The Shopping Centers
The weather the day before had turned suddenly for the worse, and Re had barely been able to concentrate on her work the entire time after the sky turned crimson just at sunset. So one could imagine after hours of pacing and getting orders wrong, Re's reaction would be if she found her new friend with no shoes on, but surprisingly dry.

The next day was mandated a shopping trip. No exceptions.

Re gave what spare clothes she could to Margot and her only pair of spare sandals first thing in the morning and the Arteghian woman marched the Iverian to the shopping centers.

"Where did you go yesterday that you stayed out so late in that storm?" Re asked, stretching slightly as they walked down the sidewalk. They'd been shopping all morning, having gotten most of what Margot needed, including shoes. Re had refused to hear anything after seeing the state Margot was in until she could get Margot in a hot bath, dry clothes, and fed. And by that point, Margot seemed spent so she sent her to bed. "You had me really worried."

Margot was very animated. After yesterday's excitement and the thrill of putting new wrappings on her body today, she was in one of the best moods she'd ever been in. She was wearing one of the new outfits they'd bought. Re had vetoed several ensembles until Margot settled on a cute little green patterned dress and some matching dressy sandals.

"Oh man!" (She wasn't sure where she had picked up that phrase but found herself putting it into her Lutetian a lot.) "Well y'know I wanted to go look at the Phantom Quarter. So I did. There's... not much there, y'know?"

She held her hands up to the sky, a shopping bag dangling from each. "Then the sky went ~red~." She used the Iverian word for red, and if Re was particularly shrewd, she would probably have noticed it's the same word she used to describe her own magic. "So I was surprised! But it felt wrong... And it was real close to the bakery. Oh man! So I started running!"

She stopped moving, probably for dramatic effect. "And guess what? I somehow turned on an enchantment! I can't do that in this... bald form." For a werewolf coming from a place that most people are furry all the time, they start thinking of the human form as the aberrant one. "I think I was resonating with the ~red~ in the sky! So I went running off... like a lightning bolt!" She moved her hand quickly to punctuate how fast she ran. A bag with clothes in it trailed behind it.

She suddenly slumped. "I think that's when I lost my shoes. Oh man..." She wiggled her toes in her brand-new sandals (Re's loaners were now occupying the box that these had come in) and seemed to perk back up. "I should color my nails since you can see them. I saw some people doing that, oh man!"

She realized she'd gotten distracted and went back on target. "Lucky it wasn't the bakery where the ~red~ was. I guess you didn't see but I did stop by to check on you. It was that old burned down pub. All those... Motorbikists?" she was pretty sure the word was wrong, but close enough. "Bloodstones. The ones you told me about. They were all there. We'll I don't know if it was all. Oh! But Desmond was. He is kinda cute." Her cheeks flashed a bit ~red~ but there was no mystic influence there.

"Then oh man! A ~badger~ came through! Wait." Badger was in Iverian and she realized she didn't know the Lutetian word. She looked over at Re as she walked. "How to say ~badger~? Like a weasel but with big muscles and claws. Real mean. I have seen--"

She collided with something, hard. She was bigger than a lot of the people around here, so she was surprised when she was the one that ended up on the ground after, the other left standing.

They appeared to be a man with darker skin and fluffy white hair. They were standing near a sign and had apparently not moved since the collision.

Margot blushed again. "Oh man, I'm sorry," she offered from the ground.

Said person had been glaring at a sign that kept changing the words that were on it, each had an entirely different font and Kóri was getting nervous because WHAT did it mean?? It had to be important to be so flashy, right?. With ripped pants and a dirty hoodie, they had both looked and felt better in other moments of their life. But they had not slept at Thorje's home and they were skipping work. Soooo... well. What he heck was this sign hiding?.

Huh?

They felt someone sort of bump into them and heard the poor girl fall over, bags and all, and they turned to look at her and her companion.

"Ow?" That would have hurt, right?. Like, to have fallen over she may have run into them a bit hard. "Sorry" They whispered next, leanind down a bit and offering the fallen girl a hand to help her get back up. When they got closer, their nose revealed a very interesting fact that made Kóri grin.

