First Generations: Main Thread

Jolyne was happy, strangely happy, despite the chaos, the madness happening with all the plant people... She found friends, and against all odds she didn't feel judged at all. She found a group of misfits, to fit in with and that is all she'd ever wanted.

She eagerly accepted Jaylin's arm, oh boy did she have another favorite? In reality, anyone who treated Jolyne well was a favorite, she had many favorites, rabbit girl, crystal girl and fire girl, she loved all three of them already, they'd be a good team.

The praise helped her regain some strength as they made their way to the elevator, and once inside, with her bubble faded, she tapped her foot to the elevator music, anything was better than silence wasn't it?

The slow moving elevator, prompted her to take a couple things fom her... Utility belt. Medicine? Amazing tools to help them in their fight against whoever was on the top floor? Candy bars, she had candy bars. They needed energy so why not.

"Y'all want some? Carrot cake, nuts and berries, peanut butter... Oooh, chocolate fudge." The pockets on her belt were very small, and yet, the bars she kept taking out were XL. Jolyne was used to The Void providing her with a near infinite storage, even if she looked like a clown doing a party trick at the time. She made her choice without needing to think much, chocolate fudge, obviously that didn't matter, she had multiple of each, logically.

She gave away the rest and took a bite of her own with a big smile, leaving bite marks that looked like that of a shark etched onto the candy. She was recovering her color already, the snack helping her focus on the task at hand, though her appetite did falter when the doors opened, and the reveal of the corpse came into view. Jolyne felt a pang of fear for a second, this wasn't like she thought it would be.

This wasn't one of those cheerful and fun situations from her old comics, the bad guy doing mild mischief and the heroes taking him to justice, this was like the modern ones, an actual danger and malevolent force that would do ANYTHING to have things its way.... Good thing she didn't only read those child friendly comic strips.

She finished her snack in a few bites, anger and confusion showing through features due to the wolves and the gun barrel pointed at her friend- Now they'd done it, ooh boy were they in trouble.

Somebody call an ambulance! But not for her or her friends.

With nearly the same amount of energy as she had before, she let go of Jaylin's arm, she may not be as strong as Bella or Izzy, but she was fast, and crafty- She would be a sidekick, no matter what, a shadow person and a weed man wouldn't stop her. She didn't have a plan, but she had an idea.

In a blink, she dissapeared from the elevator, she wasn't in range to appear behind their attacker, but she was close enough to be in front of him, and she was, a spark of light popping before him, and there was the Imp, with a big grin.

"Nice to meet'cha, I'm gonna mess ya' up, good? Good." She attempted to jump onto him, clinging onto his back with ease, with all her strength, which wasn't much, but enough to be an annoyance. Joly knew she'd be hard to catch, this man was around 187 cm tall, she was a mere 162. If it wasn't annoying enough, she made sure to give an attempt clamping down her razor sharp teeth onto his shoulder, thanks to his clothes he'd probably not be taking that much damage, but it didn't matter, she was hopefully holding firmly onto him.

Behind it all, this was all a distraction, a chance for the rest to save the civillians and stop weed guy.

Though her first action could seem futile, she had one more gift for her new friends, a blockage on the gun Venus had, a tiny, imperceptible forcefield inside the gun's barrel. Her shields were not strong whenever they were that small, but she knew something that her father taught her, obstructions and gun barrels were not good, maybe it'd not backfire and kill the man, but it could be enough to make the weapon unusable if he did shoot.

They were... taking the elevator.

Jaylin felt a little bit wrong about that, somehow. Were heroes really supposed to take the elevator? She thought maybe something more like dropping in from a helicopter and crashing through the windows...

None of them had a helicopter, though - at least, none of them had one with them. Jaylin didn't have a helicopter at all, but maybe someone else did? Also, that assumed that the windows were breakable. Weren't most of them plexiglass now? What if a hero tried to crash in through the window and just went bwonggg and bounced off and fell down - or went splat like a bird?

Oh-kay, maybe the elevator was fine.

At least it had music. Jaylin didn't exactly know the song, but she picked up enough that she was humming along by the second time the chorus came around, moving into a little dance routine that probably would have been a lot better were she not in a moving elevator. Bubble Girl was offering snacks around, but Jaylin shook her head to decline. Truthfully, she was pretty nervous about what they were going to find, and her stomach was all full of butterflies. She doubted she could get anything down right now.

