"Don't mind if I do!" Haohmaru took a seat at the fire, though he did keep his katana handy. You never know when you may need it, after all.
Remy, meanwhile, hung back. He didn't trust anything or anyone here, especially not some stranger in the thick of a deadly and practically uncharted forest.

"Where are my manners." The man bowed at the gathered group. "Ardyn Izunia. Lowly vagabond out on an evening stroll. Time just caught up on me so I figured, why not take my chances and relax next to a fire as I wait for dawn?" His smiled seemed sincere but there was something off about the man.
"A surprising place to take a walk," Heihachi remarked looking at the suspicious man up and down.
"A man like this has no rules to follow so I say," Shantotto replied as she sauntered towards the fire and sat down. "Let's get this show on the way."
"Quite right," Ardyn remarked. "I have no allegiance to anyone, just trying to do my best to lay low and out of trouble. You know how it is."

"That so?" Python asked, hand on his hip as his other scratched his chin. Something about this Ardyn guy didn't sit right with him, but he'd just have to keep an eye on him.
Kris went and sat by the fire, crossing their arms with a tilt of their head. They also felt that something wasn't quite right with this Ardyn guy, but couldn't place it.

"Lay low in a dangerous forest? That certainly sounds smart." Remy glared at the stranger, not trusting him one bit. This entire thing felt too suspicious, and the fact that so many of their group were so trusting made him rapidly lose faith in this entire mission.

"Well I never said I was particularly clever I admit," Ardyn chuckled. Shantotto had snuggled up to the fire as well, though it was hard to say what her thoughts were on the man. She might just feel like he just wasn't a threat to her.
Heihachi meanwhile seemed very distrustful of the man and opted to stay a bit away from the fire. "Harhumph...perhaps some rest is needed to," He looked around at the group. "Some of us."
As he did that the group could hear eerie scream emitting from the forest. It sounded like...the voice of a child. It was hard to pinpoint where exactly it had come from, however. Ardyn seemed not to hear it before he continued talking. "Forgive me for asking, but why exactly are you out here so late at night?"

What the fuck? Python wasn't the only one who heard the scream right? The fact that this Ardyn guy didn't even flinch or noticed just made the Zofian soldier all the more uncomfortable.
"Lost track of time you could say." He added on to Lindhart's answer.

Chapter 2 - Cave Story
“I heard it,” Heihachi rumbled. “I chose to ignore it. For your good, you should do the same.”
“Oh yes, this forest houses many cheerful secrets,” Ardyn remarked with a smile. “No one’s stopping you to wander out into the darkness.”
“Anyone who decides to go,” Shantotto remarked off-hand. “You’ll have to be ready to go solo.” It seemed however that no one took up the offer and stayed around the fire until one by one, they fell asleep.
The group was woken by the sound of birds in the trees and the little smoke still coming from the almost dead fire. A quick investigation revealed that the man who had called himself Ardyn had disappeared. Or had he ever been there at all? Nonetheless, it was time for the group to move out. They had still had long to travel according to the map and- “What?” Heihachi looked in amazement as they exited the forest that they found themselves outside a cave. The same cave according to the map that would lead them into the fortress. The dragonhead like the opening was unmistakable.
He rolled out the map on the ground and inspected it. “We seem to have traveled miles in just one night.” Pointing from where they had started and where they now found themselves. A three-day trek reduced to a night. Something wasn’t right here. Had the forest spun them around or was there something sinister afoot. Heihachi growled in frustration before he rolled up the map and looked at the cave opening in front of the anger burning in his eyes. “Humph! If this place wants to toy with us I will show it what it means to mess with Heihachi Mishima!” With that, he started to make his way towards the opening. Let the infiltration begin.

Maybe there was some sort of illusionary spell placed on us, and we're entering the maw of a beast, but I'm not really up on my knowledge of illusionary spells, also with this whole multiverse thing, it makes things a lot more complicated,"
Linhardt tried to warn Heihachi from acting irrationally, but nevertheless he stayed close to Kris, Paz, and, by extension, Jitters. He seriously can't wait to get off of this island and take a well deserved nap.

Paz wrapped her jacket a little tighter around her chest. A chill ran down her spine. Perhaps it was an instinct. An omen. A sixth sense. She would be lying to herself if she claimed that she had any faith left in their mission. It all seemed so... hopeless. It was all out of her hands. A silent passenger, she single traced Heihachi's footsteps. Her eyes remained fixed upon the floor.

"Sir... Forgive me, please..." She whimpered to the older gentleman. "But all these dark caves... moving forests... It's like I've wandered into a fairy tale. But its... its more like Hansel and Gretel than Cinderella. I'm scared, sir. Tell me... tell me you've brought a flashlight..."

Python rolled his eyes slightly at Heihachi's exclamation and followed along with a sigh.
"Well, might as well see how this'll go." He huffed as he followed after the others into the cave.
"I'm done playing the quiet game for now, but you have to keep to your inside voice alright, Jitters? You know....no yelling. Can you do that?" Kris spoke up as they reached for Paz and gently tugged onto her coat, before quietly offering their hand for her in an attempt to calm her down.
"C'mon, we won't let anything happen. Just stick close." They tried for an encouraging tone towards the young woman.

“I see your preception's so poor that you didn't even realize we walked here.,” Heihachi scoffed at Linhardt. Though Heihachi wasn’t surprised if he had sleepwalked with them here.
At the mention of light, Shantotto let out a haughty laugh. “Ohohohoho! Why need a flashlight when instead we can use some magic?” Shantotto’s staff shone up to allow them to see once they entered the cave. “If I wasn’t around oh wouldn’t that be tragic?”
Entering the cave they spotted a little walkway to the side and the middle there was water going down to a waterfall and vanishing into the abyss. There seemed to also be enough natural light that they didn’t need the magic at least not yet.
“No guards, but that doesn’t mean this place is unprotected. Tread carefully. I will not hesitate to leave you behind if you end up becoming a burden.” The path further inside seemed to open up slightly allowing two people to walk side by side if they so desire.

Kris kept a hold on Paz whether she took their hand or not, while their other hand held their sword. They glanced down for a moment, trying to see if they could get even a glimpse of the bottom for a second before continuing along the path.
"I'm pretty sure you made that clear the other day too." Python piped up, bow in hand and arrow in place in case they did run into someone or something hostile.

Moving deeper into the cave the area continued to darken. Shantotto’s ball of light helped but she opted to light the torches along the way too illuminate the way. As they got further however they found that their journey came to an abrupt end. A chasm was in front of them. There seemed to have once been a bridge over but it was now gone.
Looking around they couldn’t spot anything that really sparked an interest. Though there seemed to be an alcove up next to where they entered. Maybe someone could climb up with some help?

"Hmm..." Haohmaru gripped his chin in thought, looking up at the alcove. "Say, think I could fit up there? I know I'm a bit bulky, so we may need someone smaller..." The samurai's eyes fell on a certain teal-haired member of their group, who immediately bristled.