"Oh!!, you smell like wolf!"

Re listened closely, while she watched almost everything else around them. It was just habit of hers in large crowds to keep an eye out on her surroundings. She would gently provide the correct word in Lutetian if she knew the word. "Motorcyclists, the Bloodstones do tend to favor motorcycles for a mode of transportation." She added.

She hadn't been looking in front of them. "A weasel with big- Watch--!!" Re turned right as Margot bumped into the individual who looked ready to fight a sign.

For the briefest of seconds, Re looked murderous. But her composure was quickly regained as she realized it was truly just an accident and this person didn't seem to have ill will towards them.

"Ah Margot! Are you okay?!" She ran behind and tried to help lift Margot. It did not help her friend was pretty much a foot taller than her. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry I'm sorry! I should have been paying attention--"

She gave Kori a look. ".. You can smell us?" For whatever reason, it hadn't occurred to Re or perhaps because she had been surrounded by werewolves since she turned that they had a particular scent that was different than normal. Huh. Neat She thought.

"~I'm fine!~ I'm fine!" Margot assured Re, first responding in Iverian and then repeating it in Lutetian. With her friend's help and the offered hand from the stranger, she quickly regained her feet. She dusted herself off and inspected her new dress for damage; there wasn't any damage she could see, but it was a bit dirty. "Oh, man..." she muttered, and as Re commented on scents, Margot's eyes flashed and the dirt she was able to see faded from the fabric. She then returned to the conversation the other two were having.

"You can't smell it Re? I smelled it on that Bloodstone Draaven when I first came in. I couldn't smell it on you when we first met because of bread smell and I was soooo hungry, but I can smell it now. And on this guy too. But... it's not right. Wolf-but-not-wolf. Actually reminds me a little bit of the muscle-weasel, actually. But he smelled of dark magic and... well, Iveria, too. Those kind of took priority."

She looked them over a in detail. "You are quite big for Lutetia," she commented. "And quite dirty, but that seems to be normal here. Oh, man. I will clean you up." Personal boundaries weren't really a thing in her pack's culture, and she wanted the filth gone. So, without asking them for permission, her eyes flashed again and the dirt vacated their hoodie. "Much better!" she said, beaming with pride as she clapped for herself.

With the way they were looking at them, and how concentrated they were, if Kori had been a fox their ears would have been pointed right towards the two girls. They were glad that Margot and Re, as they had referred to each other, were both fine. Kóri wasn't that much of a brick wall that running into them would cause a lot of damage anyway. They noted that somehow these two also knew a bloodstone! But a different one. Kori knew Lark and Xandre, the latter just a little bit.

"I am a snow fox! And I'm not guy, just person- ah!" Their eyes widened and they did a very funny tiny jump backwards. Then stayed very, very still for a second. When Margot magically cleaned her dress. And then their hoodie!!.

"Oh my god you're magic!! That's so fucking cool???" They exclaimed in their village's aanaran dialect. They looked around themself noting how clean the hoodie was, and grinned. Margot's enthusiasm was contagious.

"Thank you very much!!" They said, returning to their broken Lutetian.

Re shook her head. "I guess I never noticed. I was human before not too long ago, and I was always surrounded with other werewolves. Then the bakery always smells like bread and weed.." She murmured. "I guess I'm not able to tell the difference because it is all I know." She shrugged slightly.

Even though Margot had already magicked the dust and dirt off her new clothes, Re went about trying to straighten the wrinkles (although there were very few).

She couldn't understand the snow fox's language any more than she could understand Margot's Iverian. But they were loud enough to cause attention. Re grimaced, putting her finger over her lips. "Shhh shhh, not so loud please." She pleaded.

Being loud in her country was tantamount of giving away your position and signing your death warrant. It was much less of a problem here, but old habits died hard when you were born into them.

"I've never met a snow fox though. My name is Re, and this is my friend Margot. It is a pleasure to meet you."

