Smugglers Cove (Love2write and Silence)

They were at odds on this one and Killian knew it. He couldn't help feeling a little stressed. Maybe it was wrong to kill people like he intended but, he couldn't let them just keep on doing what they were. Eventually both of them got up and walked silently back to the house. In many ways her silence bothered him more than having her oppose him outright. Mostly it was due to the fact that he knew where she stood and a silent opposition as upsetting.

Mike glanced at Star after she walked in behind Killian. Didn't look like it had gone well for him and then seeing Star only confirmed that it wasn't necessarily a good thing. He couldn't very well go play referee for them both so he left it alone for now. Eventually one of them would come ask for help if they were serious. Personally he was hoping Killian would be the one to ask for help. In fact he wouldn't be surprised if Killian needed help besides his horrible relationship tactics. Couldn't help someone who didn't want it.

Anna walked into the room to see Kato doing his funny little exercises and stretches. "Oh I'm feeling very good. How is my heavyweight?" Grinning a little at her new nickname for him she stood by the edge of the bed and kissed him. "So what do you suppose we could do for our guests here? Been trying to think of something to get them out of the house and do something enjoyable. Mike has been running away almost all night every night and he's still sleeping today." Almost soon as she finished saying it her eyes lit up. "Maybe we should all go out to the carnival. They've got all those rides." Racing back out of the room she got onto her ordering pad and got a few bracelets for the rides. Almost running back into the room she yelled with enthusiasm. "Kato do you wanna go too?!"

*********************************************************************

It had been a few days of quiet and Killian still didn't know what to do when he got a knock on his door. Anna was handing him two bracelets that had been delivered to the door. "Take one to Star!" Peering down the hallway after her disappearing form he frowned and stared at the bracelet. It had something written on the sides and he didn't know what it said. Shrugging he walked to her door and knocked. "Hey I got something that Andy said to give to you."

When Star stepped out he handed her one of the bracelets. "What the hell is this about anyway? You know what that says?" Pointing to the letters he listened to her and shook his head. "Never been to one. You?"

"A carnival? Sure. Sounds fun. Warning...I'll probably be moving a little slow." Kato said in response to Anna's question. It did sound fun. He'd never been to one before.

Star raised an eyebrow at Killian as he handed her the bracelet. "Uh, its for a Carnival. Rides, acrobats, stuff like that." She shrugs as he asks if she'd been. "Yeah, one or two. There's lots of noisy things though, sudden noises too and music and games. Just so you know. It might be a bit chaotic...that ok?"

*********************************

Clearly the carnivals in this system had been influenced by humans, because the majority of what they saw was very similar to Earth's carnivals. There were rides, games, exotic animals, treats, shows, music and more. Star was holding onto Killian's arm as they entered. Partially because he was her date, and partially because she was nervous about losing him and not being there if something triggered him.

Killian scowled. "Of course its fine. How chaotic could it be?" Unsnapping the bracelet he struggled to get it on himself. After a moment he held his hand out to Star and let her snap it on. However, she accomplished it by herself he didn't know. Women had strange skills and he couldn't figure most of them out. Some of them being how they got into their dresses with those zippers. He wouldn't be able to pull a zipper up if it was along his back like that.

When they got close to the carnival Killian peered out the window of the ship. It was certainly an odd looking event and the lights were exciting to say the least. He'd remembered seeing something close to that except it was at the brothel with the ladies show. Somehow he found it highly doubtful that Andy, Star, and Kato would go someplace like that. Mike would. Stepping out of the ship he offered his arm to Star. The two of them walked toward the entrance and then he started to see what she meant by chaotic. Killian started to tense as he looked to the side. Then someone bumped into his back and he turned sharply. People were everywhere and he wasn't sure that he liked it. "What sort of stuff do you do here?"

Sounded like they were supposed to be getting in a line and wait to jump on a ride. Killian nodded nervously and got into a line with Star. He started to curl his shoulders instinctively when someone stepped up behind them. They were surrounded and he just watched carefully.