The elevator opened up again, onto something more like a horror scene.

"Ohmygod." It was a whisper, and she'd covered her mouth with her hands, and the guy was pointing a gun at them and saying something about college students- "Ohmygod."

This probably didn't answer his question, but maybe it was what they were all feeling right now. Jaylin's hand moved, finger hovering over the close door button on the elevator for a moment, but...

...No, that wasn't right. She swallowed, carefully, and stepped out through the doors. The others were already fighting, they were a lot faster than she was. Jaylin was... not really very good at fighting, she was realizing. Since no one was fighting her, maybe that was okay. She scattered a few of her crystals, dropping them behind her like pink sparkly raindrops, not really sure what she was doing with them, but it would be better to know... whatever it was she needed to know.

And she walked forward. Not fast, not trying to attack anyone, just... walking. Not towards the people fighting, not even towards the weed guys or the hostages - instead, she went slowly towards the one person that no one needed to do anything about any more, because he was lying there on the floor, all shriveled up and awful looking. Jaylin knelt down by him, quietly, then reached a hand out and closed his eyes.

"I'm sorry."

Rabbit Foot

Somewhere amongst the elevator ride Izzy had taken the offer of snacks. Because how could she not? She didn't usually tire this fast, but she was still arguably the most winded of the group. Everyone had contributed getting here, but not everyone had to kick every opponent. If they weren't in such a dire spot it would have made her wonder some. Was there a crystal muscle that ached over time? Did the mind hurt bending fire eventually. Like when ones head hurt dwelling on math for to long. She hadn't had much time to enjoy the carrot cake themed candy provided however as that was when the door had opened.

The others moved before Izzy did. Bella showcased bravado wit and aggro thrown toward Venus in impressive measure. An accomplice of his t as kes action and summons...wolves? Or least they looked like wolves but they also seemed spectral or perhaps flat? Her mind struggled to fathom it. They were shadow given form, shaped yet weightless there yet ethereal. As strange as the wolves and cloaked figure were though they moved and Jolyne followed attempting to jump the opposition. Jaylen herself even moved heading towards the fallen reporter. Fear shock and befuddlment temporarily locked the rabbit in place.

Then came a gunshot.

No bullet ripped through her. Ears twitch from the sound. Before her body reacts more on its own as if the sound was one from track on the starting line. A pivot and a throw the candy bar smacks against the head of the closest weedman. It hit harder then a thrown snack should, the might of the bunny aiding in a impressive throw. Having said that it was a candy bar, not even a frozen one. It's use as a blunt force instrument was comical. Snapped in two it flopped to the floor. The weedman turns to face her only for a knee to smash into its face.

With bone splintering force the bunny knocks the weedman into the closest behind it. Whod been on its side a moment before the turn. The stumbling second weed pounces her. The rabbit collapsing on the ground one weed below her the other on top. Her foot quick to come down in a weed face crushing stomp. While her hands try and defend against clawing swipes. It had the other three weeds turning to face her. The rabbit successfully so far distracting. She couldn't direct hostages though and fight.

Venus

Initially Venus didn't look to respond to the women. Just drain a father as he took aim at a rabbit. The hammer clicks the gun barks and it explodes in his hand. Metal misshapen as the bullet fails leaving the barrel. He feels it in his hand fractures from the force. He would have been mangled if he was human. His hand perhaps irreversible in damage if not for his wood like new status. "Every weed is me, you've no surprises left."

His hand snaps back in a vicious throw. His might was human but he had a better weapon to throw then a certain hero. Viciously the jammed pistol looked to smash into the brow and nose of the pyromaniac. Metal and plastic looking to bash open the firestarter. The speed of the throw itself was decent for a pitcher though not particularly special. It was a good throw of a heavy item, it was still though performed by someone who worked more labs then baseball fields though. As the weapon raced at one hero a command came for a weedman to swipe at the imp trying to flank the shadow caster.

By Venus had been two weedmen after all. So he instructed one to lash out. The other being someone he had plans for. That one moved to take the needle from Venus. Draining the father of his blood and freeing Venus to attack on his own. The towering no face figure wasn't close to the bunny or Firestarter. Said Pyro also was engaged. Someone though went past them to be at the side of the dead. The black clad figure reached to his back unsheathing a rapier.

