Dark Stuides

She nods quietly, thinking once more before she spoke again. "To devour his soul....what would that do to you? Would you be harmed...?" She was worried for him more than what he would have to put her through for him to be able to do it.

Her state of mind was clearer than normal and thinking in a different way. Not with fear but with determination, carefully, thoughtfully.

He tilted his head in thought for a moment, "Little to nothing. If he's a powerful demon with lots of magic it will make me stronger if anything," He told her as he looked her over, "I'm not sure beyond that."

She nods a little. "I am considering letting you take what you need to defeat him. " She says honestly. "Will sleep on it and you should too." She says. Gently she touches his cheek and smiles softly. " want to be sure that no more damage is caused by this demon.

He nodded his understanding as he pulled her into his arms hugging her, "Go rest. I'll clean up then be in there shortly."

She hugged him back, relaxing a bit in his arms. She nods at his words. "Okay." She felt so tired all of a sudden.

Getting up, she gently petted Smokey then made her way to the bedroom. The cat followed after and jumped onto the bed after Mary had gotten settled and comfortable under the blankets.

After he cleaned the dishes the male wondered into the bedroom and scooted into bed with her. He was happy to see her already snoozing. Keeping this in mind he lounged under the covers in just his jeans. His warmth was noticable to anyone in the bed.

She slept until Morning, glad that he was there as through the night she had snuggled to him. Smokey laid on top of them.

As Morning began, she woke up and carefully moved from the bed to go make some hot chocolate or something, she wasn't sure yet what she wanted but something.

As she left the bedroom there was a knock on the door. She blinks a bit and moves to the door, peeking through the eye hole she saw no one there but a box.

Opening the door carefully she checked the hall then pulled the box inside. It was really that heavy and was addressed to her.

Setting it on the floor she opened it up and screamed. In side laid the head of her friend Cassie with the words. "No one lasts as long as you."

Hexel had woken slightly when the warmth in his arms moved away. He wanted to pull it back to him but instead opened his eyes as he watched the most beautiful woman he knew in this day and age get up and head out into the hall of the house. Smokey's light weight made him smile as he petted her head. Though the scream that came a moment later sent the cat flying to the far side of the room as jumped from the bed and rushed into the living room. The scent hit his nose hard as he dased over to Mary. Wrapping his arms around her he pulled her away from the box only to catch a glance of it. Forcefully he carried her into the bedroom and sat her on the bed, "Shush-shush," He cooed at her then wrapped his arms around her again, "I will handle it just give me the number for the detective and you stay in here with Smokey."

He already knew where the card the male had left was and was picking up Mary's cell on the way out of the bedroom to get it. Dialing it quickly he listened to the other end ring.

Her body was trembling as he wrapped his arms around her. She was rambling "Not Cassie....Not Cassie..." Shaking her head weakly. She barely recalled being brought to the bedroom and away from the horrific scene of her friend's head in a box with that note. Those words, she could hear them as if the demon had spoken them to her and they played in her head over and over again. Tears fell without her control. In Hexel's arms she still trembled as the effects of shock settled into her small frame. When he asked for the number, she couldn't recall if she had answered him or not. After he left to go make the call to the detective, she pulled the blankets around her, feeling so cold. Smokey was there, laying in Mary's lap and trying to provide comfort.

Paul answered on the second ring, his voice sounded exhausted as if he'd been pushing the long hours trying to get some where on the case. "Hello?"

"Get over here now," Was all Hexel growled before hitting the end button. He didn't trust himself not to rip something appart. He knew he had to find the other two soon to keep them safe. But how? He couldn't leave Mary. In his bout of rage his glamour was dropped as he wasn't concentrating on keeping it up. He quickly set about making something hot for the two to drink. He moved the box with the toe of his foot just to the left of the door so he could shut it. He upped his barriers around the property.

Mary stayed on the bed and didn't move from beneath the covers, her body still shaking but she had stopped her mumbling and fallen silent.

As soon as Paul heard Hexel's words and he hung up, he was headed over. It took him only five minutes to get there. He ran to the door, not sure what to expect when he arrived as he knocked on the door.

Hexel opened the door when the detective knocked, "You have a victim you need to find," He pointed to the box next to the door, "Mary found that just thirty minutes ago. He's going to try and draw her out. I won't let that happen. Find her other two friends bring them here. I refuse to let her feel that sort of pain."

He was too late for one. He wouldn't fail again.

