How Green Becomes Wood

"Well when you think of one, let me know," Claire teased, taking Sloan's arm.

"We should probably get to class, bell's about to ring," Sloan said, "See you later."

He shrugged, "I guess maybe. I'm not too concerned."

"Bye! Thanks again for the mug!" Alec told Claire. "See you later!" He stood and headed back toward Xander and Milo.

"Yeah, but imagine of we got the daredevil friend, or maybe the calming one. That'd really round things out. I'm very concerned about the balance of our friend group," Xander said, straight faced.

"Don't see why not," Xander shrugged. "Group. Duo. Whatever." He stood and started cleaning up his area quickly.

"What's a group, duo, thing?" Alec asked, joining them. He picked up his bag having already cleaned up after himself. "The bell is going to ring soon."

"Oh, cool," Alec said, satisfied with that answer. He was currently wearing the vest Milo had given him over a turtleneck and a bit of eyeshadow to match along with his crazy nails. He looked a bit like a professor who'd wandered through a kid's craft fair.

"I love it," Alec said sincerely. "It's fabulous, and it's actually warm on my torso, leaving my arms nice and free!"

Xander glanced at him, amused. "YOu do look fabulous," he agreed. "The gloves are awesomely warm."

"It's good to be warm here," Milo replied, "I had that time in Chicago, it was cold there, and I was born in Ohio; I lived there until my dad died. But I spent so much time on the west coast and in the south west, I'm not used to it."

"Chicago and Ohio sound so cold!" Alec moaned. "But cool, especially Chicago. Oh, look, there's Becky!" He waved to her.

Becky waved excitedly like she hadn't just seen all three of them the day before and elbowed her way through the crowded hallway to reach them. "Hi! I missed you in the cafeteria, sorry. Hey, look what I got!" She held up a bag of assorted fun-sized candy. "I wanted to share so I don't become dreadfully unhealthy. Here, take one or two! No more than two."

"It's like Halloween," Alec chuckled. He reached in blind and selected the first two to come to hand.

"What, me, too?" Xander asked when Becky shook the bag at him.

"I don't hate you," Becky said with a smirk.

Xander delicately took two mini licorices. "These two together are like one bite. Thanks."

"Welcome!" Becky held out the bag to Milo and shook it lightly.

Milo stared wide-eyed at Becky, not knowing what to do with her exuberance, and awkwardly took a few pieces of candy from the bag without looking what they were and mumbled, "Thank you."

"You're welcome," Becky said, taking note of what he took. "I should get to class. Bye!" She hurried off into the crowd.

"Mmm, random candy to fule us until the end of the day," Alec said happily. "That's brilliant!"
