He nodded and stowed the contract away somewhere in his jacket "yes that is another thing I wished to speak to you about" he nodded a little "we have a few spare I can have modified for your needs"
 
"Have a look whenever you like. There are three back behind Adanya's. Just being used for storage now. I believe Spectra is heading there now to select one for herself as well" that meant hers was beyond saving
 
Vlad nodded and started moving back with a brilliant smile. "Thank you so much, Felix! You are so kind to look after all of us loustabouts."
 
Felix rolled his eyes "let's not pretend. I know you dislike my Vlad" he said with a frown before he started off to go tend to some other things
 
Vlad shrugged. "That does not mean I cannot appreciate when someone is trying." He turned to Starnacht. "Now, then, let's get you inside, little one."
 
Star nodded a little and hurried over to the wagon and climbed in, feeling safer already just being inside
 
Vlad followed him, closing the door quietly behind himself. He sat down on the bench seat and looked at Star worriedly. "Are you alright, Star?" he asked gently.
 
Star nodded a little and climbed up on to the bench beside him "Felix scary...." he couldn't pinpoint why, he could just tell... like a dog good sense if someone was a bad person or not.
 
Vlad sighed. "Yes... Felix is scary," he agreed quietly. "He does protect us and look after us, but he is a bit... different."
 
His brow furrowed a little "different?" He repeated the word "what kind different?: he was trying to grasp what that feeling was he got from Felix. Maybe if he put a name to it, wouldn't be as scary
 
"Intense. Secretive." Vlad hesitated then decided to confide a little. "You must not mention this to anyone else, Star, understand? It must be a secret. I do not think Felix is always looking out for us. I think he may have his own plans he uses us for. I worry what those plans and secretive things may be, but I have no proof, and we are all bound by his contracts. That is why I did not want you to sign today. I hope what I did spares you. Even so, despite all this, the fact is that he does provide us with work and a home, and he takes care of us all very well. I cannot ignore that."
 
Star listened and nodded slowly, thinking he understood at least somewhat "no telling" he promised first "Felix..a master..take care as long as do good job...do bad job be punish"
 
Vlad nodded. "Exactly right. And I will look after you. I promise you that." He patted Star gently on the shoulder. "Now, you should probably get some sleep, hmm? Unless you'd like to see the twins first?"
 
"He rubbed his tired eyes, it was a lot of strain to see during the day "they come soon?" He asked "like to see but eyes too tired now"
 
He nodded "miss Camilla make good food" he said, used to not eating much, felt like plenty to him "miss Camilla sister to Felix?"
 
Vlad nodded. "For some reason, Felix does not like to make that well known, but yes. Felix, Leon, and Camilla are siblings." He paused a moment. "Have you met Leon?" he asked, truly unable to remember.

Noise from outside announced the return of the twins as they galloped toward the wagon, happily chattering away.
 
He shook his head "no Leon" he answered "but....her smell not....not human" he couldnt put a finger on it " not bad but not same as Felix" he glanced towards the door and smiled a little, he did like the twins
 
Vlad had no answer to that. He understood what Starnacht meant as he, too, could tell the brother and sister were not quite the same, but Camilla had never chosen to divulge, and he did not ask. He knew she was different, though not exactly how she was different, but was content to leave it at that.

The door flung open, and the twins tumbled in, giggling excitedly. "Hi! We worked hard! We did a lot of stuff! And we didn't take anything!"

"Good boys!" Vlad praised cheerfully.
