Land Down Under (KJDarKnight & Treasure)

Misty slipped into the kitchen and got a glass of water but she didn't come back, she sat on the cold floor to drink it quietly to herself

Justira looked over at Gray again and sighed "Is she ok?"

Gray shrugged. "I don't know. I should go and talk to her. Will you be alright?" He slowly started to unwind his legs. Ugh, he was so stiff!

Justira nodded "I'm fine, I'll keep the couch warm" she smiled. She was more worried about him than herself. She felt fine, plenty rested now.

Gray nodded and painfully forced himself upright. He was still a little shaky, but mostly he was just stiff. He walked slowly to the kitchen and looked down at Misty. Awkwardly, he lowered himself down to the floor and tipped his head as he watched her.

Misty looked up after a moment "Hey Gray" she said softly as not to wake anyone else "I didn't mean to bother you two"

She sighed softly "Just a bad dream... That's all" she lied, truth was she was feeling incredibly lonely despite the full room. She was far too sensitive, poor thing

Gray studied her, his eyes narrowed. "Somehow I doubt that, Little Water Droplet," he said, using Badru's name for her. "You can tell me. You know I do not shed secrets. What is wrong?"

She frowned "Don't call me that" that was reserved for Badru and she didn't like it when Gray used it, felt, wrong somehow.
She looked over at him for a moment, then at Jonah, Lynna, Justira, her eyes lingering on her a moment longer before she looked back at Gray "Just tired, stressed maybe..." she said "I'm going back to sleep, you should too. Justira might be getting cold" she stood up and set the glass down

Gray held out a hand gently to stop her, keeping his distance. "Misty, you are my friend. I am worried. I would like if you would talk to me, but I will not pester you. Just know that I am here. That I want to help. Please know you are not alone."

Misty considered him a moment "What makes Justira so special you will open up to her but not me?" she finally asked but did not wait "You listen certainly but it is clear you don't trust me. Whatever it is... I'm happy you have someone you can open up to now... goodnight Gray"

Quiet hurt glinted in Gray's eyes, but he simply moved aside to let her through. He did not fully understand her words... accusations? But he knew she was hurting for some reason. Why should it matter that he spoke to Justira? Or really anyone? He had not opened up to Lynna, either, or anyone else. What did it matter that she was among the long list?

He honsetly didn't know if he was over or underthinking things, so he let it go for now.

she expected him to respond somehow, she wasn't sure if it would have been better if he'd tried to deny or defend it, maybe he didn't even understand why she was upset. She didn't say anything more though, instead she grabbed a blanket and found an empty corner to huddle up by herself. Maybe she was just meant to be alone, her parents had left her alone, she had spent most of her life alone. Maybe that was her lot.

Justira watched as Misty went to curl up alone, she looked over at Gray with a furrowed brow, silently asking if everything was ok

Gray meekly returned to his spot on the couch and shifted so his back was to Misty. "She is angry with me for... nevermind. It does not matter why, but she is upset, and to be honest, I am not sure I understand why." He shook his head lightly. "Perhaps it will be more clear after a night of sleep."

Lynna grumbled something again, kicking out in her sleep. "Get yours you dirty rotten mister!" she slurred.

she frowned a little and nodded "People can be complicated to understand. She seems, scared. The look of a mouse" she tried to explain her expression of quiet sensitive Misty and she wasn't wrong really.

"A mouse?" Gray repeated. "We mostly have rats, and they are very mean. She does seem scared, though. I thought it just about going to the surface. The last time she went... things went very, very badly. I do not blame her for not wanting to try again."

"Mice are small, they hide in their holes, skittish and quiet" she explained what a mouse was like. Some things didn't change. "Maybe that is all it is. I don't know anything about her to be more help" she signed

Gray smiled at her. "Thank you for talking to me. We should get some sleep and prepare for tomorrow. It's going to be a busy day." He moved to lay down, pushing his pillow into a more comfortable position.

she nodded her agreement to that "Do you mind if I stay on this side?" it wasn't a terribly long couch, neither one of them would be able to stretch out fully but she hadn't minded curling up at his feet before. She just didn't want to make him uncomfortable

"It is fine. Make yourself comfortable. It is chilly tonight."ˆ Gray curled up at his end of the couch and made himself comfortable. He twisted awkwardly and signed, "Goodnight, Justira."
