How Green Becomes Wood

Daizi shrugged, "I liked them. They're tactile, so they were a good accessory."

"I believe... they worked really well for that style I dressed in at the time. I was... the king of Hot Topic." Dark said, considering all angles, "I would not attempt it today."

The twins glanced at each other, bit their lips, and decided it would not be wise to go down that path. At least, not right now.

"I can bedazzle something for you, if you want, Mama," Alec offered. "It's very tactile, and you can pick any design you want!"

"That might be nice," Daizi agreed, "I'm not sure what I would wear that's bedazzled, though, I'm not sure if most of my fashion choices suit it... But you're the expert on these things!"

Xander snorted in laughter. "When you say it like that, it sounds like you, yourself, are going to get rhinestones glued all over your actual body."

"I mean," Alec said very clearly, ignoring Xander, "What sort of bedazzled garment do you think would look good with Mama's wardrobe?"

"I would not put it past some people, they make gems to be affixed to the skin, and I can imagine someone requesting they bedazzle my tattoos like a mosaic," Dark replied. Then, looking at Alec said, "Some of her skirts have embroidery. I think if you sparingly added... dazzles?... to key areas as emphasis, it would be lovely. Or you could add a pattern to a plain skirt using them."

"There we go!" Alec said happily. "We have plenty of options for what we could do to add in some lovely glitter and shine."

"You do already have some glittery and shiny things in your weardrobe, so it would fit right in," Xander remarked.

"I guess considering the amount of jewelry I wear, it won't be shocking," Daizi agreed.

"I always forget there is a variety of studs you can use to bedazzle with," Dark admitted, "I always imagine the same gaudy sort of rhinestones, but there are more options than them."

"Loads and loads and loads of options!" Alec said, waving his hand in delight. "I only have a few, but I've been looking up some inspirations and examples, and there are a ton of very un-gaudy ways to use them. They don't even have to be bling-y."

"I admire people who really commit to being gaudy," Daizi mused, running her finger along the rim of her glass, "but I admire everyone who really commits to their aesthetic. I think life is so much more fun that way."

"It's all fun and games until someone's eyes start bleeding," Xander said mildly.

Alec grinned and sprang up from his chair. "Finished with dinner! I'll go get the things to show you." He scampered off, leaving Xander to clear away the table, which he did without complaint.

Xander raised a brow at Dark but decided not to challenge that.

Alec came trotting down with the box in hand. "Okay, first, these are awesome!" He pulled out the blue jean bell bottoms and showed them off. They'd bedazzled a pattern around the hems of the bells, emphasizing the flair with a tight grouping at the very bottom and then bringing it up in a wide, loose pattern farther up the leg to about mid calf. The pockets also had a sparing pattern there. Alec hadn't wanted to go too much or else either the fake gems would pop off or the pockets would be unusable.

Next was a dark grey woman's shirt, about Sloan's size. They'd bedazzled just the shoulders in pink studs in the shape of a starburst going down the arm. That had been their second project, and it wasn't perfect, but it looked pretty good. Alec doubted she'd wear it, but it at least looked pretty comfortable. There was also a black men's shirt in similar style, but with blood red instead of pink.

The belts were next. Xander's had been the first one, and it was mostly black and silver with dots of deep purple scattered throughout. Alec's was similar in pattern, but with blue, green, and dots of yellow. They were pretty decent, though Xander had his doubts about how well they'd withstand the wear and tear.

Lastly were a couple of hats that they'd used as practice dummies before getting to Cooger's hat. They were the worst in quality, but they'd clearly been having fun with the designs.

Dark and Daizi took a good bit of time looking at and feeling all of the work their twins did. It was really impressive. Daizi commented, "I can't believe you did all of this in one afternoon," while Dark couldn't help but find the patterns impressive. Even Dark had to admit the shoulders on the black shirt were interesting.

The belt Xander had made, though, he held for a long time, "In a weird way, this reminds me of being in high school. I wouldn't have worn rhinestones, but this reminds me a lot of the belts I used to wear."

"We went really fast on the hats, and probably should have gone slower in a couple of places, but it was pretty easy," Alec told her.

"Hmm, so I'm going to resemble my dad's high-school attire. Not sure how I feel about that," Xander drawled.