Happily dragging behind with Kato, Anna pointed out the Ferris Wheel. "That's my favorite. You wanna try?" She knew it was a short distance from where they were and it would be a good starting point. Looking ahead she saw that Killian and Star were already in a line. "There a reason you're watching them like a hawk?" Energetically she pulled on his arm as gently as her excitement would allow. "Maybe we should go to the house of mirrors." It was always fun to see if she could get through the maze.

Killian was doing his best to relax and they got on the first ride. Scrunching up to get into the box with Star he grinned at her. Then they shut the lid and the smile faded. Taking a deep breath he held onto the bar on the inside. "Only a few minutes right?" Gradually they started to move up while others loaded in and he could see the lights better. The view wasn't so bad and then they started to turn more quickly. In fact the whole cage was turning circles and then they looked like they were about to crash into the ground. Yelping he squinted his eyes but still watched just out of curiosity. By the second full circle he started to laugh. So far he liked this ride. Getting off the ride he held onto Star's arm and chuckled. "Ok that was good."

It was going fine till a sudden shot sounded. Ducking he pulled Star with him. Standing behind a tent he started to look around anxiously. "You stay down."

So far Killian was doing good. He winced here and there, but mostly managed to stay relaxed. On the ride, she was worried he'd panic but then he began laughing allowing her to relax and enjoy herself, laughing along with him. When they stepped off, she immediatly began pulling him to the next ride when the sound of shooting started. Killian of course panicked slightly and pushed her down. "Killian...Killian look at me. Its a game, alright? Just a game. They have shooting games here. You can earn prizes." She grabbed his hand and stroked his arm to help him calm down.

Of course Kato was worried. He'd given Star a sedative just in case Killian went wild. It was a bit soon to be bringing him to a place like this but...perhaps it would help him heal more. He chuckles as Anna pulled him around eagerly telling him everything she wanted to do. "House of mirrors first, then the wheel..how about that?" He offers, walking her to the house. Having never been in one, he didn't expect the distorted versions of himself as he first walked in. "Whoa..that's trippy." He laughs. Then they hit the maze part. "And that's even tripper?" He turns slowly. "How the heck do you figure out where to go next?"

Clenching his jaw he couldn't help feeling a little skeptical. Just a game? That didn't sound right. Taking a deep breath he nodded and stood up. They were almost to the line at the next place and then the shooting started again. Killian ducked and tried not to let the instinct and fear flood his mind. A hand much to large to be Star's rested on his shoulder and whatever the man said he didn't know. Rising suddenly Killian made a fist and about hit the man before he remembered where he was. Pushing the man back he growled. "Don't touch me. I'm fine." Almost cringing with the sound of the gun he was determined to go on the tornado with Star. The two of them sat at a table suspended in the air and the more he turned the table the faster they went in circles.

On the ride it was too loud to actually hear anything else going on and he liked that better. Killian found himself getting gradually more tense as the night went. Between every ride the pop of the gun and people jostling had him wanting to run. Finally he started working his way toward the edge of the field and then they started to light fireworks.

A bench was sitting near the children's games and all the constant little screams started to wear on him too. "Go ahead. I just need a few minutes." Killian glanced at Star. He nodded slightly. "I'll be fine."

*******************************************************************************

Anna giggled at the question of how to get through the mirror maze. "Oh I think if you just keep turning around and bumping into mirrors long enough you'll get out." Taking the lead she ran into a few mirrors till they got to the next corner full of more mirrors. Once they emerged she started to pull him toward the Ferris Wheel. "Then after this one you'll have to pick something."

Star gives him a worried look. "We can leave. I'm getting tired anyway." She offers kindly. There was a nearby bathroom, for which she was glad cause after all the drinks and snacks she needed one. "I'm just going to use the restroom real quick. I'll be right back. Don't move...I don't want to lose you in this crowd." She smiles at him teasingly at him, but she meant more than she was saying. She hurries off to the bathroom, praying nothing spooked him while she was gone.

