"It's been good, thanks," Lex nodded as she pushed herself up. "It's been pretty productive. I've gotten a lot of stuff done today and broken my head against an impossible problem. How about you guys? Up to a lot of fun out here?"
"It's been peaceful," Daizi replied, resting her hand atop her baby's head, "This one has been really enjoying getting to enjoy the beginning of spring. I'm not sure how well she remembers last year."
"I think Dark does, my handwriting is rarely legible," Daizi replied, "I know he kept up with one for her first year and we keep a list of the words she's said. And I think with her, we can expect a year of firsts for awhile yet, last year was certainly full of them."
"Sounds like that baby book is going to be bursting," Lex said approvingly. "I remember when keeping the baby teeth was a big thing. I could never do that. I think it's gross as heck, but, hey, you do you, right? I like the books a lot better, and locks of hair aren't bad."
"The word list is mostly so we can report to her pediatrician and keep tabs on her development, although it is nice to add new ones to the list," Daizi explained, "And I'm not sure what we'll do when she starts losing her teeth. She doesn't even have all of hers yet. I may keep some, though. And I like the thought of keeping a lock of her hair. If her brothers would donate some of theirs I would braid it all together."
"That's a cute idea," Lex agreed. "I never did anything like that, but I think I would if I had another kid. Heaven forbid. Not something I see happening ever."
"I'm returning soon, April Ninth is my first day. To start I'll only be going in on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Anyway, we should probably leave you too. It's getting colder, so this one," Daizi bent to pick up Ivy, "should be getting inside."
"You could have gone inside at any time," Daizi lightly tutted, carrying Ivy in. She nearly began to fuss when she realized she wasn't going to be outside anymore, but after actually being brought into the house she settled herself, seemingly deciding it wasn't so bad after all.
The twins shed their clothes, and as they did, Kiki came running up to Alec, yelling unhappily. Alec cooed to her and apologized for not paying more attention to her. Once he'd put away his jacket, he scooped up his cat and carried her off.
Just before dinner, Sloan sent a text in a group chat she had put together for this purpose, including Xander, Peter, and Becky, I thought of what we should do for Alec.
