Flames From the Past (1x1)

Monica smiles softly and nods as well. Gently petting Kiki again. "Sounds good to me too." She smiles again then looks to Dustin. "Should we head back?" She asks curiously.

He blinked slightly then glance at the grandfather clock along the back wall of the room, "I suppose so," he said as he stood, "Molly likely has paper work ready for you to sign for the house," He smiled gently, "You should be meeting your roommate during that process as well."

Kiki's tails flicked back and forth lazily as she purred contently at being petted.

She nods a bit, giving Kiki another pet, she moved to her feet as well. "I'm really hoping I get along with him. Don't usually have a roommate.." She smiles a bit. She was a little nervous about the idea of meeting the guy but at the same time she did trust Dustin and Molly. Made her wonder if she ever got into a roommate disagreement what would happen to the roommate. She glanced at Kiki and realized, there wasn't much for her to worry about right now. There was enough for her to be cautious and alert about but fear was fading from her mind.

Kiki purred more before bouncing up and transforming into a much smaller cat as she scurried towards the door. Standing Dustin held his hand out to Monica, "The let us be going," He smiled as he led the way out of the room and out to the car. Kiki was sitting next to the passenger door clearly excited about going somewhere new.

Monica was smiling as she watched Kiki. She was glad to see her so happy. It helped her to smile more as well. She accepts Dustin's hand and goes with him out to the car.

Once there she got in and let Kiki jump into her lap after she got her seat belt on. Gently she petted Kiki's back. Running her hand from her neck to her back gently.

Dustin got into the car, started it then headed back down the driveway. Getting back on the road he headed to wards the house they had settled on buying. Molly was already there as was Monica's roommate.

Monica was nervous but also excited about some of the new changes. Things could be good now, there was a chance for it at least.

As they arrived at the house, she opened the door to let Kiki out, figuring that she would want to wonder on her own and not be carried every where. Monica didn't want to insult the beautiful creature.

Inside the house, the man from her apartments was waiting. Neil had gotten some stuff moved over from his own place, just the basics for now. He would rather leave the decorating for Monica to do as Neil knew the girl could use the chance to open up a bit more, make this place comfortable for her. He could live any where, hell if Monica told him to stay in the bath tub or something he would.

With Molly's guidance and orders he had moved all of Monica's clothes and some other items but not everything yet.

He looks to the door as he hears the car doors open and shut.

Dustin meandered after the excited cat and Monica. He could feel the changes of the air around the apartment as the others that lived in the yard and in the least inhabited parts of the house began stirring at the thought of the house having a family once again within its walls. Many were excited while a few felt concern. As he stepped through the door way he noticed Neil staring at the door he filled completely nearly, "Good day," The angel greeted, "You must be Neil."

He walked over with great purpose and held his hand out to the darker complected male, "I'm Dustin Champion. I'm sure you are aware I am an associate of Molly's as well as the supirior of Monica."

It was all he needed to say he was sure. It was clear he was stating his claim of the female. Her well being was his to handle. Kiki on the other hand cared little. She was a better judge of character than the angel as she bounced slightly as she circled the pair before running off to explore another room of the house.

Monica was surprised to see that the person that would be her roommate was Neil. She didn't mind that it was him because he wasn't a stranger completely to her and he had in fact helped her and been kind to her in the past.

Neil nodded his head and shook Dustin's hand as it was offered. "Yes sir. Molly did tell me." He smiled a bit. Yes the female had informed him of Dustin but he didn't need the two of them telling him a thing. He just had to see how Dustin watched Monica. It was in his eyes.

Monica smiles to Neil, who nodded in turn to her. "Molly informed me that you were to have the larger room. Some stuff has been brought over but figured I would leave the decorating to you. I'm terrible at it." He said, he kept his expressions friendly, he didn't want to give Dustin any idea that he was interested in Monica, it was that she reminded him a lot of a younger sister and that was how he saw her.

Monica makes a face and shakes her head. "I'm not any better. You've seen the extent of my decor when you helped me move into my last place."

Neil nods a little. "I'm sure Molly will be willing to help. I'll just do the heavy lifting."

