How Green Becomes Wood

"We have time to do both," Dark promised, stopping as they headed to the penguins to look into the tank of seahorses for a moment, admiring how peaceful they looked. Then as they walked on, they came upon an interesting rockwall feature and a tank. Looking down into it for a few moments, Dark asked, "Do you see anything in there?"

Dark bent down slightly, squinting into the water. "That does not make much sense. Surely there is a sign somewhere? Why would so much water be here?"

Then there came a rumbling and Dark glanced up just in time to see gallons of water dropping down--seemingly at them--at high speeds and at the same time his brain said oh, there is glass there, that is clever his body leapt back, firmly grabbing whatever twin was nearer to the arm he wasn't supporting Ivy with him to 'get them out of the way.'

Xender yelped in shock as he was suddenly yanked back and "out of the way" of the water. There wasn't time for him to do much more than stumble in the direction his arm was going, propelled both by the "need" to get away from the falling water and the desire to keep his arm attached to his body.

Alec leaped back rather dramatically and very nearly plowed into a stranger, who was also trying to duck and cover. When the water did not actually hit either of them, the stranger and Alec shared sheepish chuckles and tried to straighten as if nothing had happened.

Once his body caught up with his thoughts, Dark released Xander, stared up at the waterfall, and couldn't help but chuckling softly at his own expense while cradling Ivy who had been spooked by the commotion, "It is just a fake waterfall," He said, walking back under it and looking up at the water as it came down, "That is all."

"It's nice to know that if it was a real one, you'd save us from sheer force of will," Xander commented, rubbing his arm as he followed Dark. It was a little sore, but that would fade quickly, he knew. He looked up at the glittering light above him. "Huh. That's actually kind of pretty," he admitted.

"Nope!" Alec said, popping up at Dark's elbow on Ivy's side. "I drowned very dramatically, and it was a horrible tragedy," he said cheerfully. 'But I looked beautiful until the last."

Xander rolled his eyes. "Dork."

"I can do that, but I'm not wearing the sparkly clothes," Xander said, perfectly imitating Alec's voice.

Alec giggled. "She won't miss a thing! But I want my epic story of how my father chose my brother over me to save. Ooo! Maybe I can be a ghost!"

Alec tried to pretend to pout, but his smile kept breaking through. "I suppose I can eventually forgive you and move on to whatever lies after being a ghost." He looked up. "When will it happen again? It was so cool!"

Alec and Xander both jumped despite their best efforts not to. Alec laughed while Xander grumbled, and both watched the water woosh over them dramatically.

"Wow, it's so beautiful from this side!" Alec grinned, reaching up as if he could touch the underside of the waterfall. He couldn't, not even close, but it was fun to pretend.

That time, Dark didn't jump, although it still made Ivy start to cry, "It is okay, Tifla, it is just water. Ivy-Qadira loves water, yes she does. It is fun, look!" He pointed, kissed her head, and said, "It goes woosh, yes? It goes woosh!" Each time he said woosh, he tipped her upside down, until eventually she was giggling again, and proud of both himself and her, Dark said, "See? It is not scary, it goes woosh!"

Xander refused to look at Dark, feeling embarrassed by his actions with Ivy but also not wanting to be embarrassed. He just waited for the other to stop, which he knew would eventually happen.

Alec watched Dark out of the corner of his eye and waited for Ivy to be happy again before saying, "Looks like all is good now! And the water is very pretty."
