How Green Becomes Wood

She says thank you! Claire said, before setting the phone aside and checking in with Sloan, who was hoping they called her back before her mom got there.

Dark went to look out the window towards the Appelbaum house, "You two should try to distract yourselves so you do not lose your minds."

"I'm sure she'll be okay," Alec said with more conviction than he felt.

"I'm going to make her some pudding," Xander said, standing up.

Neither said it, but they worried how Sloan's mom was going to react. They were sure she loved Sloan and would be worried, but she was also so strict. It was a strange combo at times.

"She will be," Dark assured them, watching as Blair got into her car and left. He knew all too well what it was like to hear someone you love is in the emergency room and couldn't help but empathize with her.

"Maybe Ivy wants to play," Alec said, watching out the window.

"Want to help me make pudding?" Xander asked. "I was thinking of sticking pudding into cupcakes. Wanna help?"

Alec followed him into the kitchen. "Yes, I do. I call licking at least one spatula or beater or something."

Alec cackled at that.

"Ivy will totally like these," Xander said. He looked up the recipe for a simple white cake since white cake went with everything, and got that going first with Alec helping him. Getting the batter into the cupcake pans was annoying, but they managed without battering more than a third of the kitchen. Once that was cooking, he and Alec made up four batches of pudding: Butterscotch, vanilla, chocolate, and banana. They went into the fridge to set while the cake cooled. Then they cored the cupcakes one at a time, eating a couple of cores and putting the rest in a bowl to be used in a different project. Xander filled the cupcakes with pudding, and Alec put a tiny "plug" on the top. Then Xander delicately frosted them with just a bit of piped frosting, making them different colors, and then they were done. It took some time, but it also kept their minds off Sloan and what might or might not be happening.

"She likely would," Dark agreed, and left the twins to their work so he could check up on Ivy and inform Daizi of what had occurred.

By the time the twins were finished baking, Sloan had sent them another picture. This time she was holding up a peace sign, the blood had been cleaned up, and she had a few stitches through the arch of her eyebrow, angling towards her temple as well as the start of what was likely to be a nasty bruise. She also included the video of the accident, taken from a distance which, thankfully, didn't show much. If one didn't know the injury she had sustained, it really just look like the bar broke, she might've been hit in the face, and when the spotter caught her, it knocked the breath out of her. Of course, once the bar broke, various expletives came from the people in the gym who had been watching, so the video didn't last much longer after she was caught, because filming it didn't seem important anymore. The only reason why the video didn't last longer was because the phone was propped up, so somebody needed to go over to it to turn off the video.

Alec watched the video three times, wincing each time it happened. He then showed Dark to get his opinion.

That is going to be a sweet scar, Xander texted.

That spotter is superhuman, was Peter's response a few minutes later.

Dark inhaled through his teeth, watching the video, "Blair is braver than I am to have put her child into this sport."

It better be, Sloan texted back, Otherwise this has been a waste of time. And the spotters are the best, but I think being caught will hurt tomorrow.

"I guess it breeds toughness," Alec shrugged.

When are you going to be home? Xander asked. Got something for you.

Me too. Xander, stop copying me,
Peter said.

You're just copying me. You wish you were this cool.

Yikes. Sounds like you're having a right ball over there, Peter said. Good luck, and follow doctor's orders!

Lemme know if you need anything,
Xander said.

Alec sent a ton of emojis, sending a rather confusing message.

Wouldn't that just make the scaring worse? Peter asked. If you decide you don't like it, you can always fix it later.

That's true!
Alec agreed You can erase it any time.

Xander snorted out loud. Ha! Jokesters. That scar's going to be rocking.

This is true, no one will ever underestimate you. Especially not if you tell them a really good story to go with it
, Peter agreed.

I think smacking your head into a pole is story enough, Alec said.
