"It is. It's in the mucus and brain. So. When a scavenger comes along it can ingest it." He explained and started helping dig out around the body "and who knows how it has evolved since those books were written..best not to risk it"
 
Jonah grunted in agreement and started finding relatively dry wood to start the fire with. Once it was going and hot enough, they could add a bit of slightly damp stuff, but not at first. "Did either of you two or that mutt get hurt?"
 
"Nah we're fine. Arena has some skill though" made sense since she had survived this long

"So...how are things with Misty?"
 
"Fine?" He raised a brow "don't sound so happy about it" he joked lightly "Arena and I aren't an item" he added. He was attempting to connect with jonah
 
Jonah smirked. "I know you two aren't, but I can't decide if she's attracted to you on that level or just follows you like a puppy."
 
He chuckled softly "she grew up in a pavk. Probably just see's me as the alpha thats all" he reasoned, made the most sense to him "she's a nice enough girl"
 
Mathias crouched and used a handful of dry pine needles to help get the fire going, it took quickly after that, Mathias stepped back, neither one of them could be prepared for the stench of a burning body and sure never to forget it either. "I trust you can keep the fire going and under control?"
 
Mathias smirked "sorry..need to scout for any other rabid animals. I'm sure I'll be back before long to take over" he wasn't sure he could stand the stench much longer so close to it
 
"Uh-huh, and it just so happens that it's you who just has to do the scouting," Jonah said dryly. Then he waved a hand. "Off you go, shoo. Go find these rabbit animals or whatever."
 
Mathias laughed a little "well if you prefer to go that's fine. But how are you with a rifle?" Killing rabid animals long range was much more ideal then getting too close
 
"Terrible. I'd waste all the shot," Jonah said truthfully. "You're a better choice. Lucky you." He turned and started adding more wood to the fire.
 
Mathias smirked "I'll be back soon then" he said before goong off to find Arena to come help him. The fire would likely keep anything away now
 
Arena settled Meme by the fire, letting him sleep. She'd told the others more or less what had happened and ensured everyone was safe and calm. She sat near the entrance testing her bowstring.
 
Mathias soon got back "Arena" he called when he was closer "come on. Want to hunt some rabid animals?" He invited
 
Arena brightened and sprang to her feet. "Yes, this is wise," she agreed quickly. "You have the gloves, yes? If we find them?"
 
He nodded and patted his pocket "right here" he answered. "Nothing should bother them here, we'll make a quick round and check the traps too"
 
Arena gave a sharp nod and stepped forward. "Meme sleeps. It is safe to go hunting now." She was eager to go but waited politely for the Alpha to leave first.
