How Green Becomes Wood

"He couldn't possibly take his shirt off in front of her with me there," Daizi said, waving her hand before ultimately resting it on Dark's shoulder, "I'd learn all about his sordid affair, and that would never do."

"Very true," Alec giggled. "We mustn't let that out, must we? Oh, man, what would they say at school should it ever come out there?"

"Why would it?" Xander snorted.

Alec shook his head. "It shouldn't, but it's amusing to me to think about."

"I am hoping soon I will be forgotten entirely there," Dark replied, then, furrowing his brows said, "Knowing that school, though, I fear the horrible things they would say if such a rumor came out."

"Do not worry, I have no fear either of you would do such a thing," Dark replied, "Honestly, my only real worries regarding that whole mess is if it causes an issue for either of you."

Xander snorted at that. "Not likely. Not even a bit likely."

"Don't worry. I doubt anyone at school even realizes we have an aunt for you to have an affair with. At least, not outside our immediate circle," Alec said cheerfully.

"That, I do believe," Dark agreed, although he knew there was plenty of rumors about him the twins had found themselves embroiled in.
"It was a lovely visit," Daizi sighed, turning behind her to touch Ivy's knee, "She'll be glad to be home, though."

"I think she's already recognizes her, but now they'll get to form whatever bond they'll grow up to have," Daizi said.

"I think Ivy is really trying to figure out how to get Ciara to play," Dark added.

"I think she's capable of learning," Daizi said, feeling almost certain of it.

"If I have learned to play, I believe anybody can." Dark told Xander, in a rare moment feeling more certain of positive change than his wife.

"A few months ago, I never would've guessed she'd have moved closer, so I think there are more possibilities than any of us once would've thought," Daizi said, considering it. Then, after a few moments, she laughed softly and said, "What do you think she thought the first time she came to our home?"

"Well, if we thought her neighborhood was hell and her house a magazine in a not-good way, I think she probably felt like she was drowning in color, texture, and patterns," Xander said dryly.

"I want to protest, but I think he may be right," Alec admitted.

"Texture and patterns I will accept, but when you phrase it that way it sounds as though my home is technicolour," Dark said dryly.

"At least it was not enough to scare her off," Daizi chuckled.

"Good, because those sandwiches didn't do much to fill the hole," Xander said, grabbing the diaper bag as he climbed out.

Alec followed after. "Want help? Or Ivy distraction?"