"I am glad that you like it! Cleaning things was one of the first things I learned how to do. It is not the most useful thing, but oh, man it makes washing pans at the bakery a lot easier!" She got swept up in Kori's excitement. "I can do more too! I can float things, change things, make fire appear. When I'm a wolf," she said "wolf" at a lower volume, mindful of Re's admonishments, "I can even make myself faster or stronger or tougher. But Re says to not do too much magic in the open because people don't like it."

"I've never seen a snow fox before, much less one that could become a human. I have seen red foxes." She looked closely at Kori's hair. "I imagine you look a lot like that but with white hair instead of red? You must be very cute! You must show me sometime." She leaned in close, keeping her voice down. "But not now, Re says humans don't like wolves that much and I don't think they'd like foxes either." She held a finger up to her lips and looked pensive for a moment. "Humans are kind of boring now that I think about it."

She shook out of her reverie after hearing Re introduce the pair to Kori. Margot realized she'd never gotten something important. "It's great to meet you! What is your name, snow fox?"

"sorry, sooryy" Said Kóri, whispering back at Re when she told them both to lower their overly enthusiastic volume.

As they continued talking, Kóri listened attentively and messed with their snakebite piercings with their tongue. A habit they'd picked up from wearing said piercings, that they tended to do when they were idle.

"My name Kóri. And this is fox me." They added, after Margot said she had never seen a snow fox. They took out their phone and showed the girls the videos on their instagram account where they appeared as a snow fox, wearing a variety of little hats. A lot of people liked them.

"It is a pleasure to meet, Kori!" She smiled at them. She watched picture after picture of Kori as a snow fox, her expression of awe on her face. "Awwwww! You're absolutely adorable and so cute!!!" She said, her voice going to those pitches that people use when seeing a cute puppy or kitten.

"Oh my goodness, I'd just want to snuggle you forever and ever! Wouldn't you, Margot?!" She said, leaning against her friend.

Margot almost didn't register her friend's comment, her eyes growing wide as she looked at the phone. First, the device itself set her mind into motion; she'd seen Draaven use something like it and she decided she had to have one. But then when she looked past the device (or into it, in this case), to the pictures being displayed, she emitted a high-pitched squeal, which she couldn't help and couldn't stop. She held her hands up to cover her mouth to attempt to stop making that sound, but it only served to muffle it. "OH MY GODS! You are so cute!"

Finally able to control her vocal chords, she squeezed Re as she leaned against her. "We need a fox. And hats. And fox hats." She used one hand to pat her extremely thick mane, barely pulled back against her head. "I should buy a hat too. But a big hat. To match your little fox hats!"

"Thankyous!" Said Kóri with a laugh of their own. Being baby voiced and cutesied' over was less fun when they were actually there as it was happening. But it was a common reaction amongst outsiders and people who weren't used to foxes in general. Plus it was a thing Kóri themself was totally exploiting for views. So... yeah, they had to deal with it.

"You with hat will be cute as fuck too, for sure, for sure. Both of you." They said with a little wink. If there was something they'd learned before coming to Lutetia, it was how to say certain words. And their meeting with AJ the day before had reminded them of how freely they could use the word.

"I trying to find clothes, this my only clothes. I can't read signs well, help me?" They added at the end, hoping the hat videos had been cute enough to persuade the girls to lend them some of their time.

Re laughed joyfully at Margot, who reminded her a lot like her younger sister. It was a bitter sweet feeling. "Okay okay, we can see about getting a hat too." She relented, chuckling.

Kori themselves had also hit a soft spot on Re's list. It seemed Lutetia had a knack of picking up foreigners who were starting new lives. She would need to temper her desire to help them all at some point, but today was not that day. She offered a hand out to them with a smile. "Sure, we can help. We were shopping for clothes for Margot too. I'm assuming you're looking for everything too? Anything particular, like fashion, that you're looking into?"

"Yes, come with us, Kori! Re is good at shopping for clothes. She helped me pick this out!" She gave a twirl, which spun the skirt of her dress up into a disc of emerald fabric. The maneuver did briefly flash the Lutetians a brief glimpse at her modest underwear, but if that bothered Margot, she didn't show it.

