How Green Becomes Wood

"I was not doing anything," Dark pointed out with a raised finger. "I was minding my own buisness."

"And if that's what massive PDA looks like to you..." Daizi began, but decided it was better to trail off. They didn't even kiss!

"What, and choose sides between my wife and son?" Dark asked, pressing his fingertips to his chest as though wounded, opening the back door of the car for Daizi before going around and getting in on his side.

Xander considered, but this had been a good day even if different from what he expected. It was probably best to stop while they were ahead. "Home it is!"

Were they different people with different childhood rhymes, one of them may have referenced the pigs who went to the market, but neither of them were familiar with it, "Then take us home," Daizi grinned, running her hands through her hair, "and you get to brag all to your brother about it."

Xander drove them home, pleased and proud. He was driving the family! He did not mind riding, not one bit, but it was extra special to be driving his father's car. He got them home safely, parked, and opened the doors for Dark and Daizi. (He had to dash to get there before Dark opened the doors, but he made it!)

Alec was sitting in the living room with his feet propped up and a face mask on. He'd pulled his hair back with a headband, and it made his hair stick up in odd directions at the top where it was shorter. He lowered his book and glanced over as the family entered. "Hi! How'd it go?"

Xander's mad dash for the doors first confused Dark, but quickly he understood what was happening, so he sat back and let Xander have this, thanking him when he got out.

Daizi stretched, glad to be home, thanked Xander, and walked inside with them, "Hi, baby! It was a lot of fun! Xander and I danced together!"

"No way, really? That sounds like a lot of fun!"Alec grinned. A timer went off, and he silenced it before putting his bookmark in his place and standing up. "I need to go wash my face, and then I want to hear all about it!" He hurried off eagerly.

"He currently looks like he's got peach-colored mud smeared all over his face," Xander told Daizi as he took off his shoes and waited his turn to touch the salt.

"Does he really?" Daizi chuckled, slipping off her shoes and going to flop onto the couch.

Since Cooger had been called over to help babysit, he came downstairs after changing Ivy, and seeing his friends there, frowned at the baby in his arms and said, "You couldn't have waited?"

Daizi held out her hands and Cooger handed Ivy over, "Hi Hummingbird!" She cooed, nuzzling Ivy's cheek, "Did you have a good day with Alec and your Uncle Cooger?"

"Was she good for you?" Dark asked, sitting down and stretching out his legs.

"Ah, she was fine," Cooger nodded, then looked to Xander, "Did you have fun?"

"Yep," Xander said promptly. "It was pretty cool. Weird music. But good, I guess. Fun play thing."

"Did you have to get up on the stage?" Alec asked, coming down with a freshly scrubbed face and brushed hair.

"Nope, but I did get asked," Xander admitted.

"They played our wedding song!" Daizi said happily, barely remembering anything else.

"It was very ecclectic," Dark answered, trying to think about it, "They played many songs I know and liked, but their genre was very wide."

"Is this a good thing or a bad thing?" Alec asked uncertainly.

"I'd say overall a bad thing because it seemed like they were going for a vibe more than anything else, but at the time it was not bad-bad," Xander stated with a shrug.
