Prologue
"Welcoming Party"

Everything around you was dark. Frighteningly dark. So dark you wouldn’t even have known you were alive had it not been for the sensation of water dancing across your feet.

Soon, a light shined beneath your feet. You could see the cosmos beneath you, the stars coalescing into a bright blue cosmic pattern.

You could see yourself glowing, and soon stars started to raise around you. If you looked very closely you could see what looked like people in those stars.

Suddenly, booming through your mind, a perky, feminine voice spoke.

"Terribly sorry to do this to you, dearies, but my world’s in crisis, and you’re the only ones who can possibly help,"

It was at that moment that the stars started to separate, a bright blue split the stars leaving only a black void.

"Might wanna hold on tight, this could get nasty,"

You felt yourself get pulled into the void, as with the other stars, and everything started to go upside down.

"Alright, let’s start with the basics," says the voice, clearing her throat, "My name is Alice, nice to meet you all~! Like I said, my world’s in grave danger. It’s being attacked by a force beyond anyone’s comprehension!"

You felt eyes peer down on you. Sinister, jet black eyes.

"She calls herself the Tsaritsa, and none of our magic seems to work on her,"

The eyes began to glow a bright white.

"I don’t know what she wants. She’s somehow cast herself into complete unknowability to even me! And I’m omniscient!"

The glowing eyes split before reforming into seven strange hourglass-looking things.

"But she seems to want these. These are gnoses, they make gods, well, gods,"

Four of them disappear, leaving only three. A teal one in feathers, an orange one with rocks, and a purple one with bolts of electricity.

"She’s taken four already, leaving only three left. It seems hopeless, but you're coming here, and we think outlanders like you can be the ones who finally put her to rest! At least, I hope. I do hope you can fight,"

The three gnoses dissipate, but you feel yourself getting dizzy, and soon the world starts to go black.

"Oh, err, I forgot that universal travel does this," Alice says, her voice suddenly becoming stressed, "Uhh…. Save my world, please! Find the gnoses! Protect the archons! Defeat the Tsaritsa! Please!"

As everything went black, you heard Alice speak one last time.

"Good luck!"

When you all awoke, you found yourselves underneath a tree, resting on large roots and rock formations. Behind the tree, you could see a stream. In front of the tree, a statue of a strange winged person stands tall on a golden pedestal.

Among you, a girl with numbers on her jacket pulls out a switchblade and brandishes it, waving it around wildly.

"What the hell is going on?" the girl says, her words muted and shaky, "Who are you people? What’s going on? What's this sick game?"

Another man some distance away from the girl, more suave if a bit shady, is trying to make sense of the situation.

"Ugh... Floyd, I just had the strangest dream about... stars..." he says, adjusting his hat as he finally seemed to realize what was happening, "What the…"

Underneath the tree, one young boy seems to have not woken up yet. He’s perched up against the trunk of the tree, showcasing a bruise on his forehead that seemed rather fresh, alongside the many scars that lined his small body.

❝ Oh dear... this is a real nasty pickle of a situation I'm finding myself in. ❞ Koyanskaya sighed in defeat after snapping her fingers multiple times, and well, nothing of importance happening as a result. She was at least saved the humiliation from the Foreign God's Apostles and Crypters seeing her like this, unable to use her Self-Manifestation skill to leave this unknown world. So... she was stranded here like a sitting duck for the time being.

❝ Oh no! Someone is downed! ❞ A young girl's voice exclaimed with extreme worry. Near the young boy, Aris was kneeling down and taking a good look at his bruises and scars.

❝ I repeat! Someone is downed and is in need of a revive from a healer quick, before their HP goes down to zero! ❞ Aris cried out, hoping someone would come and help with haste.

The fox lady only shook her head. It didn't take anyone with actual brain cells to realize that they were all strangers to each other, so it would be hard to expect any immediate genuine assistance to be done here. Then again, Koyanskaya figured to not expect much from a literal child like Aris to be remotely useful.

Then to older girl with the switchblade, Koyanskaya greeted the other with an all-too-sweet smile and taking a step towards her, ❝ Hmm~ I'm not sure if I can answer you. I mean, I can, but it's human nature to lash out at unfamiliar faces in all sorts of violent ways. You might cut my skin with that switchblade of yours, and I'll most likely have to defend myself~ ❞

That was a lot for our hero, the Dude. To be fair, he wasn't sure if this wasn't some sort of "acid flashback." He did drop a lot of acid in the sixties, after all. reaching into his pocket, our hero pulls out a lighter, along with a marijuana cigarette. Looking at the group, the dude lights up"

"Anyone else, uh, want a joint? It's a bit of a bummer here, man."