********************

Kato chuckled as they sat in the Ferris Wheel, snuggling close together, his arm around her shoulder. "Wow..." He breathed as they were lifted up higher, and higher. "This city is actually really beautiful from up here. Kinda wants to make you stay forever." He looks down at her.

It seemed to be taking Star forever. Killian looked up at the fireworks going overhead. He was doing his best not to panic. As badly as he wanted to close his eyes and just try to tune it all out he couldn't do that for the fear of all the people that wandered around. Another blast sounded, but this one sounded like a cannon. Rolling off the bench he crouched on the ground next to it for several seconds and then peered around. With a shaky breath he got to his feet and sat down on the bench again. The longer she took the more worried he got. What if someone kidnapped her? It was so busy here, like the streets nobody would notice. Another shot sounded and he cringed. Finally he couldn't stand it anymore and he stood up. Wandering a few feet from the bench he tried to catch sight of Star. Looking back at the bench he winced. Probably should wait a few more minutes. Reluctantly Killian returned to the bench and waited for a while longer.

Star should have been coming any minute now. Nervously rubbing his hand he finally lost his patience and got up. He'd waited long enough. Something went wrong. Wasn't like he was a kid you had to worry about and he was tall enough she should be able to spot him easy enough. First place he figured he could go was in the direction he saw her. In a few minutes he would circle back to the bench to check for her.

**********************************************************************************************************

A broad grin came to Anna's face. "Well you can stay here forever." Scooting a little closer on the bench she kissed him. "How exciting do you want it to get tonight when we get home?" So far there wasn't any reason to hurry the night along unless he was getting tired. "You know I think its gone pretty well...My idea of a date." Plucking at the pocket on the front of his jacket she smirked. "Even packed something special if you care to take a look."

Star was washing her hands when a figure came up behind her grabbing her hair and yanking her back. She yelped and throwing her fist around to attack her attacker. The woman caught it pinning her arm behind her back. "I can't believe it. You're the pet worth 200,000 credits." The bounty hunter shakes her head in amazement. "I didn't even have to go looking for you, you just walked straight up to me." She laughs. Star reaches into her pocket pulling out the sedative Kato had gotten her. The woman wrenches her head back a little further, and pushed her arm up until she yelped. "If you're here...then that Chip you tamed must be close by too." The bounty hunter whispers in her ear. "Where is he?"
Star didn't say anything as her fingers slowly worked off the cap to the sedative.
The Bounty hunter growled pinning her into the wall. She released Star's hair and spoke on a communicator. "Hey, I got the Tamer in the bathroom. That chip is around here somewhere. Keep an eye out. Use the heavy tranqs."
The bounty hunter clapped one hand in a cuff and moved to restrain the other. Star twisted and stabbed the tranq into the bounty hunter's neck then sprinted out of the bathroom.
"Killian!" She screamed. She doesn't see killian but she does see another bounty hunter with a gun aimed at a figure in the distance. She didn't have time to see if he was lined up on Killian. She sprints and tackles him, causing the gun to fire off kilter. He scrambles to his feet, hitting her hard in the head with the butt of the gun and looking quickly to realign the shot before the beast could attack him and break his neck.
*************************************************

"Oh?" Kato looks down, and reaches into his pocket. A small bag of pills appear in his hand with another object that he recognized as a condom pouch. He gasps in horror as it slips past his fingers drifting onto the lap of an unsuspecting couple below. He flushes bright red and the girl below him gasps in horror as the other boy picks it up, he too turning bright red. They both glance up as Anna begins laughing in hysterics, causing Kato to be even more embarrassed than he already was, if that was even possible.

