"That would be great if I needed them, but I do not," Dark said, removing Ivy from his shoulders, "I am a fit and active adult, and there is nothing to fear. I wear them on planes, but I do not need them in my daily life."
 
"You are going to think you have a sore muscle and fall over dead," Daizi griped, holding his hand as they walked on towards the elephants.

"That is not going to happen," Dark said, setting Ivy on the ground and holding onto her leash, "Need I remind you I do not fight going to the doctor's?"
 
Xander and Alec glanced at each other, and Alec murmured to Xander, "Does going to the doctor equal following their advice?"

"You'd think so, considering how much that advice costs," Xander said mildly.

Alec snickered and looked out at the elephants, his eyes widening. "Wow! I've never seen anything like it!"
 
"You have never seen an elephant before?" Dark asked, but not in a tone implying he was mocking or shaming Alec for his lack of experience.

"I want to go to Thailand to visit an elephant sanctuary," Daizi said, "I've been able to touch one, once, when I was young, but I've since learned it wasn't really an ethical experience."
 
"We've only been to the zoo once as a field trip, and we didn't make it here. I think we maybe made it halfway," Alec said, leaning on the dividing fence. "They are beautiful! And so big!"

"Their color is different than I expected. What do they feel like?" Xander asked, watching their trunks with interest.

"And these are Asian Elephants," Dark remarked, "so there are even larger elephants than these."

"It's been a long time, so I can't recall. I remember it was warm to the touch, which had surprised me," Daizi said, "Not exactly soft, but alive."
 
"That would be lovely," Daizi said with a sigh, "And I hear Thailand is beautiful."

"Mama," Ivy said, tugging on her mother's pants with one hand and pointing at the elephant's trunk as they used it to eat, "This?"

"It's an Elephant, Hummingbird," Daizi replied, not knowing Ivy was asking a more specific question.
 
Alec leaned over and whispered to Daizi, "She wants to know about the trunk."

"I read somewhere that baby elephants can't use their trunks very well," Xander remarked. "Like human babies learning coordination."
 
"Oh," Daizi murmured softly, quietly handling the feelings of not being able to properly answer Ivy's question ruffled up in her as she said, "That's the elephant's trunk, Ivy! It's their nose, but it also works kind of like our hand!"
 
"I feel like you stole my joke," Daizi teased.

"I think he did too," Dark agreed, looking at the map "It looks like up ahead we will pass the Okapi and the Bongoes, then we can choose to either go north towards the Penguins and Aquatics, or West towards the Australia House."
 
"Honestly I am not sure," Dark replied, "We honestly do not visit often. They are orange, that is for sure." He turned the map towards Alec.

"That seems like a good plan," Daizi agreed, "You should send pictures from the Australia House to Peter to tease him."
 
"We chose the right day to visit the zoo," Daizi remarked, "Sometimes it feels like every animal is sleeping."

"Okapi are so strange looking," Dark said, watching them.

"What do they look like?"

"Their head is shaped sort of like a giraffe, but they aren't nearly as tall. Their legs are striped like a zebra, and the rest of them are a dark, warm brown colour."
