"Ivy-Qadira," Dark said gently, "Come here, my darling." It took a little bit but eventually she happily toddled back to her family, holding something shiny proudly in her hand, "What do you have, habibti?"
Lifting Ivy up onto the couch with him, Dark gently unfurled her fingers so he could take it, "Thank you for finding it, Ivy," He told her, kissing the top of her head and giving her lots of praise, "You are so clever and helpful." He turned the bracelet over in his hand, holding it just out of Ivy's reach, "It is not Daizi's, this is not her style."
Alec walked over and peered at the bracelet. "That looks like something Sally Hollis or maybe Aunt Ciara would wear. I don't think Mrs. Hollis has been here for a while, though."
"Could text them both a picture and ask," Xander suggested.
"Oh dear, and she's not going to be back for a couple of weeks," Alec said, biting his lip.
"It's not like it's perishable," Xander reassured his brother. "We can hang onto it until she gets back. Maybe let her know we've got it in case she knows it's missing, and then we'll give it to her next time we see her."
"I was going to text her," Dark said, tucking it into his vest pocket so it would not get lost, "Ivy-Qadira, your Aunt Ciara will be very grateful you found it for her."
"Yes, she will be! That's a nice-looking bracelet," Alec agreed.
"It must have come loose when she was here last," Xander said. He gave Enkidu a final pat and got up from the floor, stretching. "I need a snack. Then I should get to work."
"I wonder if the clasp broke." Dark said, making a mental note to check later. He didn't want to take the bracelet out and risk Ivy trying to take it back, he was surprised enough she let him easily take it once.
"I hope not, but if it did, I hope it's easy to fix," Alec said worriedly. He shook his head to dislodge the thought. They'd fix it later. "Anyway, it's a good thing Ivy found it!"
"I would have found it later in the week, but I am certain she will be relieved to know we have it." Dark replied, pulling Ivy into his lap, "She owes you a good bit of thanks. And you did not even eat it."
"I am supposing we caught her before she could," Dark said. Then, he looked at Alec for a little while before asking, "Did anything else happen at school today?"
"You're going to make me answer, aren't you?" Alec sighed, lolling his head backward. "Okay. So, a couple of the football guys kind of gave Xander a hard time some today. Not much, but, you know, annoying to deal with. I guess people were just in a mood. And then, at lunch time, he might have maybe gotten in kind of an argument with Emma."
"She said something about how college is really important, Xander said it wasn't always, she said that everyone should go, he disagreed, and..." Alec waved a hand. "So on and so forth."