Anna's jaw dropped slightly when the condom package slipped out of Kato's hand. She hadn't really intended for him to let it float off. Peering over the edge with him she saw the couple below turn bright red and involuntarily she started to laugh. "Ummm....Be safe!" Sitting straight once more she couldn't help laughing. For Kato's sake Anna tried not laugh too much more. Her entire body convulsed with giggles and her face turned red before she finally had to let it out. Even while she was laughing she kissed him. They had to break the kiss a bit early cause she was making her little hyena chuckles. "That was awkward." Peering over the edge at the other couple she busted out again. By the time the ride was done Anna was sure that Kato would almost rather be a monk. "Don't worry you won't quite feel that way when we get home."

****************************************************************************************

A man nearby crumpled to the ground with a needle sticking in his shoulder. Killian dropped to the ground. Whoever it was would have to work a little longer to get to him. Crawling over to the edge of a stand he began peeling the wood molding from the corner. The Chippequoti watched carefully from his place. Anytime now the one with the gun would be advancing. Breaking the edge of the molding at an angle produced a sharp edge. It was the best he was going to get for a weapon at this point. Working his way to the front of the stand he crouched till the man with the gun came into view.

Springing from his place Killian thrust the wood into the man's stomach. An agonized scream sounded from the bounty hunter. Killian quickly put his hand over the bounty hunter's mouth and twisted his neck. The maze of legs almost blocked his view of Star. She was pushing herself off the ground. Running in a crouch he picked her up off the ground. A sharp stabbing pain went into his back and he winced. "C'mon." There wasn't anyplace that he could immediately hide except the house of mirrors. Dodging inside with Star he pushed one of the Mirrors out of line and shoved her behind it. "Shhh...." Holding a finger to his lips he motioned for her to be quiet and then pulled it back in place. Keeping his eyes fixed on the floor he worked his way part way into the maze until his reflection would be everywhere he wasn't and only one of them would be right.

The trick was to keep gazing at the floor so he wouldn't make the same mistake as whoever the last person was after them. Only a few minutes later he could hear the gasping for air and the heavy foot steps. They were trying to be cautious as they came into the maze. Just at the corner Killian could see a boot. Then the shattering of glass sounded and he reached around the corner to grab the figure. Smashing the man's face into the glass he pulled the man toward himself and took hold of his neck. Putting him in a headlock he started to add pressure and then the man brought a knife up and stabbed his arm. Killian growled and held on tight and forced the man's head at a sharp angle.

Pulling the knife from his arm Killian was glad he wore a dark jacket to hide it for the time. Shoving a mirror out of place he wandered behind the scenes in the dark till he ran into Star. "We need to find Anna and Kato."

**************************************************************************

Since they were about done for the night Anna walked with Kato over to the food court. It was where they said they would meet Star and Killian at the end of the night. There was no telling how long those two would be or if they would already be there. Oddly a bunch of emergency vehicles started to arrive and she stood up. "Oh my gosh." So far there was a count of 3 bodies. Instinctively she knew it was the other two. "We need to find them before anyone else."

Star staggered slightly as he pulled her to feet and helped her out of the house of mirrors. A trickle of blood ran down her cheek from what would soon be a large bruise near her eye. "He found us...Kafus' bounty hunters...they found us." She says fearfully as she holds onto him.

Kato grabs Anna's arm before she could rush off. "Wait, I see them." Star and Killian were rushing towards them, both with various injuries. "What ha..."
"Bounty hunters. They found us." Star was pale and frustrated. "God..no matter where we go. Every system...we're hunted."
"C'mon." Kato hurries with them out of the carnival, their fun day coming to a rapid and unhappy close.

**********************************

Star borrowed a pair of scissors from Anna and cut her hair as close to her head as possible. No more! She threw a clump of hair on the ground angerily. No more having my hair used against me! She threw down another clump, and another. She didn't care if it looked horrible by the time she was done. She just didn't want anything left to grab onto.

