Dark Stuides

She shakes her head a little." Almost nothing. Just stories." She mutters back to him.

Paul looked between the two. His hair had greyed more since the last time she had seen him but he looked more tired, tired like he did the day he pulled her from that room.

He nodded slightly, "Let me be honest then, Sir, you will want to sit down as you may not believe what you see next. Keep in mind that this will help you help her as what you are looking for isn't like yourself."

Paul stared at him a little, unsure but then again he wasn't sure this day could get weirder. He sits down at the kitchen table.

Mary wasn't sure but knew it was a good idea and she trusted Paul. He was a good man, good cop.

Hexel stared at Mary for a moment before he let the glamour once again drop. His demonic self was still something to behold even to those used to seeing all sorts of monsters. His long tail whipped back and forth slightly clearly annoyed, "Your prey is something similar to myself. You can cut our hearts out and we won't die. But we can be sealed."

Mary remained where she was sitting and watched as he revealed himself.

Paul's eyes widen at the site before him. "What the hell?!" He didn't get up or run screaming though. He stared at the male. It took him a long moment but he collected himself again and nods slightly. "Okay....ummmm what exactly are you....a demon...?" He looked at Mary who nodded.

Hexel sat down next to the man, "Yes a demon. I'm known as a fear collector. I gather the fear that others around me feel and feed off it," He leaned forward and rested his elbows on his knees the man you described sounds like my kind but one that has lost his original body. It's why you can't kill him."

His gaze drifted to Mary, "Love you are too quiet," He stood, strode over and knelt before her cupping her cheek, "I swore to you I would keep you safe. I will do so in such a way that you will grow sick of me. Also. Detective. You should get in touch with Markus the warlock... I will need to see him as well," He noted slightly.

Paul nodded at his words. "I'll get right on that." He got up and started making calls. He needed to find out where the creature could be now.

Mary blinks a little and looks to Hexel. "Will he really come here?" She asks.

He shrugs, "We need to know what he normally does to his victims. A demon that feeds on fear is going to do everything he can to induce as much fear as possible from his victims. I've normally lived off the fear that I gather from what people normally fear. Spiders and things of that sort. Nightmares too," He watched the human male.

Paul hesitates a little then looks to Mary. "Unfortunately, she will know a lot more about how he works than I will. I just find the bodies usually...we got lucky when we found her before he finished."

Mary trembles a bit, she didn't want to talk about any of it, didn't want to relive any of it.

Hexel did something he hadn't thought about doing when he noticed Mary's expression. He placed a hand on her head and let his magic devour her fear till the emotion was weaker, "Mary you have to tell me. It's the only way in which I can best keep you safe."

He was gentle with her and kind. His world so soft only she could really hear him.

She gazed at him a moment before she nods a bit. The tension in her shoulders easing as the fear faded a bit.

"He kept you in a small room. It's where he kept everyone, that's what he told me. He always wore a mask. He told me I was the first one had ever had to chain up and that made him happy. He would visit at random times so I never knew when he would come. He liked knives. If he could get me to scream or cry he was even more excited. When I grew numb though he would change it up. There were certain things he enjoyed more than others..." she trembles a little and rubs her arms slightly

The demon nodded, "He was feeding off you," He bit his lip slightly, "Mary he will try coming for you. His sort don't forgive a prey they didn't devour completely. It may take a little to get him to make a move. I will be expecting him to make a move when I'm not around. If you aren't with me don't leave the house."

Mary tensed are his words but nods a bit. "Okay."

Paul had finished his calls and nods. "The trail circled away from here for some time but is now leading back...I agree with him. At no point should you be alone."

Damien blinked at the sound of Mary's phone ringing. The sound of it startled him as he glanced at it then at Mary asking for her to get that with his eyes, "He's headed back here?" He frowned. How is that possible? The demon hummed softly to himself as he thought.

She moves to her feet and grabs her phone from her bag. "Hello.."

Paul shakes his head. "The trail showed him heading in the opposite direction but now from the evidence we've gathered, he's headed back this way. He may change direction again though...I'll need to go to the station and look into a few more things. "

Markus' voice greeted her on the other end, "I just wanted to let ya'll known that the human was possessed. The demon escaped before I found him. He's going to snatch another body likely be very careful. View every one as a possible enemy even those that you know," The warlocks voice shook slightly, "The fucking bastard killed..." He was trying not to break down, "I have to go. If ya'll need me come find me at the shop."

Damien glared slightly, "Detective. Do me a favor and stay a moment," he got some soil from one of the planters put it into a bowl before getting a kitchen knife and slicing open one of his palms. The blood that poured out was black instead of red like a humans. When he had enough he licked the wound closed before mixing the soil and blood. He then took a piece of paper towel twisted it till it was brush like then walked over, "Expose the inside of your left wrist please," He asked, "This should help keep him from getting a hold of you."

Mary was trembling and even after Markus had hung up, she hadn't lowered the phone yet. Her skin had paled. The demon was already here...the stalker. He had almost....she pushes the thoughts away, forcing herself to focus on something else. Anything else.

Smokey jumped in her lap and rubs gently against her, purring softly.

Paul hesitates a bit as he watched the demon work. He couldn't believe he was going along with all this but then again he was staring at a real demon. When Hexel came back over to him, she did as requested of him.

The demon painted a simple twistign trinaty knot on the males wrist which flared red before fading into the skin as if it was never there, "This should keep you from him. Don't work on the new moon night and stay in your house after night fall on that night."

After he finished with the detective he moved over to Mary. He would paint on her after the detective left after all he needed to place more wards on her as she was the target. He wrapped her in his arms and held her tightly, "I won't let him hurt you love."

Paul nods. "Got it. I'm gonna go get some things looked into. I'll call if I find anything. " The man looked to Mary with concern. He wanted to protect her from this but he knew when he was out of his league on this. He would do all he could though.

Mary was trying not to let the fear in. Trying to push it away and out of her mind. She curled up almost in his arms. "Why couldn't he have just stayed dead..." she mutters.

Hexel held her tightly to himself as he rocked her back and forth and feed from her fear, "You keep this up and I might never eat again," He told her softly, "Come let me show you how I'm going to make you not fear that other demon." He pulled her into her bedroom along with the makeshift brush and bowl of black ink, "Strip down as much as you feel comfortable. The more skin the better."