The masked hero finds himself waking up underneath a tree, listening for something recognizable. Lifting hismelf up from the grass, the man in the webbed red and blue uniform looks around; surrounded by complete strangers to his knowledge. The man who had awaken was the Amazing Spider-Man, and he was confused as everyone; but there was one guess in his mind.

"It's gonna be one of those days, is it?" The Wall-Crawler comments as he gazed at the pair who looked confused at his and the others' arrival. "Stuck in a dimension not my own. God, I hope I'm not gonna break down like last time."

TO BE THE KING​

Sougo snapped awake under the shade of an abnormally large tree. Gasping in his sudden awakening, he rubbed his head. He felt as if he had been knocked out by someone--or something. Whatever it was, Sougo wasn't entire sure.

As he stood up, Sougo took in his surroundings. He wasn't in Tokyo anymore, that's for sure. The way the mountains form in the distance, the trees planted around--it's almost as if he's been transported to another world. Pondering that, he then heard someone calling for help.

Causing to look over at the sight of a pair of children--a boy and a girl, no less.

Wanting to help, Sougo approached the children asking for help. Sougo would try to check the child's temperature--after all, that could be a sign that he's alive, right?

Ashe, meanwhile, had just woken up when she heard some woman brandish a knife towards the group that had just woken up. She raised her arms with a yelp as she stood up, the questions posed to her and everyone else.

"Hey now, let's just calm down, and lower the knife." The orange clad Bounty Hunter spoke, raising a brow herself, hearing the mention of a game. "What game? I don't remember any 'game'." She said with a serious glare, now suspicious if this lady is one of Master Albert's cronies. Although most of them were defeated by Ashe--not to mention, she looked different from the humans she used to see--in fact, the same can be said to everyone here. "...This is starting to feel weird." She gulped, now as confused as the woman with the switchblade.

Kiun Prologue: Awaiting Call

The chores were done, the home was secure. There wasn't much for Kiun to do with Takemikazuchi out currently. It seemed that his Master wouldn't be back for a while, though time moved differently in Takamagahara. Kiun resisted the urge to sigh and simply bowed as the man had left.


He was sure that Sekiun would scold him if he was caught slacking at all with the young master out, but all they had to do other than check the defenses were chores.


With Takemikazuchi in the Near Shore, that left him with the rest of the elders, and his subordinates to look over the estate in Takamagahara, and with nothing else to do for now, Kiun decided to sleep.

Waking from what seemed like an odd dream, Kiun sat up and blinked tiredly as he took in his surroundings.

This....was not Takemikazuchi's home in Takamagahara, nor his shrine. How odd. He remembered the voice mentioned something about the gods, it seemed as if the Heavens were in some form of danger...or at least, gods from some other plane.

Upon noticing the young woman waving the switchblade around, Kiun stood and addressed her first and foremost before trying to make sense of this situation.

"Please refrain from waving that about, you may hurt someone who means you no harm." He paused a moment, before adding, "there's also children present." Also what was this about a game?

Atsushi Prologue: Sleeping Tiger

"..."

"...?"

Atsushi was confused. This was a bit overwhelming, especially after finding out the man that had made his early years at that orphanage hell had recently died. Though upon hearing Aris' alarm about the young boy he moved to kneel nearby. Luckily it seemed someone else was also trying to help the children.

"Looks like he bumped his head pretty hard, but, hopefully we'llbe able to help him, though it won't help to panic, alright?" He spoke to Aris calmly. Well, much calmer than he actually felt. He was on the verge of freaking out himself.

[Atomic Knight]

An endless darkness, followed by lights and a coalescing of stars. The souls of Y'shtola and Thancred had been lost for some time, so coming upon such light filled the both of them with a feeling of hope. Neither were strangers to a summons across space and time, so they took to awakening in a new world without much outward fear.

"I can't say I wouldn't mind another chat with that Alice," Thancred said, crossing his arms and eyeing the group around him warily. His eyes peered from behind white bangs, looking particularly world-weary for a man his age. "Rather rude of her to involve us in her personal affairs."