She rinsed the excess hair off in the shower and spiked what remained of her brown locks. It wasn't much. She'd been very violent and purposeful about it. She changed and rubbed some of the bruising cream around the black bruise that had formed around her eye. I'm getting so sick of this. Maybe Killian has the right idea after all...

She trots to Killians' room to check on him. Apparently he'd been injured in few places. She knocks on his door. "Killian? Its Star. Can I come in?"

Anna nodded to them and quickly got the ship opened up in the back for them to load. "I'll drive." While she wasn't the best pilot she could get places fast if they needed. Stopping the ship near the front she let them all unload and then whizzed past with the ship. After she put her little ship to bay she started to walk home though she kept a weary eye in the even that she saw anything unusual.

************************************************************************

Immediately when they got to the house Killian walked to his room. Pulling the jacket off he winced. It was rubbing against his arm the whole way and his shirt had stuck to his back where he'd been cut. First he started with picking dirt and chunks of glass out of his arm and the wound. Then before the shirt got stuck to his back anymore seriously he peeled it off.

Already the blood started to run down his back. Killian grabbed a hand towel and stuffed it into the back of his pants to catch the blood. Now that he had a chance to wash his arm out he started with the rinsing and dumping soap into the stab wound. It didn't bleed much and that was concerning. That made it more likely to get an infection. While he squeezed and pushed it a knocking sounded on his door. "Yeah you can come in." Poking his head around the bathroom wall he yelled at the doorway. Killian returned to washing his arm. No matter that it was just over a month since he left the games there was still bruising that covered his back and parts of his arms. When she stepped into view he glanced over at her. "You alright?"

***************************************************************************************

There wasn't anything on the way home that Anna could see. Thankfully Star and Killian had the shades on their rooms closed. Last thing they needed was for someone to figure that's where they were and come charging in to kill them. Inside the house she met with Kato. "Well that wasn't as planned. How is everyone?" Nodding a little she listened to him. "Need me to tell everyone to come down here if they need checking on?" She knew that Kato wasn't quite feeling up to walking the stairs yet.

Star's forehead knit together slightly at the old bruises and scars marking him. "Yeah...just a tender eye. Looks like you got the brunt of it though. She grabbed a clean washcloth and gently helped clean the wound on his back. "I'm sorry you got attacked again because of me..." Her free hand softly traced one of the many scars. "This needs stitches. Do you want me or Kato to do it?"

Kato glanced up the stairs with a light sigh. "If they need me, they'll get me." He wraps one arm around her waist while leaning on his cane with the other. "Sorry our fun outing got cut short. If its still going tomorrow though, we could probably leave the troublemakers here and just go ourselves again. Except...no condoms in the pocket this time. Hmm?" He says with a flush coming to his face.

Nodding he figured that Star was alright. It looked like she might get a black eye from the hit. Killian winced slightly when she pressed the washcloth into his back and started to clean the wound. "Not your fault they attacked." Looking at his arm again he was about ready to dump more soap in it when she ran the washcloth over the wound in his back again and this time it felt like half his back was going to peel off with it. "Owe!" Glaring at her over his shoulder he listened to the suggestion for stitches. "I'd rather you do it." At least she would try to be gentle and half the time Killian swore that Kato didn't care.

The arm Kato would have to look over. "I'll just sit on the tub and you do what you have to." Killian held a towel over his arm and curled his back so that Star could get to it. He winced slightly whenever her finger brushed over some of the bruises and the scars. A few of them didn't hurt a much as the others, but the majority were still uncomfortable. When she was done tracing she started to get to work. "Thank you." Turning his head he tried to look at her and instead his face was pushed away so she could see better.

"They tried to beat me into submission a few times. Started working after a while." Lowering his head he sighed. "Didn't matter what I did they would hit me if they wanted, beat me till I passed out if I wouldn't do what they said and then I would end up doing it anyway. There wasn't much point in resisting after a while." Wincing he felt her pull a stitch through. "You almost done?"

