Exceptionally Common
Marie sat back to watch, and was a bit surprised when she saw Grisham fully nude; she'd have to talk to him about that when they had... y'know, vocal chords again. But his wolf form was stunning. And she resisted the urge to reach out and pat his head like a good boy as he came closer. Too close, apparently, because at that moment The Wolf decided he was gonna go apeshit.
He did not like that. He howled and clawed for control with redoubled efforts, and Marie felt control starting to slip. She scrambled back from Grisham, then laid flat on her back and held her paws over her ears--or at least where a human's ears would have been--as she fought to push him back into the background. She'd have to figure out how to co-exist with the monster in order to make shifting viable long-term.
After a bit, her body laxed, and she sat back up, shaking her head. She stood, putting her at a height above Grisham, and that seemed to settle The Wolf down for now, at least. Superiority, she thought. He wants superiority. To be the Alpha. She sighed. She didn't want to be an Alpha, and thought it was silly, but if it kept The Wolf sequestered for the moment, she'd act the part. Hopefully Grisham would understand when she told him later.
She trusted Grisham, but she did not trust herself, or more specifically, The Wolf. So while Marie would have preferred to have let Grisham lead her on a lark through the woods, she knew she'd have to take the lead to keep her demon at bay. Hopefully Grisham would warn her somehow if she went to the wrong place. So she sniffed at the ground--something she'd seen dogs and wolves do--and to her surprise there were a multitude of smells here. One of them raised her hackles a little bit and she focused on that, and tore off.
