Conley Brothers

"Masters?" He repeated and blinked then shook his head "Masters here. All equal" he repeated what Vlad had told him "look see" he stood up and used the long end of his tail to slide between the bars and lift the latch from inside. "No lock" he looked back at his mew friend. Not scared of him now.

--

"Come sit" he guided Keith to sit at the table where he had been sitting a moment ago. "What did this to you Keith?" He frowned pushing Keith's hand aside to have a look

Claudius jumped and withdrew from the unlatched door. He remembered trying to escape. He remembered desperation, fear, and the sheer agony that had followed more clearly than anything else. Once upon a time he'd had the spirit to try to escape, but that spirit had long been broken.

~~

"Chasing," Keith tried to explain as blood dripped down his face. "There was a looky-loo, and I chased him. Almost caught him! Then there was pain. He hurt my face, Master!" In the dark and with the suddenness of the attack, Keith had made the mistake of thinking Star had attcked when cornered.

He pulled it closed again and replaced the latch before sitting back in the corner, not understanding but not pushing it either "closed now. It's ok" he said then wrapped up in the blanket again, deciding he would stay here until morning. He was very tired.

--

"We'll take care of it tomorrow" he frowned as he tended to Keiths face "Leon..fetch Camilla would you?"

Claudius relaxed a little when Starnacht closed the door. Closed. Locked. That was better. Who and what was this little creature that he misunderstood the world so much? Surely he must be an experiment like he was, wasn't he? Then again, maybe not, but if not, then what was he?

He sighed and laid down in his nest, curling up tight. He wasn't used to actually thinking about so many real questions. It was taxing his brain, which made him feel foolishly weak. Whatever was going on, he wanted to rest a bit. He didn't mind Star staying. The little fellow was quiet and unobtrusive, unlike others he'd seen. Let him stay.

~~

Leon nodded and headed for the door. "Sure thing" Keith was freaking him out in a different way from normal. He looked pitiful and frightened, like a stray mongrel looking for help or a kicked child. It was weird! He walked out and went over to knock on their sister's door.

Starnacht let him be after than and curled up again, very catlike. Tired and feeling a bit more comfortable and safe he could sleep. He supposed this would make it easier to stay up

--

It took her a few moments to come to the door, having been mostly asleep. She did come though "Leon?" She rubbed the sleep from her eyes "what's going on?"

"I'm sorry, love, but we have a bit of a situation," Leon apologized. "There's been an accident and one of the members is hurt. Could you come attend to him?"

"Oh..yes of course" she nodded without question or hesitation, she pulled the ties of her robe tighter, not bothering to change "where is he?"

Camilla quickly followed him into Felix's wagon, surprised to find her brother trying to attend to Keith "here let me see" she pulled a chair up by Keiths, Felix backed off to let her tend him "Oh you poor thing" she said, innocent of what he was truly like

Keith looked at Camilla and whimpered, "It hurt me, miss. Scratched me up like a cat. Will you make it stop hurting?"

Leon raised a brow but said nothing.

"Yes I'll make the pain go away" she promised gently before placing a hand carefully near the wound and closed her eyes to focus, as she healed the cuts though her brow furrowed like she was in pain and her breathing grew more labored

Felix stood by watching

Keith's eyes glazed over and he swayed slightly. This felt strange. Not right. He didn't think he liked this. It didn't hurt, but it felt like someone was trying to climb under his skin!

Leon frowned and stepped forward. "I think that's enough.

Camilla gasped as she pulled her hand back and opened her eyes. It had never hurt her to heal someone before. Not like this. She put a hand on her chest, feeling a strange tightness.

Thr scratches werent totally healed but enough they wouldn't leave a bad scar now but there likely would be one

"Camilla, are you alright?" Leon asked anxiously, stepping forward to catch her. "What happened?"

Keith frowned and rubbed his face. "Better, but I didn't like it." He tipped his head curiously as he watched Camilla. "Did something hurt you?"

Camilla leaned into Leon, feeling weak on top of the strange pain. "I don't know...this has never happened before" she said, the pain clear in her voice, she thought back to what Vlad had said about empathy but this was more than just being drained "I think..just rest..I'll be ok"

Felix frowned as he watched a moment longer "I'll finish the job...Leon stay with Camilla. I'll come over when I'm done with Keith"

Camilla followed him, the labored breathing easing a little when they were outside "that sounds lovely"

Leon helped her into her wagon and sat her down in a chair before starting the tea. Once he had the water boiling and had everything else ready, he turned to Camilla. "So, what was that?"

Camilla shook her head lightly "I don't know Leon...just this strange tightness in my chest..felt like someone was stabbing me" she tried to explain "That's never happened before" she rubbed her chest again frowning "it's going away now.."

"Good," Leon sighed in relief. The kettle whistled, and he poured the hot water into the cup. "Never, ever use your healing ability on Keith again. There seems to be some kind of break down between the two of you. Just stick to the traditional stuff."
