"Yes, yes, but it is old news," Dark replied indignantly, waving his hand, "It was back during the wintertime. I went with Cooger. I did tell Daizi about it afterwards."

"I don't remember that!" Daizi exclaimed.

"I did tell you," Dark repeated.
 
"I am harangued to spend more time with my friends, and now I am harangued to have not spent more time with my family, I cannot win," Dark said, in mock annoyance. More gently to Alec, though, he assured him, "I was not in a state where you would have wanted to be in my company, you recall how this past winter was for me."
 
"I'm more concerned about the food aspect and missing out on that," Xander smirked.

Alec smiled at Dark and nodded. "I understand, Ba. I am only joking. You definitely deserve to go out to sushi whenever you like."
 
"I know, and I appreciate it," Dark told Alec in his gentle, fatherly way before turning to Xander and, with his previous firmness, "But you do not begrudge your mother for going out to eat without you?"

"Now do not go about pulling me into this," Daizi retorted, pretending as though she was truly shocked.
 
"This is true," Xander frowned. "Mama, have you been going out and enjoying a lot of good food without your kids?"

Alec giggled. "I guess we must hold her to the same standards, don't we? Although Mama rarely goes to sushi buffets."
 
"Wow, Ghalib, really?" Daizi asked, playfully shoving her husband.

"For better or for worse, in sickness and in health," Dark recited, even though those were technically not vows they had ever taken, his eyes glinting.

"Until death do we part," Daizi repeated dryly.

"Spider, my love," Dark told her, taking her hand in his, "We go down together or not at all." Then he looked to his children, and still holding her hand and said, "The last time your mother was rehearsing for the music festival, they went out to fondue afterwards."
 
The twins gasped in unison.

"Mama!" Alec said, hand to his chest.

"Fondue?" Xander said in mock offense.

"You never told us!" Alec accused.

Xander shook his head at her. "I thought we understood one another when it came to food."
 
"Listen," Daizi said, "I wasn't the one who suggested it."

Accusingly, Dark pointed out, "But you went along with it."

"When you have five other women excited about going to fondue, how could I refuse?" Daizi asked.

"So, philosophically: if the majority of a group agrees on something, that makes it a moral decision?" Dark teased.
 
"Wait, I see her point," Alec said musingly.

"Nope, I'd say they're both still guilty and owe us fondue and sushi," Xander said.

"Oh, well, I am on Xander's side," Alec said.

Xander eyed him skeptically. "You're on my side now?"

"Yes, I am."

"Why?"

"Your side has sushi and fondue in the future."

"Fair point."
 
"Like I need a lesson in morality from a nihilist," Daizi complained.

"A reformed nihilist," Dark retorted, and looking at his sons said, "I already told you we can go to the sushi buffet for Father's Day, but that was enough for you."
 
"When do we go to fondue?" Xander asked. "Sushi is excellent, and I'm looking forward to that, but fondue?"

"How about we get food here and now?" Alec prompted. "It might not be fondue, but it's good stuff."
 
"I would like to remind you all it is Mother's Day and out of respect I should receive immediate forgiveness," Daizi pointed out, fighting not to grin, "All complaints should be redirected to my husband. But, you know, if you ever want to eat out at a restaurant, you can just ask."

"I believe they are asking now," Dark suggested, but glanced at his toddler, uncertain of if they could bring her to fondue. More than likely, they'd need a sitter.

"Thank you," Daizi replied, flipping her hair over her shoulder, laughing.

"I feel bad excluding her," Dark said, watching the way she played with a toy they handed her, "but we would need a sitter. Otherwise, she would be unhappy at best, or risk harming herself, or one of us."
 
"She won't know she's being excluded, I bet. At least, not for a while yet," Alec grinned. "By the time she realizes it, she'll be old enough to come with us!"