"Grief has a time and place child." His lanky arm could reach over the counter like no humans could. His spindly nature allowed him to thrust the sword down with poise unnatural for angle required. The weapon though did come down aiming for a shoulder hardly lethal. Venus himself unaware of it but something internally had struggled to aim with killing intent. It was easy with a gun, a trigger pull removed a level of intimacy of the act. However if the raindrops of crystals had continued Jaylin might sense Venus coming before his actions taken. In acts of violence and boisterous words of the others he hadn't kept track of something such as crystals. Distractions and uncertain preparations might have betrayed his violence before he even committed to the rapier thrust.

The world was dark.

Jaylin felt it, through scattered crystals - not so much a vision as a pulse. She felt it through the ones she had left scattered on the ground; she felt it through the ones that studded her body, and she felt it-

-through the ones growing within the body of the man on the ground.

She had closed his eyes, because the double-vision was nauseating, but deep within, the little crystals were propagating through his brain, his spine, his limbs, taking over the nervous system he had no need of any more. She felt, through him, through the scattered crystals, the motion of the killer as he drew closer. She felt, through the rippled displacement of the air, the thrust of a sword downward, her own first body twisting out of the way, the blade grazing a cut across her upper arm, blood trickling down over the embedded crystals there. She heard, at one remove, the scream of pain from her first body-

-as her second body snapped into motion, reaching out a hand to grab the wrist that held the sword, squeezing tight to make him drop it as she-that-was-he surged upward, her-his other hand drawing back and swinging to punch the rude jerk right in the face, with knuckles encrusted with the hot-pink tint of outcropping crystals.

"I said I was sorry," she said, finding her own voice, defiant, "Not that I was grieving."

Taking over someone's body as a zombie puppet just felt like the sort of thing she ought to apologize for, that was all. Jaylin clasped her - her own - had over the bit where she - herself - was bleeding, but drew back her second body's fist to see if she could get another punch in, and if nothing else, she-he was going to squeeze him hard enough that he dropped the sword or didn't have the bones left intact to use it. It wasn't like it mattered if she broke her-his hand, after all - he was already dead.

Jaylin chose to believe that if he weren't, he'd have wanted to help.

"It is not nice to stab people."

Bella’s head cocked to the side as the masked male moved towards them, well perhaps towards her specifically after her fantastic speech. She shifted uncomfortably from one foot to the other, having a feeling he also had powers, but she wasn’t exactly sure what side he was on. Thankfully or perhaps unthankfully he soon made it clear that he was working for plant-face and she felt a sickening pit in the middle of her stomach. Damn it! As if they needed more enemies! Swearing softly, Bella knew she couldn’t focus on the others and hoped that they would be able to take care of themselves. More importantly, she hoped that none of them ended up dead. Why the fuck did they think they could do adult work? Shouldn’t the cops or the army be dealing with this instead of them?

“A…” She had started to answer when something unexpected happened. Pain erupted before she could even process what was happening and yelping, Bella looked around in an attempt to figure out what was biting her! She didn’t see anything and while the others were doing what they were doing, the pyro erupted in fire, attempting to stop whatever it was this stranger was doing to her.

“Fuck you!” She shouted, potty-mouthed as usual when she got pissed off. Even as their newest friend jumped on the masked male, she was still erupting in fire. She wanted to be freed of whatever it was that had a hold of her, threatening to send her flames throughout the room and she probably would have if there weren’t hostages and the rest of the gang in the vicinity.

“Knock it off!” Bella growled as she finally noticed the shadow wolves biting onto her shadow legs! The fucker! “Tell your wolves to get back before I set your ass on fire” She added, her voice growing angrier the more she realized just what had bitten Rabbit Foot earlier when they were outside.

The unfortunate thing about fire is that it is a fierce and unforgiving light. When Bella combusted, flames erupted around her with blinding intensity, scattering shadows in every direction. The wolves vanished instantly, slipping from her like ink washed away, reappearing a few feet away in the darkness cast by her comrades.

But there was also something fortunate about fire, particularly when it burned as brightly as it did around Bella, just a few feet from Aiden. The searing glow illuminated brightly, casting strong shadows all around. Jolyne would never see the smirk concealed beneath Aiden’s mask as he stepped back into her shadow, disappearing into it as one might sink into the depths of dark water.

The wolves, disoriented for only a moment, quickly found their bearings. They regathered, eyes flashing with hunger and purpose, and turned their attention to the next in line: Izzy.
