blanket over him, moving with caution as he tried not to let it snag on any of his spines. Once he succeeded with that, he curled up with the pillow in his arms like a teddy bear. He sniffed it but smelled nothing but a slight mustiness from disuse and the scent of the female. Satisfied, he tucked his head into the pillow and slowly drifted off to a restful sleep.

Vlad sat on the steps to his wagon, his sewing in hand. He had found a tear in his favorite jacket and was carefully fixing it as he hummed lightly.

Camilla found him easily enough "Hey Vlad" she called when she came closer to where he was sitting, she hadn't forgotten the unicorns, a couple of long fresh carrots she'd snatched on the way in one hand, she always managed to bring them a treat whenever she happened by

Vlad looked up and smiled brightly. "Ah, Miss Camilla!" he greeted fondly. "Have you come to visit me or perhaps my unicorns?"

She smiled "Both actually" she said with a smile, it was always such a pleasure to visit with him. She first went to the unicorns though, seeing as how they were already eye balling the carrots "I hear it was a little bit of a crazy afternoon in the ring" she said conversationally as she fed the animals by hand and gave them each pets.

The unicorns happily nudged close to Camilla. Regina took her treat politely and stood crunching the carrot with her horn resting lightly on Camilla's shoulder as if her head was too heavy to hold up. Negru was a little more sloppy, and he drooled all over as he crunched down his carrot.

"Yes, things did go a bit askew," Vlad admitted as he tied the last knot. He set the coat aside and picked up a new vest he'd been making. This one had odd holes in the back. "With the fire, the usual program was disrupted, and we had to rearrange quite a few things. Even so, your brother improvised beautifully.

Camilla stroked Ragina's neck gently, it was soothing being around these two, even when Negru was being sloppy. There was just something calming about unicorns that drew her in.

"Maybe it will bring Felix's spark back, he used to really enjoy preforming you know... now it's just a job... the last few years have changed him, the bigger the circus gets the more he gets lost" she sighed, not entirely blind to the change just to what was causing it.

"I remember those days," Vlad said with a faint smile. "He was such a brilliant performer then, but some of the shine has been lost along with his spark. Perhaps he will find it again." Somehow, Vlad doubted it, but he could not break Camilla's hopes.

Camilla finally turned her eyes on him instead of his animals "I wish he'd take on another ringmaster, I know Leon has no interest but who has to know the second one isn't a Conly? I think maybe he is just tired" she explained her theory, speaking of tired, Camilla looked that way herself which was strange, she always seemed to have endless amounts of energy

"I think your brother has difficulty sharing control in certain areas," Vlad replied. "He is very good at deligation, but he still must remain in control. It's how he feels safe." He looked up from his sewing and smiled at Camilla. "Why don't you come in for a cup of tea? Starnacht may be up soon, and I know you will want to greet him."
