How Green Becomes Wood

"He'd be in real trouble if he did that," Daizi grinned. "And it wouldn't solve the issue of him finding everything too sweet." Then the server managed to make it to them, so they finally actually were able to order.

Sally ordered cheesecake with a chocolate drizzle, and Jack got a coffee-flavored pastry unique to the restaurant. After Dark and Daizi ordered theirs, they chatted about various coffee flavors and types around the world while they waited.

Dark also ordered the coffee-flavoured pastry and Daizi ordered a slice of pie which came with a scoop of ice cream. Frankly, Dark wasn't certain the cake was too sweet, but he felt almost obligated to complain that it was, otherwise their whole debate would've been for nothing.

After eating their desserts and talking about this and that, Jack and Sally called it an evening. Sally hugged Daizi goodbye and pretended to go in for a hug with Dark just to mess with him a little before offering him a hand. She did thank him sincerely for coming out. Jack shook hands with them both, thanked them for a good time, and then they headed out.

Back home, Xander had the baby monitor in hand, listening for any sounds of Ivy stirring as he finished up a bit of homework he had left over.

Alec came to greet Dark and Daizi when he heard the car pull up. He had Kiki in the sling, and she looked nearly asleep, practically smiling in her kitty way with just her head and one paw sticking out comfortably. She looked up to see who it was and blinked sleepily at the two humans. "Welcome home! How did it go?"

Daizi hugged Sally tightly and after Dark shook their hands, they headed home, half a coffee pastry in tow.

Once they came inside, Dark took off his shoes and touched the salt before kneeling down and reached out to his dog, pulling him into a very loving hug. After so much socializing, it was nice to greet an animal, "The perfume shop was interesting."

"It went well," Daizi smiled, kicking off her shoes and stretching, "I love the perfume your father made me. He named it Belladonna."

"Oooo, can I smell it?" Alec asked. "Ba, did Mama make you a perfume? I didn't know you were making each other perfumes. I thought you were making your own." He stepped back, giving them plenty of room to enter.

Xander looked up from the coffee table. "Mini's sound asleep. She was pretty good. Confused, but good."

"Of course," Daizi said, going into her purse and taking out the two bottles and handing them over, "I can't read the labels, so I don't know which one is which."

"It was Daizi's idea to make them for each other. Jack and Sally made them for each other too."

"Ooo, these smell nice," Alec said, giving one and then the other a careful sniff. He took them to Xander to let him sniff.

"Not the worst," Xander agreed. He looked at his father. "Absolute torture? And topped off with a sugary dessert?"

"I think what's interesting is how well the two scents go together," Daizi commented, "We made them completely seperately."

"I cannot say it was absolute torture, I do not dislike either Jack or Sally. And they do not force me to speak." Dark answered, still on the ground with Enkidu.

"Good," Xander said with a satisfied nod. He gathered up his school stuff and stuffed it in his bag to take downstairs. "I'm glad it wasn't awful."

"They do smell amazing," Alec agreed, handing the perfumes back to Daizi. "I'm not surprised they smell good together.

"I think Jack probably disliked the perfume making more than I did," Dark admitted, standing up and bringing the leftover dessert to the refrigerator.

"I suppose we do live in cohesion," Daizi commented, putting the perfumes back into her purse, "At some point I'll probably steal your father's, at least on some occasions. But we need to add braille labels to them."

"Yeah? Why's that?" Xander asked curiosly. He set his bag by the basement stairs and followed Dark into the kitchen. He eyed the leftover container with interest but didn't ask about it.

"Welcome," Xander told him.

Alec and Xander bid their parents goodnight and then retreated to their rooms to sleep for the night, leaving their parents up to their own devices. Whatever they did, the twins did not want to know about it.
