I've been rpging for around 2 years.
I'm working on writing a story for my own DnD campaign I run in my spare time.
I also participate in another campaign 2-3 nights a week.
I was referred here by a friend to participate in his campaign.

Hello Gwazi Magnum! Most of my experience is with tabletop RPGs, I have no experience with forum RPGs. Hopefully this will be a good first experience with them!
1. I'd say my favorite genre of game is strategy, which is what originally brought me to RPGs when watching some friends play D&D a few years ago. For movies I'd say nature documentaries or psychological thrillers.
2. Poptarts! though I have to admit I gave up after 10 minutes and did a google search,
3. I usually go with Sorcerer or Ranger, I like to stand back and help the group through cover fire.

Well forum RP's in a nutshell is narrative focused. Most of the RP dynamic is the same, you got the DM and you got the players. But there aren't much (if any) hardcoded mechanics to represent skills, classes, abilities etc. Characters may have powers still, but rather than being stated the writers work together to implement them in ways that serve to enhance the story.

1. You could always try Nation RPs as a start then. Those tend to be strategy focused.

3. I can relate. Being a ranged damage dealer makes you feel like a God at times.

Sorry for the delayed response, it was testing week at my university. I am not familiar with Nation RP, is that a thread on here? Also I didn't hear too much about the new season other than it is coming out some time real soon.

I get it, used to be in college myself, testing week is rough.

There's no section of the site specifically for Nation RP's, but it's a style of RP where people control nation and people of importance inside it, rather than just one or two characters.
It's not a type of RP I've been in before, but it tends to have a small but dedicated player base.

I'll just let you watch the season then. If I say anymore that'd be...
