How Green Becomes Wood

"I don't know what that means," Peter admitted and looked at Xander.

"I don't watch cooking shows," Xander said with a shrug.

"I choose the teddy bear!" Alec said cheerfully.

"There's this show from a year years ago called The Bear," Sloan answered, tearing off a piece of her sandwich, "It was about this really angry chef. But I'm surprised you don't like cooking shows, Xander, I would've thought you'd be into them."

"Nah. Those are usually all about the drama and competitiveness and impossible timings that make no sense," Xander said, shaking his head. "Or hosts that clearly have no idea what they're doing and are just pretty faces. I do like some of the really old ones like with Julia Childs. Weird recipes, but genuine."

"Yeah, I've seen that," Xander said to Milo. "It's not bad. Mostly toned down drama. Still got timing inconsistencies for camera drama, but cool recipes. As long as they don't try anything too exotic. KN's fine. He's a good chef, knows what he's talking about, too much drama and screaming for me. I see why people like it, though."

"It's from before the concept really took off and producers were just looking for the craziest people they could find," Sloan explained, "It's good."

"I like celebrity bake off," Milo mumbled, "the charity one."

"I'll give it a shot sometime," Xander agreed. "What's that about baking celebrities?"

"Bake Off," Peter said in amusement. It's a good one. They do it for charities and things, right, Milo?"

"Who's that?" Xander asked.

"Oh, I know him. He's funny," Peter grinned. "He's an actor and comedian and other things, I believe. Did you see that one bit, Milo?" He described one of Acaster's jokes.

"Like, stand-up comedy, where there's a stage and a set time for someone to just tell jokes and funny stories, with or without some kind of point or message," Xander replied.

"Not much, actually," Xander admitted. "I don't really sit and watch most things. Might listen to the occassional podcast, if it's shorter form, or I watch documenteries or things I'm interested in. Sometimes movies, usually things we watch together as a family."