Paul tenses as he was informed of what the killer had done. He took a look at the head in the box and knew instantly what friend of Mary's it was. He nods at Hexel's instructions. "They should be scheduled for class. I will go track them down now." He turned and left without any more orders needed because he understood. This monster was getting too close. Mary was like a daughter to him and it seemed the monster was willing to kill the entire city to get to her.

Paul got to the school and managed to find Patrick with no problem. He didn't give a lot of information but had the kid stick by him as they looked for Mathew. That was only to find that he hadn't shown up to school. Cassie and him lived together off campus in a small apartment. That was his next stop. He was muttering curses as he got to the place and found that it had been trashed, clearly a struggle had happened but there was no sign of the rest of Cassie's body or of Mathew.

The detective heads back over to the apartment with Patrick and knocks on the door.

Hexel had called Markus over while the detective was gone. The warlock had jumped at the chance to help out. He had shown up with boxes of books. Together the pair were reading over the various passages that mentioned how to trap a demon. That was the only thing that Hexel needed. A way to chain the demon in place long enough for him to pull out its soul and devour it.

The demon was still wondering around in his natural form with little regard with who it made uncomfortable. His long tail was what reached out and opened the door while he was still busy reading the passage in one of the many books from Markus, "Detective," His gazed danced to the boy next to him, "Take a seat some where I'll get to you when I have a moment," He informed the detective and Patrick.

Markus threw a book at the demon who caught it with his page turning hand, "Mind not scaring the mundane?" He huffed glaring at him with those sharp green eyes.

"I'll scare them as I see fit. I'm not feeding of them after all. So sadly it's all going to waste," He moved to check on Mary.

Paul nodded and moved Patrick to the couch where they could sit out of the way. Paul could tell by how Hexel was moving around he place and focused that staying out of his way was the best thing to do at the moment. Patrick was staring at the one named Hexel as if he was trying to figure out if he was in a costume or not.

As if understanding his question, Paul sighs and starts to fill the boy in on what he knew. That didn't seem to help Patrick so much but he didn't run screaming for the door which was the smartest thing he did so far.

Mary was still on the bed, the blanket pulled tightly around her as Smokey remained comfortingly in her lap. Smokey looked to Hexel as he entered the room and meowed softly to him. Mary hadn't moved or made a sound in a while. Her mind was replaying her own torture, she knew full well what that demon had done to her friend, all to get at her. All to draw her from her safe place to get what he wanted.

Hexel hardly listened to what the men chatted about though they had the warlock who was more than able to explain the nuances of the beings other than human and did so. He moved to sit across from them intoducing himself carefully as he held his hand out to them, "Markus. I'm the local warlock. Well as of lately," He tried to peek in the bedroom by leaning slight to the side. Sensing this Hexel slammed the door shut with his magic, "Bastard's got the entire house rigged with magic."

The demon patted Smokey on the head before focusing on Mary, "You can't help anyone by living in that dark memory Mary," He cupped her chin and lift her face so she would stare into his gaze, "It will hurt but you have to push past it. Own it. Don't let it own you. This is the first step in breaking the hold he has on you now."

His lips were gentle but the fire of his magic would trace her lips beforee trailing down her throat and down the top of her left shoulder, "Give me your fear, your rage all of it. Let me have it so I can destroy that which seeks to harm all you love."

The magic that rolled off his form was nearly visible at this point. The very hint of red could be seen dancing over his tanned skin. Once this was done and over with he would need to tell her so much about his kind.

Mary stared back into his eyes. His voice broke through the memory, stopping it before it could replay in her mind again. This is words filled her. Own it? She would do that.

She let the memory start again but this time she was fighting back, not numb as she had become but fighting. She let all of her fear and rage ,all the emotions go to Hexel, letting it all out as his magic moved. She could feel every part of it in the room.

This was just the beginning of feeding her emotions to him. The flavor sat heavy on his tongue unlike anything he had ever tasted before. Each being had a different flavor. Some where similar others so unique it surprised those that found the delicious taste. He knew why the other demon had lingured so long not really trying to kill this banquet. It was heady and sweet while being so satisfying that left him so full he wasn't sure he could take it all, "Mary~" He whispered her name so softly it was a wonder if she heard him as he leaned in and kissed her lips, "That's it. You are the one who can contol what you decide to give to any."

After a few moments he pulled her from the bed room and into the living room. He didn't trust himself to restrain himself with how delicious she was from devouring her very soul should she un wittingly give it to him. Many humans did this and found themselves stuck in Limbo after death.

Markus glared at him sharply, "Really? You had to feed from her... No wonder you feel so damn powerful," The warlock was rather jealous of the ease in which the demon was able to gain magic. His partner he would normally have asked for the energy to preform spells was dead. The wounds still to fresh for him to think of linking and making another familiar, "You don't have to ask your neighbors for help too much do you?"