*********************************************************************************************

Anna grinned at Kato. "We should go again." At the mention of the condom she couldn't help giggling. "The looks on their faces." Just because she felt like being naughty she snickered. "Oh I had it packed in case we decided to get freaky at the carnival. I guess I'll take freaky tonight at home." Sneaking a hand between them she ran it up to his chest. "You feel a little tighter through here. Are the bones really getting so heavy that you're toning up?"

Star listened to Killian quietly, nodding as he opened up to her about what had happened as she stitched up his back with soft fingers. "I'm almost done." She replies quietly to him, lost in thought. "Kafus used to shock me everything I didn't call him master or spoke out of turn or did anything he didn't like. Like you said...there comes a point where pride doesn't matter over survival and pain." She knots off the stitch, and is about to put a bandage over the wound when she pauses. "Uh, I'll wait and put the bandage on till after you've had a chance to shower. You kinda stink." She chuckles.
************************
"It feels that way, yes." Kato nods. He holds up an arm where the muscles were already beginning to bulge slightly. He stretches out his hand. Even his hand muscles mass had increased. He was beginning to wonder what it would take to break a bone at this point. He knew Killian could drop ten feet with ease and survive a bullet to the head. He doubted he'd be that resilient though. "Hmmm, I didn't mind not having definitive muscles...but it seems I will gain some anyway from simply moving. I hope you don't mind the well-built body." He smiles teasingly at her. He knew she didn't, but truthfully all the changes were making him a bit nervous as he wondered what else was happening to his body and it helped to take them lightly.

Killian didn't like to know what Kafus did. It only made him feel more angry, but he knew she needed someone to talk to. By the pulling and pulling Killian guessed that she was getting ready to tie the knot off. Finally it was over. Stitches did oddly enough feel good instead of just letting the wound gape. "Hmmm...I stink huh?" Standing up inside the tub he turned around and grinned. "What if I just...never mind. I'll be out in a few minutes." Removing the towel from his arm a little bit of blood started to bubble up to the surface. "Probably need Kato to look at that one." The sound of the door closing sounded and he turned his head. Of course Star was going to leave him alone for this part. She was the one person he wouldn't have minded being there and one of the first to always give him space in that way.

After the shower Killian wrapped a towel around himself and stepped into the room. He scrambled into his clothing fast as he could to avoid dripping blood everywhere. The only thing that Killian put on for now was a pair of boxers and some pants. Wandering across the hall to Star's room he knocked a few times and then stepped in. "You wanna finish patching that up back there?"

While she pulled out bandages he held onto the tape for her. Taking a small strip he used some of the tape to hold the towel on his arm in place and then continued getting little chunks ready for Star. Holding one strip up he smirked. "You know I had a good thought. Just surviving and being together is enough to prove that they failed and I still want to take it one step further. We need to make that fleet. Killing folks is negotiable. I didn't like what I had to do tonight." He'd gotten too good at it to be comfortable with the idea. So many little things had turned into weapons and he barely had to think.

*******************************************************************************************************************************

Running her hands over Kato's chest again Anna shook her head. "Ooh I don't think I'll mind too much. Is the pain at least fading? We all remember growing pains as kids and some of the muscle cramps but, this is like growing pains on steroids." A little concern came to her mind. "How much do we know about the Chippequoti? It's in your bones now and your blood....does that mean if we have children they would have some of the same qualities? If it's just a synthesized response will it carry on or not?" There were so many questions that started to run through her mind.

Anna wanted Kato to be alive very much, but she wasn't sure at what cost they had bought a longer life for him. "I'd ask Killian but, he doesn't seem to know very much about himself. Maybe there is a doctor around here that knows more about the Chippequoti or there would be another one who could tell us something about them. I've heard that they've become quite popular and there are many raids made to try and capture them." For once and she never thought she would say this to herself or anyone else she felt bad for them. "I kind of feel bad for them. Such a wild people and to be enslaved like that. Hardly docile but, they want them because they saw Killian and he could take a beating. Its like they try to capture them because they want something to beat."

