How Green Becomes Wood

"What are they doing?" Daizi asked, trying to listen to the rhythmic footfalls.

"Dabke," Dark answered.

"Oh!" Daizi replied, and turned to her sons, "This is a very important dance to learn, they do it at basically every wedding you'll ever go to. And it's a lot of fun."

"Next time, I totally will! If Ba teaches me," Alec grinned.

Xander smirked. "He already suggested teaching you, and you turned him down."

"I thought he wanted to teach me ballroom dancing. Not cool kicking stomping dancing," Alec said loftily.

"I didn't say it was easy. I said it would be easier to learn," Alec said. "Easier to learn because there are a variety of teachers who teach it. Not many people around here teach dabke, I bet, so if Ba didn't want to teach me, then it would be very, very difficult to learn."

Alec looked up at his father, who was taller even when he was sitting. "No offense, but two reasons: 1. I think that might break his back and, 2. Ballroom dancing is a little flirty to be doing with your father, I think. Not to mention, with Ba's aura, I will definitely be learning the girl part and not even realize."

"He's got a point. Three of them," Xander agreed.
