How Green Becomes Wood

"Sounds like a plan!" Alec said cheerily as he stood to help. The table was cleaned off in no time flat, and they headed off to the last store.

"Having any fun?" Xander asked as he hobbled alongside Sloan.
 
"Yeah, it's been great. I mean, it's been a bit tiring because I've changed my clothes about ten thousand times, but it's way better than when I went shopping with my mom," Sloan replied, "Hopefully it hasn't been miserable for you."
 
"I am in the absolute pit of misery," Xander said dryly. "Nah, it's okay. Never really done something like this before, and it's kind of fun to see your reactions to stuff."

Meanwhile, behind them, Alec had cautiously taken Claire's hand and was whispering to her the real story of how Xander had damaged his ankle: that he'd stepped off a curb funny and rolled it in a way that it did not like one bit.