"I didn't like it much either, but you were right. They'll never stop hunting us if we don't take them down." Star replies, taping on the bandage. "I'd rather them dead than us." She finished, then grabbed the bruising relief cream from off her desk. She gathered a good amount into her hands and tenderly massaged it into Killian's back, being careful not to put too much pressure on any one spot for more than a second or so.
"I still support you in this, Killian. I just want us to do it in a way where neither of us will come away hating ourselves."

***************************************

"The pain is fading, little by little but I don't know how this would affect any potential children." Kato shook his head. Her questions were the exact same ones he'd asked himself. It would be good to have some answers. "Yes...as barbaric as the Chippequoti are...no one deserves to be enslaved or experimented on." He leans down and kisses her, then touches her cheek. "Don't worry, Anna. We'll figure it out. The doctor who did the bone marrow transplant is coming tomorrow for a follow-up. We can ask him then. For now though..." He takes her hand flushing a bit with an awkward smile. "I don't suppose you have anymore of those surprises." He looked especially red now after the words were out, like he couldn't believe what he'd just insinuated.

Killian took a deep breath while Star reached for some sort of thing on her desk. It was nice to let her rub on his back even when it did hurt. At least it was gentle. Part way through he took a deep breath. "Whoo." She'd found a tender spot. "So uh....Let's just make a deal that we don't kill anyone we don't have to." Wincing a little he squirmed away from her hand. "Not trying to be ungrateful but, that hurts." Standing still once more he let Star finish rubbing the cream in and then he turned toward her. At least his arm was wrapped up so he wouldn't bleed on her. Since she'd been back he barely had the chance to hug her and he'd been afraid to. What if she didn't like it?

Searching her face for a long moment he finally put an arm cautiously around her. "You ok with that?" Killian gradually worked his other arm around her and pulled Star a little closer until she was almost pressed against him. "How about this?" Playfully he craned his neck so that he could kiss her on the lips. "And that?"

*******************************************************************************************

Anna nodded. "Of course he would be a logical person to talk to. I sounded pretty dumb. Gosh." A smirk came to her face. The doctor that did the work had spent his life working on the bone technology and he was excited to just get to see a real Chippequoti. Apparently he'd been collecting data from the Bippens for a while and reading their history. Then it all came crashing to the floor...her thoughts anyway. Looking into Kato's eyes she grinned. "Oh I've got a whole box of them. You can stare at them as long as you like. I'd rather planned on using the surprise though." Seeing him blush was almost priceless and she giggled. "C'mon lets go get some surprises."

********************************************************************************

The doctor found that his patient and the partner were full of questions. From the sounds of it their Chippequoti didn't know much about himself and that was exciting in a way. He could study a Chippequoti or at least ask him questions to see if being raised separately from the people had an affect on their process of thought or if they were more or less volatile. This one had seemed to be quite docile compared to many but, the accounts of him being in the Killing Fields indicated otherwise. Did they just have a stronger instinct to survive? Survival was brutal.

Anna peered at the doctor after a few moments. "What about children? Would they have denser bones?"

"They might. I don't know what kind of personality the child will have. From all accounts the Chippequoti children are strong but, the full bloods don't walk till their 5 years old. Bones are too heavy for the toddlers to do anything besides crawl or drag themselves on the ground. Horrendous little brutes from all record as well. Growing pains have them quite irritable until they are near 14 then it subsides and they grow more slowly until almost 24." Looking at Kato he paused for a moment. There was another question and one that he needed to think about.

Star began to giggle as he pulled her closer, checking with her with each new level of contact. "Yes...mhm...that's good." She'd responded and let him kiss her. Part of her regretted the violent removal of her hair. She was beginning to think she wouldn't have minded so much if he began stroking it. He continued to hold her, kissing her and she could feel his heart begin pounding. Hers had too. He'd never pushed her. Not once since their first date. He'd been true to his word as well...never seeking out another woman...all this time. How she loved him for it. "You know..." Her voice caught in her throat and she'd turned bright red. "I'm...uh...pretty sure Anna has some uh, protection...in her room...if...if you want."

