Conley Brothers

That made him stop and look at her. Someone wanted to share a secret? With him? He glanced around just to make certain. Yes, she was definitely talking to him. "Yes?" he said tentatively.

"Only my brothers know" she glanced around to make sure nobody was looking before she slipped a ring off her finger. A simple dull band she always wore.

For a moment, her image seemed to shimmer, then the glamour fell away. Her ears were longer and pointed and long horns curved back off her head and her legs were not human anymore either but that of a goat

Claudius' head came up suddenly and he looked at her with new eyes. He almost seemed to brighten, his expression more animated than it had been since he arrived. She was so different! She was...

"Beautiful," he whispered.

He did not mean it exactly in the sense many people might mean, but the fact that she was so similar to him, so graceful and elegant... he was in awe and slightly intimidated.

Camilla was a bit surprised by his reaction. Beautiful was not a word she would choose for herself. Likely because Felix found this half of her repulsive, hence why she hid it. Or why Felix did, having given her the ring. Come to think of it. She wasn't sure if Leon even knew or remembered.

"See...we're not so different...a lot of us here aren't human...you're safe here"

Claudius studied her for a moment longer then looked down at his own unnatural fingers. Her inhuman features blended seamlessly, transitioning smoothly from human to goatish and back. His features... he felt like some misshapen being, like those claves that were born with too many limbs.

"I was once human," he said slowly, his voice low. "I was not like this. I do not remember much, but I remember that."

Ahe couldn't imagine what it felt like to be so changed and against his will too. "What you were before "I'm sorry " she said softly to him "what happened to you was not eight or fair....but...most of is here are not human. This can be your home too"

Claudius still did not look at her, but he was listening. Listening and doubting, but there was a tiny glimmer of hope that had not been there before. He shifted, the cool floor hurting his joints after sitting still for so long.

"I do not know what home is, but it seems safe," he said simply. Oh, he knew what home was or meant, but not to him or for him. Perhaps someday.

She smiled softly and slipped her ring back on before anyone else might see "I'll show you" she didn't miss that glimmer of hope. Something had gotten through.

"Now...I have some presents for you" she climbed out and fetched what she had brought for him "I thought you might like some clothes.." she showed him the pair of pants she had gotten for him

Claudius tipped his head curiously. At first, he did not even fully register what they were. Then he brightened just slightly. "Pants?" he asked softly.

she smiled and nodded "Yes" she reached in and put them on the floor for him, looked like two pairs even. "Let me know if they don't fit, I got two sizes for you to try"

He reached out, touching the pant leg carefully. It felt so soft and rough at the same time. For the first time in he didn't know how long, he was going to wear clothing! Another first, he needed to stand up straight to put them on. Slowly, joints creaking painfully, he rose up, holding one pair of pants between fingertips as he forced his back to straighten and his knees to lift him. After years of living hunched over, he was more or less standing upright. He didn't quite make it straight, but it was good enough to awkwardly pull on the first pair. They were a little loose and felt strange against his skin, but they did not fall off. He shifted awkwardly then looked at Camilla.

She smiled, good to see him standing up "looks a bit loose" she said "But close, try the other pair see if it fits better, a little smaller" she said before looking away once more to give him privacy to try on the other pair

Claudius painfully working his way into the new pair. This pair was a little tighter, not as loose, and seemed to fit better. He shifted, testing his ability to move. Well, he wasn't tied down, but they weren't as comfortable to him. He didn't complain, though, just looked at her again.

when he stopped shifting she looked up and smiled again "Well... do you like them?" she asked "Do they feel good?"

"They are different. Warm," he said truthfully. He started to crouch down as he was used to then stopped suddenly. "Too tight," he admitted. The seams were stretching, and the waistband digging into him. Normally, these pants would be the right size, but this type of pant was not meant for someone who practically crawled through life.

"Where the bigger ones then" she said "Whatever is more comfortable" she glanced over as some horses were being lead over to hitch to the wagon "Alright... we're moving your wagon to be closer to mine where nobody will bother you ok?"

Claudius edged closer to the bars to look out. "Move?" he murmured then nodded. "Move." He was a little disappointed to e moving, though it took him a moment to realize why. If he moved, the little star creature might not find him again. That would be unfortuneate, but typical.

Camilla noticed the expression "you don't want to move?" She asked "why?" She didn't realize what he was worried about

He hesitated. Should he say anything? He didn't want to get the little star child in trouble, but she'd been kind, and he knew better than to lie. "Star creature," he murmured.