Dustin nodded as he stepped back to let the two new roommates chat. He didn't like at first the way the other male looked Monica over before he reminded himself that it was none of his business what the woman did outside of controlling her powers. Kiki made her way back into the main room before she pattered over and bumped into Monica's leg with her large head. She had returned to her original form at some point.

Monica smiles softly as Kiki bumped into her leg. Gently she reaches down and gives her some scratching behind her ears. "Hey girl, what do you think?" She smiles warmly.

Neil was blinking a bit as he looked at the now large cat. He could have sworn that cat had been much smaller just a few minutes ago but then again, Molly had told him to expect weird. That he had to keep an eye out for weird and report any he saw. He figured though that since Dustin was presence that the need to report was not necessary.

Monica smiles again and yawns a little. She was starting to feel tired. It had been a long day it seemed.

Neil nods to the door that lead into the bedroom. "That one there. Bed is set up so you won't sleep on the floor."

"Thank you...I really appreciate that." Monica says and then looks to Dustin. "What time do you want me to start in the morning?" she asks curiously.

Dustin shook his head, "Day after," Then he thought for a moment, "Perhaps the day after that. I'm sure the neighbors will want to welcome you to the house. Molly will likely be around later tonight the night owl she is. I also want you to get settled before you need to worry about other things." He rubbed his head, "Sleep well. I'll be around for a little I need to set up a few wards and things."

Kiki purred at the rubbing before flicking her two tails slightly as she stared up at the human male. Her large eyes trained on him in such a way that was clear she was assessing him. She didn't see him as a threat unless he harmed Monica in someway. At the mention of sleep she gave a yawn. Cats slept more than anything else. She was no difference.

The angel moved from the small group to head towards the back yard. He noticed a small bird house had been set on a stand near the back fence where it was shaded by a few large oaks that stretched their limbs out towards the pool. It would seem Molly had already invited a land god to live there. Making his way over to the small house he decided it was good to at least make himself known to the small fairy like being that sat on top of the clay tiled roof, "Greetings, child of Enoch," The beautiful creature greeted.

It was around six to seven inches tall and dressed in what could only be called very formal Shinto style priest kimonos of rich gold and blue with little stylized birds and flowers decorating them. A mask covered its face. It was that of an owl's face. It's voice was musical and delicate.

"Greetings, Father of the Night," Dustin returned, "It is my understanding that you are here to bless and protect this house. I would like to offer you my prayers to make you stronger and better suited to do so."

The god nodded, "I have heard your wish and it will be so."

Dustin bowed slightly before he stepped away. There was little to be said to gods. They weren't overly talkative but they could grow to be quite familial when it came to a house hold they were tasked with blessing. Lazily he made his way towards the house.

Monica nods softly to Dustin. She didn't like waiting but he had a point about getting settled in first. Gently she strokes Kiki again and smiles a bit. "Think a nap before Molly gets here?"She asks the large cat.

Niel smiles a bit and nods to the kitchen. "Don't have much yet but I do have some hot chocolate or tea I can make you."

She shakes her head a little. "Maybe when I wake up. Been a long day." She moves to the bedroom and closes the door so she could find her comfy clothes and put them on to get in bed. Once changed, she cracked the door open so if Kiki wanted to come and go she could.

Moving to the bed, she sat there a moment and looked around. Then laid down curling up beneath the covers.

Niel smiles a little then moves back to the kitchen. She reminded him so much of his sister. Would have been about her age too.

Kiki gave a purr in agreement before she followed Monica off to her room. Dustin came into the house sometime later, "Let's speak outside for now," He told Neil. The two men hadn't spoken and Dustin had a few things he needed to know about. Once outside the angel sat down in a lawn chair, "Firstly let's be very clear with one another. I will destroy you should any harm come to that woman while she is in your care. Secondly, Kiki is a fairy cat for all you need to know. She has bonded with Monica as I was hoping. This means that anything that means harm for her will be attacked by that cat. She also happens to be a fairly good house cat that keeps away more than just pesky rodents. Thirdly. I don't know what sort of contract you have with Molly nor do I need to know but you will be clear in letting her know she isn't to harm the humans of this house. That includes you. I hope she explained that the bird house in the back is more than a bird house and should be taken care of better than you would your own house. Land Gods can be finicky little shits but they are often useful enough to make up for that trait," He smiled, "Questions so far?"

