Both Velma and Sam found small objects falling to them. "Take some flashlights to see better!" Figment called.

The bookcase seemed to be firmly wedged in place, save for that opening behind it. Upon closer inspection, there seemed to be no end to it; instead of being situated on the floor, it seemed to rise up from below. Perhaps it needed to be lowered, somehow?

Meanwhile, the painting was easier to deal with. Metal hinges could be seen behind the frame. Unfortunately, there were two issues: first, it was too high for anyone to reach (save for Shockwave). Second, even if it could be reached, it wouldn't budge. It seemed it needed to be opened mechanically.

"Seems like I might have found a hidden stash,"
Sam spoke aloud to the group as she investigated it further. "I see some hinges but pretty sure we can't budge it, and I don't want to force it open. Who knows what that could trigger. Got to investigate further I think."

Velma paused and tried to catch the small object falling on her. She didn't want it to break. " It looks like we need to find a way to lower the bookcase." She went to grab a flashlight and see what else could be inspected.

@Yun Lee

Using the flashlights, not much could be seen, save for passageways behind the objects blocking them. "Clearly, this is where we need to go," Winston mused. "But how do we-"

"Woah, hey, look at this!" Leaf had moved over to the check-in desk.

"Ah, did you find something, Leaf?"

"Uhh...yeah, actually." She closed her eyes, and a mini vaccuum cleaner popped into her hand. "A ton of dust. Ick! How are we even supposed to look for clues when this place is so dirty?"

"I'm sure the janitor doesn't get paid much for cleaning here,"
Sam quipped as she made her way to the desk grabbing the flashlight to light up the area as she ducked and inspected the bottom half of the desk.

Velma paused and looked over at the desk and wondered why it was covered in dust. " Maybe there is something underneath all of the dust that we are missing," she said, inspecting to see if there was anything for them to press being uncovered from under the dust.

@Crow @Donder172 @Jeremi @Sark @Takumi @Yun Lee

There was nothing under the dust to see, though Sam would see a few cables running from the bottom of the desk to the ground. And the source of these cables seemed to be...the check-in book?

"What's this thing?" Leaf asked, flipping through the pages and sending dust flying everywhere. "A-choo! Ugh...I don't see any buttons or anything..."

@Crow @Donder172 @Jeremi @Lucky @Sark @Takumi

There didn't seem to be anything unusual about the book, though as Velma started looking through it, it would move a little bit to the right, and a heavy mechanical sound could be heard.

"It came from the bookcase!" Winston said.

Velma felt disappointed that there was nothing unusual, though it was strange that it was moving on its own. She looked over at the book case to see if anything was noticeably out of place or a passage had opened it. " It's always the book case," Velma replied with a simple shrug.

Nothing seemed to change, really. "Hmm...oh! I got it!" Leaf pushed the book to the right. The mechanical sound returned, and this time the bookcase moved away, revealing a hallway hidden right behind it. "We can go in now!"

"Excellent work, everyone!" Dreamfinder started for the hallway, creating for himself a flashlight. "Let's hurry and find this idol!"

"Good job, team."
Sam walked up to where the hallway revealed itself. Stopping Dreamfinder she formed a flashlight of her own. "I hope you don't mind if I take point. Just in case there's something in there that's bad news."

@Crow @Donder172 @Jeremi @Lucky @Sark @Takumi

"Are you sure you should take the lead alone, miss?" Dreamfinder asked. "I wouldn't want you to get hurt by anything up ahead!"

"I can join you!" Winston caught up to the two. "Best not to face this all alone. A treasure hunter like Hightower is sure to have booby trapped this place!"

The walkie talkie crackled alive as Whitmore chimed in. "I wouldn't worry about traps. Ol' Hightower was way too proud to even consider the idea anyone would break into his secret passageways. Though I don't think this place leads into his vault...maybe it's gotta do with that security camera up ahead?"

"Actually, I was meaning to talk to you about that, Mr. Whitmore. See-"

"AAAAAAAAUUUUUGGGGHHHH!!!!!"

"Good gracious!" Dreamfinder jumped back, looking towards the black depth of the tunnel. "What a dreadful scream! There shouldn't be anyone up ahead!"

"Well, whoever they are, it sounds like they need help!" Winston started out towards the scream. "Come on, everyone, we need to hurry!"

"Figment, stay in the lobby," Dreamfinder called. "Try and see if you can open those other passageways."

"Leave it to me, Dreamfinder!" The little creature flew back into the lobby, Leaf following. You were free to choose wherever you wanted to go, as well.

"Wouldn't feel right if anyone else was hurt on my watch, but if Winston wants to join he's free t-" The
scream cut her off before she could continue. "Well whoever it is they're clearly in trouble." Sam wasn't far behind Winston as she headed down the corridor towards the sound of the scream.

Velma Dinkley

" Figment, I think I'm going to help you figure out how this lobby stuff works. I don't know why- but somehow I think that scream is a trap of some sort. Seen it happen a lot,"
she said, looking to see what else she could to open more passageways in the lobby,

@Crow @Donder172 @Jeremi @Sark @Takumi @Yun Lee

Anyone headed towards the scream would find the narrow passageway led to a large room, filled with shelves stocked full of artifacts from what appeared to be indegenious groups from around the world. Tribal masks, vibrant tapestries, ancient tools, statues and sculptures...everything collected in here must have been worth millions. And at the opposite end of it was an elevator. No one who could have screamed was in sight.

Winston was already perusing the shelves. "I definitely want to look at that elevator," he said. "But I get the feeling that if Hightower had stored Shiriki Utundu anywhere, it'd be in this room."

@Jeremi

---

Figment gulped. "A trap? Oh boy...I hope Dreamfinder and everyone else will be okay..."

Leaf was already stationed at the chevk-in book, using a flashlight she imagined to look over the contraption. "I think this might be able to open the other areas? Nothing else really seemed to work..."

@Lucky

Velma Dinkley

" I think everyone is more than capable enough to handle themselves in this situation, honestly."

Velma adjusted her glasses and walked over to the check in book to check with Leaf on what else the contraption might be able to do. " That makes sense to me, there does seem to be more places we can open for sure."

@Yun Lee

"I'm more interested to know where that scream came from,"
Sam replied to Winston making her way towards the elevator seeing if she could find a button to call for it. "Be on your toes, don't know what this place is hiding."

@Yun Lee

There were call buttons on the elevator's right, but if Sam attempted to press any, a spark of green electricity jolted out at her. The door opened on its own, revealing a lavish interior...and more white feathers like the ones Leaf found in a heap on the floor.

@Jeremi

It seemed that the book couldn't move again from the right, except back to its original position. However, by bringing the book back to center, the bookshelf would close up its secret passageway.

Velma Dinkley

Velma paused and decided to see if she could bring it to the right and was sad to see that it didn't. She sighed and went back to the center.... pausing and noticing the passage. She tried to flip it left from the center. " If this doesn't work, I will reopen the passage....."

Sam instinctively pulled her hand back as the electricity shot out towards her. "It's open," She replied behind her. "But I can't say it fills me with confidence. Something weird is going on with this elevator."
