Land Down Under (KJDarKnight & Treasure)

Mathias nodded "fine just tired that's all" he answered "are you doing alright? Not too tired after today?"

Justira offered a grateful smile "thank you" she signed

"Oh.." Charlie looked down at the apple "I kind of..saved it..for you" he hadn't eaten his earlier so he could give it to her

Badru shook his head. "No. I am fine. Can Jonah carry Gray tomorrow? Peter needs to stay off his feet. I do not know I can carry both."

~~

"You are welcome," Gray assured her with a smile.

~~

Lynna finally stopped fidgetting and turned to actually face Charlie. "You did? Um, thank you, but why?" She reached out and carefully took the apple.

Mathias nodded "I'm sure he can" he looked over at Jonah "You don't mind carrying Gray tomorrow?" he asked, hopefully it wouldn't be as long of a day.

--

Charlie shifted "I uh... I don't know I saw how much you liked them so..." he shrugged a little, awkward but honest "I liked seeing how much you enjoy them" he fidgeted with the zipper on his bag

"Nah, that's fine. Gray's not that heavy," Jonah said agreeably.

"Thank you," Badru said gravely. He looked at Mathias. "Rest. You need rest."

~~

"Oh." Lynna blushed faintly, rolling the apple over in her hands. "Thank you. I do really like them." That was lame. Why did she say that?? Obviously he knew that!

Charlie smiled and glanced up at her, he seemed happy enough with that response. he turned back to the food he was preparing for everyone else, leaving it at that for now. "You're really pretty you know.." ok maybe he wasn't leaving it at that.

Misty was quietly watching them from the other side of the cave, she smiled faintly, good for him.

Lynna's face reddened even more. Unable to decide what she was supposed to say, she tried a feeble joke. "You should see me when I'm not covered in mud."

Jonah returned to Misty and flopped down on his blanket. He glanced at her curiously.

Charlie glanced at her and smiled "I have" he said "back at desolation" he pointed out, he had taken notice of her there too but never had much of a chance to talk back there, she was always caught up in helping out and doing everything else.

Misty looked over at Jonah when he came back, she nodded a little towards Lynna and Charlie "Found his courage... knew he would"

"Oh. Right." She looked down, suddenly wishing she was wearing something other than leather boots, dirty breaches, and a well-worn shirt, all in dire need of washing.

"Then good luck to him," Jonah said. "Looks like Lynna's losing her nerve as fast as he's finding his."

"Doesn't matter what you wear" Charlie dared to say before he set back to work on the food, mostly vegetables this time, they needed more meat but this would do for now. He added some extra protein from prepackaged stuff for tonight anyway so it would be sufficient for their needs and tried to make it taste good with extra herbs too

"I think it will balance out" Misty said "Must feel nice to be flattered like that" she commented looking back at Charlie and Lynna

Lynna shuffled awkwardly. No one had ever said such things to her and sounded like they were sincere. She was used to Fealar's style of raunchy compliments and bold flattery this... gentle flattery? She didn't know what to say or do, and now she was thinking of Fealar and missing his stupid face. "Is it ready?" she asked quietly. "I can get the others."

Jonah looked down at Misty. "Been a while since someone's shown you interest?" he asked before he thought.

Charlie nodded "yes it's ready" he confirmed, getting out the plates for everyone that he had snatched along with the food he had stolen.

Misty glanced briefly up at him "Nobody ever has" she told him and sighed softly "Looks like the food is ready, we should eat and get some rest, been a long day" she changed the subject away from her again

"Time for food!" Lynna said, bouncing to her feet. She went around encouraging everyone to come and get some food. She gave the wolf and the wolf-girl a wide berth but stopped by Justira and offered her a hand and a smile.

"Wow. You must surround yourself with blind people," Jonah grumbled as he stood tiredly and started to walk to the fire.

Misty blushed a little and watched him stand up before she got up too, walking over to get some food as Charlie started to serve up the plates of food, portioning each serving out.

Justira smiled and accepted the hand, getting to her feet

"Thanks," Jonah muttered to Charlie. "Good food."

Lynna helped Justira up and signed, "Food is ready. No meat, but it looks pretty good!"

Gray smiled as he followed them a step behind.

"Hope so" Charlie smiled and handed him a plate of food, followed by Misty who had come over behind him

"It smells good" she signed "Charlie is a good cook"

Jonah returned to his usual spot and sat cross-legged, watcching the wolf-girl. She looked asleep, her and her wolf, and neither had so much as twitched with people getting up and moving around with food. He hoped she wasn't dead or anything.

Lynna smiled and nodded. "He wants to learn to hunt, I think, but I don't think I want to cook any more than I have to!"

Mathias brought a plate over and set it by her for whenever she woke up. They had no meat for the wolf but they could hunt the next night.

"that's ok, leave the cooking to others then" Justira reasoned

She opened her eyes and looked up at Mathias. "What is it?" she mumbled, a little disoriented.

"Do you cook?" Lynna asked, realizing she'd never seen Justira cook or hunt or do any of those things. She kept a tidy house, though, and Gray seemed fond of her.

"Food, you should eat" he encouraged "keep tour strength up" Mathias said gently

-

She nodded "I can cook and hunt if need be but I have not been needed to cook yet" she answered

She leaned over and sniffed at the food. Then she picked it up and started eating a little half heartedly. "Thank."

~~

"That makes sense," Lynna said then went to get her food.
