How Green Becomes Wood

"Alright! Let's go get some Ṭaʻām!" Alec said cheerfully. He bounced his way toward the kitchen singing, "Ṭaʻām, Ṭaʻām!"

Xander rolled his eyes and scooped up most of the toys before heading into the kitchen after them. Someone had to know how to actually put a decent meal together.

The twins worked together and put Ivy in her seat right before putting a proper, nutritious dinner before her. They sat down on either side of her and helped her out with eating and not just tossing her food. Kiki came in for her dinner and watched Ivy, intrigued.

Thankfully, when Ivy was given her dinner, she didn't fight them on it or demand something different. Enkidu stayed right by her feet, hoping for any bit of dropped food, which he did get a little bit of. Seeing the little cat distracted Ivy from her food a little bit, but she was telling the truth when she said she was hungry, so mostly she just babbled happily and ate her meal.

"Nice job, Mini," Xander told her when they were all done. "You scarfed your dinner. Nom nom."

Alec laughed and started cleaning her up, wiping her face and hands. "Do you feel better now?"

Alec grinned and finished cleaning her up before taking her out and putting her down. "Let's go play!"

Kiki dashed around the table leg and hid behind it, staring out at Ivy. The small human was down!

Ivy didn't realize she was being stalked, she was too busy making her way towards the living room, because that's where her toys were. It didn't occur to her there was anything else she might want to keep an eye on!

Alec and Xander didn't notice Kiki, busy cleaning up the kitchen and keeping an eye on Ivy.

Kiki stayed behind the table leg for a moment, tail lashing. Then she dashed out and sprang at Ivy.

When the little black cat pounced on her, Ivy shrieked in surprise and fell over, but not hard enough to hurt her. When she saw it was just the kitten, she laughed and reached out to touch Kiki, wanting to pet the pretty kitty cat.

Alec hovered anxiously, waiting in case something happened. Kiki wouldn't deliberately hurt Ivy, but her baby claws and teeth were still sharp. Even an accidental nip or claw would hurt.

Kiki pulled back, staring at Ivy with her tail thrashing. Then she ran forward and jumped onto Ivy with all four paws.

After being pounced, Ivy squealed in delight, reaching up and touching Kiki. Once the kitten got off her, Ivy got up, took two excited steps towards the kitten, and flopped back down onto her back once more.

Kiki bounced away, completely bewildered. She watched the human for a moment. Then, sensing a chance for play, she dashed forward and leaped onto Ivy again, play biting at her hands. There was zero force in her "bites" as she understood Ivy was a baby like herself, but it was still teeth touching skin.

Ivy jumped in surprise at the little bites on her fingers, even though it didn't hurt. She stared at Kiki for awhile, and the gears in her mind were visibly turning as she attempted to figure out what was the proper thing to do in this instance.

Then she proceeded to lean forward, grabbed Kiki's tail with clear intent to nibble her right back.

Kiki jumped in shock and turned around to see what was happening to her tail.

"Okay! I think that's enough of that!" Alec said hurriedly, jumping in to break them up. "Ivy, let's play with Kiki another way, okay? Let's go get her string toy! She loves her string toy!"

Kiki was getting a bit distrassed that she couldn't get her tail free, but she wasn't panicking yet.

"Ivy, let go of Kiki's tail. Kiki does not like you holding her tail," Alec said gently but firmly, trying to hold Kiki and Ivy steady at the same time.

Xander came over to help and picked up the cat so she wouldn't keep trying to wiggle around. "Mini, drop the tail," he said sternly. "That's not how we play."