"I think she may have done us a favor," Y'shtola said, walking up next to Thancred. He was surprised to see her and went wide-eyed at the sight of her. Y'shtola only seemed to take the whole matter in stride. "After all, I believe it was not her fault we were ejected from the First. However..." Y'shtola looked around, though she was not seeing much of anything. Her white eyes were an indication of her blindness. Y'shtola instead saw though a different, magical means.

"However?" Thancred questioned, recovered from his surprise.

"This is clearly not the Source either. The aether around us, it does not feel... familiar. Or correct, rather. I don't believe we find ourselves on any world our own at all."

"Wonderful." Thancred let out a sigh. "I tire of being pulled about without my input."

"As do I," Y'shtola agreed. A stern look crossed her face. Before her was nothing short of a puzzle, but at least she was not alone. "... Well then, who do we find ourselves in the company of, I wonder?"

Upon closer inspection, Aris and Atsushi would find that the boy wasn’t in any critical condition. The scars seemed shallow and old, and the bruise seemed to be a simple bump on the head.

Sougo would find that his temperature was nominal and he was breathing, even if it was shallow. The boy weakly tried to swat away Sougo’s hand, seeming to mutter something incomprehensible under his breath.

However, when Ashe inquired about the game and when Kiun mentioned children, the girl’s expression morphed from smug confidence to horror and confusion.

"Children…" she pondered, "Why the hell would they bring children into this!?"

"Thank you for the offer, but I’m afraid I’ll have to pass," the man in the top hat responded to The Dude, holding up a hand in refusal.

His interest turned, instead, to Peter, Thancred, and Y'shtola's comments. Walking up to the three, he responded in an attempt to keep his cool.

"Alice… you had that dream, too? With the stars?" he said to Thancred, adjusting his glasses before clearing his throat. "Apologies for the rudeness, the name’s Azul Ashengrotto, I’m the dorm head of the Octavinelle house at Black Raven College,"

The Web-Slinger looks around, realizing that he indeed wasn't in New York anymore, not even his home universe. Though, he didn't feel his DNA breaking down like last time something like this occurred. The seasoned hero looks down at his gloved hands, blinking behind the lenses of his mask. Then, Spidey lifts his head up, hearing the voice of the man who began talking.

"Alice… you had that dream, too? With the stars?" he said to Thancred, adjusting his glasses before clearing his throat. "Apologies for the rudeness, the name’s Azul Ashengrotto, I’m the dorm head of the Octavinelle house at Black Raven College,"

"Dreams? Stars?" The Wall-Crawler speaks up in curisoity, but realized he hadn't introduced himself yet. "Oh, where are my manners? My folks didn't raise a rude one. The name's Spider-Man," he points to the spider-emblem on his chest. "Now, you can call me Web-Head, Spidey, whatever you think is best. Up to you."

Tilting his head a moment, Kiun frowned as he studied the young woman. He wasn't quite sure how to answer her.

"I assume we all had similar visions before waking up here? From what I'm hearing something involving a girl named Alice." He replied, before a thoughtful look crossed his features.

"She mentioned something about saving the world I believe, but..." he glanced to Aris and the unconscious boy briefly as he trailed off momentarily.

"That's still a rather large burden to put on children, human or otherwise." He concluded in a mumble.

"You mentioned a game earlier? What exactly did you mean?" He pondered aloud.

There was a moment of quiet before he suddenly realized something.

He was easily noticed, something that wasn't particularly easy for residents of the Far Shore when it came to interacting with humans. Taking a moment to take in the surroundings, his god wasn't anywhere near, nor were any other gods or Shinki he knew. Completely unfamiliar land, but he could take a guess that whoever the statue was of, it could possibly be a local deity even if it was one unfamiliar to the Thunder Blade.

Atsushi perked when the boy showed signs of responding, that was good, and it seemed that he wasn't seriously injured, though the wounds were a bit concerning for a different reason.

"He's not seriously injured, which is a relief." The weretiger muttered to himself as his shoulders slumped in his relief.

"He's got..." Sougo was about to say that his temperature was fine, but he was weakly swatted away just before he could, making him yelp out a soft oof as he removed his hand from the child's head. "It's fine, he's just sleeping." Sougo said, scratching his head. "I did, but, uh...Where are we, exactly?" He couldn't help but ask now that more people are present.

"Seriously what are you talking about?"​

Ashe asked, even more confused than before as the knife wielding woman freaked out on the concept of roping children into said game. "You're acting like that game's a big and scary deal--if it was, then the Sage Trinity would've tasked me and Vent to stop that thing already!" She said, hands on her hips as she leaned closer to the woman, getting a bit ticked off by the lack of answers.