Neil sat down in the opposite lawn chair so they faced one another. He had expected the talk and wasn't surprised by what was said. "I understand sir. I will look after as if she was my sister." He glances to the bird house. "Molly had explained it too me and I shall do my best to maintain the little home. As for her or anyone causing harm in this house ,I will not tolerate no matter who or what they are." He smiled a little.

Then he adds. "If it provides any comfort, I serviced in the army as a ranger. Long time ago. I will put all my training to work. I also wanted to check with you on the idea of me training Monica to defend herself?"

The angel tilted his head slightly, "Training her would be fine. It might also help her in controlling her powers. I will not tell you about those as it is viewed by those of us who you can simply call other as rude to talk freely about the abilities of another being. You can ask her directly about it if you feel you need to know. For now I would prefer if the training was kept simple and light. She may feel fine for the moment but her body is still adjusting to the ties that once bound her powers tightly being changed. Her bracelet is suppose to suppress most of the energy but there is still the chance it isn't strong enough to hold it all."

Dustin mused for a moment more, "Forgive me as it is simply an ability of mine but I feel you are missing something that you once held dear. Please whatever it was don't try to force Monica into that roll. It might end up horrible for everyone involved. Also be honest with her about what you see in her. Even if that honesty might lead to a rift. That sort of rift will heal and become stronger than steel than the wound that comes from dishonesty."

Neil nods at his words about training her. "Figured with the scarring that light work would be necessary. It's her habit of pushing herself too hard that concerns me the most." He smiles a little. "I'll start her with just light stuff. Things that even if she pushed herself on it, she won't harm herself in any form." He says.

He smiles faintly as Dustin hit the nail on the head about him missing something. "My sister. She was killed a day before I returned from over seas." He nods a bit. "I plan on sitting down and talk with her. Letting her set the rules of the place but also as you said, I need to be honest with her from the start and not wait until things develop into an issue. I've watched over her when she lived the apartments and will continue to do so here but will treat this as a job. If I treat it personal then I will make mistakes for the sake of making her happy. Keeping her safe and unharmed is more important. I can handle her being mad at me when its necessary for her protection."

Dustin nodded slightly in his understanding, "I'm sure your sister would be proud of you for what you do for others. She will be getting stronger. Her scars will heal. It might take a month but by then she should have all the nerves and feeling in her body working properly. I'm not asking you to only keep her safe. I would also demand that you take care of your needs as well. A man who can't think straight is useless to me and to Molly. I'm sure she made that very clear. Molly is an odd being... I'm never sure if the master of the vampires is on the same side as all of us others or simply keeping things healthy. She's been around for too long at times and you will see it in the way she acts towards every one. The woman isn't insane though and has the mind of a seasoned king. Don't mistake the the fact that she sees the world as a very elaborate chess board for a being with no feelings. She holds one thing dear and that is my sister. I'm sure you'll meet Emma if you haven't already," He glanced at his watch, "I need to get back to the office."

Neil nods and moves to his feet, offering his hand to Dustin. "I will make sure to have things tended to. As you said Molly has made things very clear."

Monica laid curled up in the bed beneath the sheets. She slept deeply. The nightmare started as it usually did but it was different this time. Instead of the demon being in place, it was her. Instead of the house being covered in flames, it was the energy but it was dark and heavy. A thick coldness to it as it destroyed the structure around around. She curled up a little tighter beneath the sheets.

Kiki yawned before glancing at the human next to her who seemed to be in some state of pain. Nudging the woman gently she gave a soft murphing noise meant to get the female's attention. Noticing it wasn't working did the next thing she knew about. With a much louder meowing roar she pushed the woman hard enough to push her across the bed an inch or two. Her tails flicked back and forth with annoyed expression on her kitty cat face.

Dustin paused in the door way to the house as he heard the noise from Kiki. In a flash of movement he was over to the bedroom and staring at the situation before him, "What the hell, Kiki?"