"Re is the best! She can help with anything!" She didn't have much else to add on the subject of fashion... Well, outside the realm of flowy dresses. So while Re started to figure out what Kóri was looking for, she bent over and picked up her bags that she'd dropped in the collision. One bag had torn a little bit at a seam, but a flash of crimson and it was good as new.

She twirled as she waited, letting the skirt and bags alike spin outward, a grin on her face.

Luckily, Kóri knew exactly what they wanted. They liked street wear and techy styles, with some military inspired accents, pleather and metal here and there. Sadly, what they liked the most, they knew they couldn't afford to buy right now.

"Dress Is very pretty, good style" Said Kóri to Re. "Girl wearing it, pretti-er." They added, watching Margot twirl in a little spiral of green and a very short flash of white that made Kóri snort. Freedom, alright?. Their only concern was she might get light headed or nauseous from so much twirling around. But as long as she didn't fall over...

They showed some old pictures of themself to Re so she could see what they tended to dress like. In cargos, boots, short skirts and tight tops. All very modern, black, white, gray and usually a single accent of colour per outfit.

Re blushed slightly at Margot's compliment. "I do my best, but I'm not able to help everyone or everything. Just some things. Also please be careful Margot, you're going to make yourself sick spinning so much."

Re nodded quietly, watching all the pictures and taking note which ones would more than likely be together in what stores. "Yeah, that should be easy to find." She admitted. "I usually go for cargos myself, so I know where those are." She murmured, thinking.

"Alright, I think its best we go down this way, I think you're going to get the most out of this store. We can go with you to make sure you find it alright." She offered her hand to Kori, smiling warmly up at them.

A bit surprised by the offered hand, Kóri leaned down veeery lightly to discreetly sniff close to her hand before they took it, and held it, and stood back up to their full height. Then nodded.

"Cargo pants are best pants." They said to Re with a grin, walking with her to the shop she had said would have most what Kóri would need. The city had so many options!! Back at the village they would have had to import or customize a lot of their clothes to make what they liked the most.

Margot paused in her rotary endeavors when she heard Kori call her pretty. With a slight blush and an exuberant, "Thank youuuu!" she continued to twirl, more excitedly than before. That was, at least, until Re chided her, and she stopped. She looked over at Re, or tried to; her friend kept moving around and she couldn't focus her eyes on her. She shook her head until the dizziness cleared, and softly said, "Sorry."

The conversation seemed to turn towards cargo pants, which Margot was familiar with from Re's wardrobe.

She remained bashful for a moment, until Kori and Re took hands. Not to be outdone, she closed the distance and reached for Kori's other hand as she asked, "Do they make cargo dresses? All those pockets look fun. I have no pockets. I should have pockets. But I want to wear dresses."

Re nodded in agreement with Kori. "Agreed. Very versatile. I also get the ones that will zip occasionally. Especially useful if I need to wear longer pants than shorts." She waited until Kori held Margot's hand too before leading the group from the side.

"There are dresses with pockets. But I don't think they have dresses with as many pockets as cargo pants. There are also aprons, similar to the ones I wear at work. Aprons can have lots of pockets too and lay well on dresses." Re explained. "I also think we can maybe sew pockets on your dresses if you'd prefer-- Though I'm not that great at sewing clothes.

Sewing people was a whole different skill altogether, she thought.

Happy to walk with two pretty girls holding their hands, Kóri nodded along with what Re was saying. It made sense for Margot to want dresses with pockets. Sadly, she was about to discover that fast fashion had made an enemy out of pockets in clothes made for women. Kóri had the conspiracy theory that the people who made pants and skirts were in a disgusting alliance with the ones that made handbags. And it worked well enough for all of them when people needed to carry bags because they had no pockets.

"Sewing? I sew. I change a lot of my clothes so they fit. And give pockets." Said Kóri with a smile, happy to be of use since they were both helping them already. The shop wasn't far and it didn't take them long to get there. Now it was a matter of seeing if they could get a couple of things within their budget. After all, a certain friend would providing them with a few more pieces of clothing soon enough. Including new, multi-terrain running boots