X certainly dreamt, of peace, of unity. He certainly never had a dream of an 'Alice.' Awaking underneath a land of life and plants was also a new experience. Usually if he ever ran out of power during a mission, he awoke alone in the same unfamiliar place, or surrounded by a ring of medics. This time, he was surrounded by strangers in an unfamiliar place.

All his instincts told him to withdraw the buster on his arm. But all he had learned these last few wars, was that mavericks struck anytime. As a medium, upon noticing all here seemed to be human, X did not withdraw the buster, but also did not arm it.

"If everyone is alright, could I a-" Even in his confusion, he picked up quickly that everyone was just as befuzzled as he was. "Is everyone here alright? I'll like to know where I am currentl-"

A short human brandished a switchblade. She wasn't dangerous to him, if anything, X could feel her fear. A scared young woman talking some sort of horrible 'game.'. He could sense her horror, disgust, perhaps her situation before had made her into this state. If it was, it certainly broke the very spirit of a game.

He couldn't just sit by and watch. X called out to her as he walked closer while still keeping his distance. He had his arm on his buster, but it was off.

"What sort of game is this that you need a knife? No one here is going to hurt you, and I'm not letting you get hurt either!"

The maverick hunter was going to make sure of that.

Kiun's words seemed to have worked in calming the girl down, she starts to hesitate, putting the knife down, although still brandishing it.

"H-how the hell did you know that...?" the girl said, still reluctant to stand down.

But as more people seemed to question the existence of the game itself, she finally relented, pocketing her knife.

"Fine, I'll tell you..." she said.

"I'm in a lot of debt. The only possible way out I could find was to play a game. Each round we play children's games, like Red Light Green Light or the Dalgona Game, to win a prize of 4.56 billion won. If we lost, we died. And... until this guy here talked about that Alice woman, I thought this was a part of that game,"

His interest turned, instead, to Peter, Thancred, and Y'shtola's comments. Walking up to the three, he responded in an attempt to keep his cool.

"Alice… you had that dream, too? With the stars?" he said to Thancred, adjusting his glasses before clearing his throat. "Apologies for the rudeness, the name’s Azul Ashengrotto, I’m the dorm head of the Octavinelle house at Black Raven College,"

"No problem, man. The offer, uh, is still standing."

Taking a deep puff, the Dude exhaled.

"So, we're like, all dreaming the something? Like, uh, is this some sort of Univeral mind, thing? Like, our very conscious and being are, like, one thing? That's pretty far out, but, um, I didn't, uh, consent to this, man." Looking around the dude shook his head. "Is there at least a bar, man?"

The Web-Slinger looks around, realizing that he indeed wasn't in New York anymore, not even his home universe. Though, he didn't feel his DNA breaking down like last time something like this occurred. The seasoned hero looks down at his gloved hands, blinking behind the lenses of his mask. Then, Spidey lifts his head up, hearing the voice of the man who began talking.



"Dreams? Stars?" The Wall-Crawler speaks up in curisoity, but realized he hadn't introduced himself yet. "Oh, where are my manners? My folks didn't raise a rude one. The name's Spider-Man," he points to the spider-emblem on his chest. "Now, you can call me Web-Head, Spidey, whatever you think is best. Up to you."

Quickly turning his attention to the bearded man, Peter could've sworn he's seen him from somewhere. A movie, perhaps? But, why would someone from a film, likely a comedy one, end up here where the fate of a world was at stake by the message he heard before being transported. Then again, he had teamed up with multiple Spider-Men before, including a cartoon Spider-Pig. The veteran hero simply gives the Dude a quick nod in greeting.

"Same here," Spider-Man replies, "uh, Dude."

While most of the group was acting confused and shocked at the turn of events, one of them had an impressed look on his face. That man was Dr. Julian Bashir. "Well, Garak," He turned to face the very alien-looking man that was standing next to him. Though compared to Bashir, Garak's face was one of utter confusion. "You've outdone yourself!"

Bashir's joyful tone made Garak turn his attention towards the doctor. "My good doctor. I don't know what you mean?"

"Well, this!" Bashir motioned around himself. "It's a holo-adventure isn't it? You must've drugged me and dragged me into Quarks. I will say. I admire your...tenacity is what I would probably call it to surprise me like this."

Garak had a friendly smile on his face when he addressed Bashir next. "Julian, if I had done that. Don't you think I would have picked something less...colorful?"

