Land Down Under (KJDarKnight & Treasure)

"Hostiles in the area. We will need back up to get back safely" she reported back. She hoped the other trade crew could get to them soon as the storm was over and they could go home. For now they were just stuck.

"I have been in contact with the other crew. As soon as you know where you are, they will be on their way, rain providing," Gray told her. "We will have medical standing by upon your arrival."

"Will have location in the morning" she responded. Only now realizing how tightly she was gripping that radio, tears mingling with rain water on her cheeks. Everything that had happened sinking in "never coming to surface again Gray. I'm terrified" that radio and grays messages was the only thing keeping her together at the moment

"Just get yourself home, Misty, and come to see me. You never have to go to the surface again if you do not want to, but hold it together. Just a little longer. You can do this."

It took Misty a moment to respond again, needing to collect herself "I'm trying. I don't want to die. They tried to eat me" she shuddered again and drew in a shaky breath as she tapped the message

"Eat?" Gray repeated, certain he'd heard wrong. "I await your story when you get back. The authorities are also eager to hear it. Maybe someday this will be a legend we tell the grandchildren."

"Yes. Eat. Have the bite mark to prove it" she answered, letting out another shaky breath "need to conserve battery" she added "I'll check in tomorrow morning"

"Be well, Misty." Gray considered before adding, "Mathias needs to get home alive. His sister needs him. Desolation signing off." Perhaps that would give Mathias a little extra will to fight.

Misty held on to the radio for several more minutes before she could pry her numb fingers off and put it away. She looked up at the rest of the group again "Lynna?" The woman had sort of fallen into the position of leader as the most able bodied from the original crew. So Misty would report to her now

Lynna looked up from the feeble flame she had finally managed to raise. "Yeah? What is it, Misty? Did you get in touch with Gray?"

Misty nodded "when Mathias is able in the morning we need to get our appoximate location to him. He will send backup soon as the rain permits to get us home. Medical will be ready to receive us" she reported "said Mathias needs to get back alive. His sister needs him" she added. Gray must of thought that important to include so she passed it on to her as well

Lynna frowned. "I have no idea why he'd want to tell Mathias that right now, but okay." She turned back to trying to get the roots she'd found to catch fire. It was slow going, but it was working! "You should put that away and rest now."

Jonah was already asleep. Or maybe he'd just passed out. Something like that.

Misty reached into her pocket "here. For tomorrow this makes a good starter" she held out a handful of tree bark. "Maybe one of the top dwellers could go get some sticks we can dry out overnight" she added as she tried to get somewhat comfortable

"That's a good idea," Lynna agreed. She pocketed the bark. "I'm hoping if I can get it strong enough, I can keep it going through the night." Standing, she turned to find the boy. "Hey, uh... do you have a name?"

He looked over and nodded "yes uh...Mathias say my name quick foot" he said happily "Quefo" he translated it into his native language he seemed quite proud to be able to explain that

Quefo smiled happily then looked out at the storm "Yes" he nodded again "you have bag I use?" He asked. It would help him to collect more at once if he had something he could put it in

"Yes yes" he noddes and put the strap over his shoulder before climbing out into the rain.

It was about half an hour before Quefo returned with a stuffed bag of wood and a few more branches under his arm.

Climbing in he shook out his wet hair and set the bag and wood down. A few peices fairly dry already "good?" He asked, looking for praise. He was a kid

Lynna smiled and patted his shoulder. "Very good! Excellent! Thank you for doing that." She took the wood from him and put the driest pieces in a pile, setting the wet stuff around the fire to dry faster. A couple of the largest pieces she cautiously fed to the fire. The heat slowly filled the cave, fighting the damp and cold of the rain.