Kato sat next to Anna, holding her hand tightly. "I can't imagine my children suffering through this..." He says solemnly. No child should have to suffer that. Perhaps the Chippequoti were stronger that way than humans...but how cruel would it be bring children into this world that suffered the same...and were forever rejected for not being 100% human. He stared at his knees sternly. "They wouldn't be fully human...and they'd be forced to watch their future mates age away while they remained the young and vital." Like Killian and Star. She still hadn't had the treatment, she'd still age and wither away within the next 50 years. "They'd be outcast."

He looked up. "And me? My bones are already thickening...what other side effects should I expect?"

A slight grin came to Killian's face. "Nothing to turn red about. I'll just sneak in there and out again before anyone knows it." Walking down the stairs casually he peered about and saw that Anna and Kato were still talking in the living room. Stepping just inside of Anna's room he grabbed a few out of the box. Odd that she kept them so close to the doorway....and he didn't even want to know why. Killian stuffed them into his jean pocket and about that time Kato and Anna were coming around the corner.

Anna's eyebrows raised slightly. "You need something?"

Shaking his head he answered. "Nope I got it."

"What about your arm?" That was something that she noticed.

"Uh..." Killian didn't know what to tell her except the truth. "Well I'll take care of that later. Needed a few of these." Pulling a condom out of his pocket he shrugged. A frown came to his face when he noticed how red Kato was getting. "Nothing to get embarrassed about". Giving the one in his hand to Kato he chuckled. "Just in case you need it." Next stop was the kitchen and Killian grabbed two glasses of water and a few snacks. It might be better to relax for a bit before doing this. Seemed a little sudden for Star to decide even if it had been a long time waiting. Last thing he needed was to lose her and he still had that nagging little comment in the back of his head. Arriving in the room again he set the tray of stuff on the bed. "Don't want you to feel rushed."

The doctor sighed. "Well I wouldn't say that they'd be outcast. How well is the Chippequoti you have now integrating? You all thought he was human until you knew otherwise." Granted that was because he was in a system that was not aware of the Chippequoti. "The children may live longer, but the influence of Chippequoti in them would maybe enhance their lives by 50 years. It is already diluted in your system and would be even more so in theirs. I wouldn't discourage you from children if that is an ambition."

So far it seemed that the doctor was concerned about some the side effects on himself. "I'm not really sure. You're the first patient I've had opportunity to test this on. My guess is that you'll possibly live longer. Maybe not, it can't reverse all the damage that your body has already suffered. You may live out the rest of your life relatively healthy. There are some things that we don't know yet." Getting up he held a stethoscope to Kato's chest. "Your heart seems to be working harder than usual. That may pass with time. It is a sign of distress but, have you had any of the pains lately?" Seemed that he had and the doctor smiled. "Well then that explains it all. What else are you concerned about?"

Killian's hunch about giving her a chance to relax had been right. She sat on the edge of the bed looking extremely nervous, but there was still a bright smile on her face and in her eyes. She settles into a more comfortable position when he brings the tray of snacks. "Ooh, Chocolate. Perfect." She chuckles, picking up a piece, unwrapping it and popping it in her mouth. Her mouth suddenly twists into a disgusted look and she spits it out into a nearby trash bin. "Oh...I don't know what that is...but, its not chocolate." She gives him a look. "That's cruel, Killian. That's really cruel. Teasing me with chocolate and bringing...whatever that is."

"I guess I'm concerned about how far this growth will go. I'm not built like Killian. But... as you said, I'm your first subject so...you couldn't possibly know. I suppose we'll just keep an eye on things." He smiles over at Andy, squeezing her hand. "Anything else you want to ask, Hun?"
