How Green Becomes Wood

Becky responded with a slue of excited emojis. Yes! So perfect! I am one hundred percent down for that!

I can get behind that. I am not sure what I have that's sparkly, but I can find something, Peter agreed. I like this idea.

Does it have to be multi colored? Xander asked.

He's your brother dude, Sloan texted back, using a few skull emojis for emphasis, Just wear what you think would make him happy. I'm gonna wear the shirt you both bedazzled for me.

Xander bedazzled something? Becky texted so forcefully her gasp was almost heard.

How come I didn't get a bedazzled shirt? Peter asked.

Me too! Becky added.

Xander texted back, Neither of you are cool enough for this skill.

Fair, Peter agreed with a tongue emoji.

Becky sent a confusing amount of emojis.

What about me? Becky asked. I might not have something!

You were wearing a bedazzled sweater last Tuesday, and a scarf on Thursday, Peter pointed out.

I can get you something if you don't have anything, Xander agreed for Peter.

Becky the only way I'd believe you didn't have anything is if your closet caught on fire lmao Sloan said, Do you think we should have it on all day or like... reveal it at lunch so when he comes in, he sees all of us together all at once?

I think we should do it at lunch time, Peter chimed in. I think it'd be more impactful.

Might be a pain to hide it until then, but yeah, I think same,
Xander agreed.

There was a moment of silence, and then Becky said, I agree. It's going to SUCK to hide it that long, but the reveal would be worth it!

Oh goody, Xander said dryly, but he was prepared for this. It was worth it.

Sqee!!! I am so excited! See you Monday! Becky texted.

Can red and yellow go together without looking like katchup and mustard? Peter mused.

Text me pics, I'll help, Becky volunteered, and they took their conversation to their own private chat.

Sloan sat back, feeling satisfied about having planned something good for her friend. Then, after a little while, she chose to let Claire in on the plan. She may not be a close friend of his, Sloan thought, but the more the merrier. However, she didn't give Claire the full details... although Claire was able to guess, since Sloan had complained to her about Emma a couple times before.

It took Xander a while to find something sparkly. He decided to wear the shirt that he and Alec had made together, but that didn't seem like enough, so, when Alec was distracted playing with Kiki, Xander snuck into Alec's room and dug through his clothes for something that would work. Thanks to their different physical activities, their body shapes were a little different with Xander being a bit more muscled in the shoulders and chest, but since Alec tended to like looser fits, Xander was still able to find a few things that might work. He snagged everything that looked possible and snuck back downstairs. He just happened to pass Dark as he headed downstairs with an armful of sparkly clothes. He looked Dark in the eye and wordlessly sidled sideways and down. Once he was in his room, then he sat down and went through his stolen goods, figuring out what would work together.

The next day, when he came upstairs, he had on a bulky black sweatshirt that hung down and concealed his entire upper body. It was not a particularly unusual thing for him to wear, so Alec didn't think anything of it. Alec, for his part, was wearing brown pants and a green shirt, which he admitted made him look a bit like a tree, but he liked the green shirt. He did complain that he couldn't find the belt he'd been looking for, but he'd settled for the leather one Xander had made for him.

When they arrived at school, Becky was wearing a jacket with a giant graphic with a cute kitten, but no sparkles in sight. She waved happily but then avoided the group, going to talk with other friends. Peter also looked normal in his usual "business casual" outfit that looked an awful lot like a school uniform in a school that did not use uniforms. His backpack was suspiciously full.

When he met Xander on the stairs, Dark stared tiredly at him and then went upstairs. Whatever shenanigans he was planning, he hoped, wouldn't come back to vex him.

Sloan came in wearing her green jacket like she often did, she just had it zippered shut. It was a little unusual for her to keep it shut, but since she wore this jacket almost every day, it wasn't particularly suspicious. She just looked cold.

"Very nice!" Alec said, giving her a high-five.

Xander looked for Milo. He'd texted Milo to let him know what was going on - not as an invitation to wear sparkly things, just so he'd be aware - and he wanted to make sure he'd remembered. It'd be perfect if Milo could get a picture of Alec's face when the moment came!

"How are you doing? We missed you on Friday," Sloan said.

When receiving the text, Milo half considered finding something sparkly to put on, but not only did he not have anything of the sort, he knew that if anyone was going to get negative attention for wearing it... it'd be him. But, he was impressed by the idea, and was excited to get to photograph it.

Alec shrugged. "I'm alright. I needed some time to sort out my head on Friday, but I think I'm doing a lot better now. I'm not looking forward to seeing Emma. I'm guessing you heard all about that?"

"A little sad, but... good," Alec admitted. "I feel almost guilty for how okay I feel, to be honest."

"I don't feel guilty at all," Xander said blandly. "Come on. We gotta get to class. Chop chop."
