How Green Becomes Wood

Dark let Ivy be the one to pull the plug out of the tub, and allowed her to stay in the tub was the water drained. She continued to scream, but it was hard for her to argue she wanted to stay in the water when the water had all drained away.

Alec cleaned his cat, made sure she was nice and dry, and then went to his room to finish up his homework. Kiki was content to stay with him, sleepy and happy after her water adventure. Alec still had no clue how she'd gotten wet and could only assume he'd hear the story from Dark later. Where else could she have toggen wet?

Xander went down to his room to finish his own homework, delighted the bedazzling had gone over so well. It actually hadn't been the worst. Creating the patterns was fun, as was figuring out where on the clothing article to put them, and the application was fascinating. The colors were a little overwhelming when all of them were out, but Alec was good at stating a color scheme, getting out just those colors, and cutting down the amount of choices. That had made it a lot easier to deal with. He texted Sloan between homework problems, telling her the success of her suggestion.

Sloan was thrilled it went over well and mentioned she was thinking about inviting him to get their nails done. She wasn't sure when, since they were both so busy, but she thought it might be nice.

Alec initiated a conversation with Sloan by sending her a picture of Kiki, mid-toweling, still damp with her fur sticking out in all directions. She got wet somehow. Sopping wet! Weirdly, she doesn't seem too mad about it.

Oh, yeah! I've seen that one! It is so cute, Alec texted back. I don't know what she was up to, but Ivy was taking a bath, so it probably had something to do with that. I'll ask my dad later.

Oh, man, I hope not! Poor kitty, Alec texted, chuckling to himself. Hey, you'll never guess what Xander and I did today. At Xander's suggestion! He told her all about it and included pictures of some of the items.

Those look so good! Sloan praised and did generally mean it. Cooger's hat was a bit extreme for her tastes, but she recognized it was meant to be, I was wondering, actually, would you want to get a manicure with me? I don't normally get my nails done professionally but I've got a meet coming up, I thought it might be cool.

Any time at all works for me. I'm pretty sure there's nothing going on that day. I'm looking forward to it! Alec paused to think for a moment. Then he sent another text. Would it be horribly inconvenient if you gave me a ride? I can ask Xander to give me a ride if you need to meet there if you're busy.

You will! See you tomorrow! Alec grinned, thinking of the shirt they'd made. The best part was, it had been Xander's idea! But Alec was willing to totally take the fall for that. It made it funnier to have Xander as his silent partner. Now, to give it to her tomorrow, or wait?

See you tomorrow Sloan replied and then tossed her phone aside, pleased her scheme with Xander had gone over well. She considered texting Xander about her plans with Alec, but decided, ultimately, Alec was likely to tell him for her, there was no reason to act like it was a big deal.

Alec did, indeed, go and tell Xander, excited about the upcoming nail day. Xander agreed that it sounded like a lot of fun for people who enjoyed having their hands held while getting color put on them. Alec laughed at that, but agreed it was not for everyone. He was still excited about it.

At school, when presented with her shirt, Sloan thanked the twins heartily and promised to wear it... and then glared teasingly at Xander, joking he was trying to ruin her street cred. So clearly, they had to wear theirs together, for balance.

Saturday, she came right up to the house and knocked on the door to collect Alec. It seemed nicer than honking or texting him to hurry up already.

Alec opened the door almost immediately, grinning. "Hey! One sec, I'm trying to find my phone." He turned, frowning as he tried to remember where he'd last put it. He was wearing a fairly normal outfit for most guys with black pants and a brown long-sleeved shirt, but then he was wearing the vest Milo's mom had made him, rocking the colorful pattern happily.