Hexel shook his head, "Most of my kind don't have to as we make magic unlike your kind who have to borrow it from whatever sorce that happens to be near. Perhaps you should get to asking the neighbors for help making that trap already."

The warlock huffed and glared at the demon, "That will take a little time but I suppose you're right," Standing up he walked over to one of the cases and opened it up. Instantly the scent of herbs filled the room. Pulling out a few boxes that couldn't have possibly fit the small case which it was pulled from. Slowly he set up a space. All sorts of beautiful tiny flowers along with herbs vials of crystals and other precious gems and water a bowl which he had poured form a flask, "~Come to thy. Gifts thy bring. A request thy has in return, neighbors far and near lend me your strength.~"

Slowly invisable shapes that looked similar to deformed soap bubbles appeared before becoming more clearly visible. There were many of the tiny veriaty of fea. A pair with bird like feet and wings sat on the warlock's shoulder. Their large black eyes staring at him for a moment before glance at the others around the room. They were known as Airaels. A bird sort of fae with the power of the wind at their finger tips. "~A warlock!~" One chirped happily it had wings of deep rich red as was the hair on its head which seemed constancly wind swept behind it.

"~Aye!~" Said the blue one. It's hair was short, "~ So many mundane! How dare you call us here!~"

The warlock set about explaining softly to them what was needed and why.

"~A demon? Oh I suppose we could help they tend to destory our homes any ways.~"

That power that was coming from him, she had never felt it so strongly before but now. She felt like she was wrapped in it, protected by it. Protected by him. As his lips touched hers, she returned the kiss, savoring the taste of his lips upon hers. Had he spoken her name before the kiss? She wasn't sure she had heard him or simply felt him call her. Either way she was drawn out of that nightmare and into a new state.

As he lead her from the bedroom, she wanted to stay by him and so she did. She could see the concern in Paul and Patrick's eyes and then heard Markus. She looked to the warlock curiously but she didn't say anything as she watched him get up and begin to work from his case. She was amazed about how much he could grab from the case and thought faintly she needed to ask him about doing that to her backpack when she returned to school.

She looks to Paul and Patrick again. They were so concerned but she shakes her head softly at them. "I am alright. He doesn't hurt me when he feeds from me. It's okay. I wanted to do it. It's only way I can really be of help." She smiles to them. It seemed to reassure them a little but Paul was still watching her carefully.

Patrick's eyes got wide as the creatures began to appear, everything was so new to him, he wasn't sure what to make of them. Yet still he stayed and didn't argue.

Mary smiles a bit at the Airaels. They looked cute but she understood that calling them that might not be a good idea and remained quiet.

The warlock looked a little disappointed that there weren't more of what he commonly called neighbors, "Airaels," he addressed the pair, "Do you know any water fae?" He really need to use water magic for the trap spell to work to its fullest against their enemy.

The pair stared at each other as if speaking through their eyes alone before looking at the male, "~We know of one but she isn't likely to leave her stream as doing so would mean that the polution from the mortals city will poison the waters. She might though as she has found the body of a headless woman under one of the plum trees she enjoys. We must warn you though she doesn't like men much.~"

Markus nodded then waves his hand to the assortment of items, "I understand you can have something for the information you have given me," He told them they quickly flitted to the holly branch and vanished with it, "I suppose I have my work cut out for me. Sadly I think Mary would be better off asking a man hater for help than a man."

Hexel shook his head as he let his tail wrap around said woman's waist, "You can talk to her on your own. After all man could simply mean all humans."

Sighing hard the warlock glared at the demon, "You suck."

A form appeared near the doorway of the bed room carried in her arms was a body wrapped in white cloth, "Good day, Hexel son of Sitri," The voice belonged to a lovely looking woman who looked around 16 years of age or so. Her eyes were and enchanting purple her long white hair was pulled back into a simple braid. Her dress looked to be made from water.

Hexel stiffened slightly. No one knew who his father was but his mother and himself. Glaring at the female he noticed a moment later who she was, "Ashiki."

"Oh wonderful you remember me!" her purple eyes lit up, "Now come take this woman's body from me and have your mortal invite me in. I can only force my way into a home so far."

He gave nod as he did as he was told, "Mary could you welcome Ashiki into your home. She is a demonic water sprite and a rather old friend of the family I'm afraid. He took the woman's body in his arms and moved to lay her down on the carpet. He left it covered as from the scent he could tell who it was.