"Ah but that's the trick isn't it?" Bashir countered. "You couldn't make it too obvious. So instead you concocted this uh, quite a ludicrous adventure."

"When I said I wanted to spice things up this wasn't what I had in mind," Garak replied back. "No, doctor. I'm afraid that this is not my doing."

Bashir chuckled awkwardly before getting a confused look on his face. "Seriously?"

"I'm afraid so."

"So what that voice said was?"

"Completely true."

Bashir stood quietly for a moment before saying into the air. "Computer. End program." To his dismay...nothing happened. "I think I'm going to need a moment."

"Oh, I'm sure you will. In fact, let me join you."

He cleared his throat. "I am Thancred. I would say it's nice to meet you all but these are not ideal circumstances, are they?"

"Is there anyone here who is familiar with this place or our situation? This world must be truly lacking..." She looked in the direction of the 'Dude.' "... if we were all summoned in this way."

Thancred, however, found himself caught on something else.

"Spider-Man."

He cleared his throat. "I am Thancred. I would say it's nice to meet you all but these are not ideal circumstances, are they?"

"Is there anyone here who is familiar with this place or our situation? This world must be truly lacking..." She looked in the direction of the 'Dude.' "... if we were all summoned in this way."

The masked adventurer lets a small sigh escapes his lips, "Well, I've been in a lot of non-ideal circumstances before." Peter explains, "One month before, I've been sent to another universe where I died. Years before that, I was kidnapped and forcibly kissed by a nutso 'Spider-Queen', and don't get me started on the Beyonder nonsense."

Spider-Man stops for a moment, as he places his fingers on his chin; furrowing his brows beneath the mask as he begins to ponder. The girl, Y'shtoia did bring up the word 'summoned'.

"Speaking of nonsense like this," the masked man begins to explain, "I've been in a situation like this before. Me and a bunch of other superheroes were brought together on a alien planet." Spider-Man began to gesture with his right hand, his left curled underneath his chin. "Well, the guy who brought us there so we could slay our enemies to get all that we desire. It was years ago, but I think he was testing us. Here, we don't have all the info yet as of now."

All things begin and end in shadow. Though, for one so low as him, so close to the shadows, the world would wish him farewell in light. Burning, accusing light. Enough to burn skin from bone, had he been any less of a beast, for the last thing he could recall from this world was that scalding light, reminiscent of the sun's rays, threatening to turn him to ash had he stared any longer. It would have been his end, had the light not been shunted away at the very last second.

He was almost free, for a moment, but fate would not let the beast rest. Servitude must survive above all else, and in this "new" world... it began with shadow, and then light, and the whispers of the wind.

The soft, bristling breeze moved over the surface of his skin as, amid the chaos of otherworldly travelers awakening, one of the many strangers sat motionless at the base of the great tree, hiding in the shade not too far from the unconscious boy, casting an overwhelming shadow from the glimpses of light that peeked through the great tree's leafy cloud. A dark-skinned samurai sat cross-legged, as if frozen, one muscular arm raised to grip the handle of an utterly massive blade shoved into the ground. His expression was stony and strained, even while unconscious, eyes shut tight.

The blade he held was almost as long as he was - overwhelmingly powerful, with a sharpened edge that glistened in the sun. A glisten that, with the movement of the clouds, sent a ray of light into his closed eyes. A quiet groan rose out of him, and his eyes fluttered open. Nagoriyuki shifted his blade on instinct, sending the light away from the face so that the subsiding glare could reveal what was staring back at him - an empty, green field, shaking softly in the breeze.

"... Hnn... where..." he began, his deep voice rising out of his chest, like clatters in an ancient machine. "... Where am I?"

He winced, raising his other hand to block what little light was reaching through the leaves. "... The sun is so bright. Could it be that- that this is...?"

Nagoriyuki licked his lips. A metallic taste on the tip of his tongue. His eyes drifted to the blade at his feet - the grip as familiar in his hand as it always was. The samurai sighed. "It is not. Hm, were I so lucky."

Nagoriyuki sat alone in a world that had no memory of, knowing only that it is not Heaven, nor is it Hell. It is too complex for the former and too simple for the latter. It had not been so long that he'd forgotten where he was just moments before the world returned to shadow - standing at the end of a battle, centuries in the making, with a woman who had dared to become God, a man who dared to become human, all orchestrated with the help of- the help of-

The help of that thing. That bastard. Chaos.

"Hnn," a hissing snarl left his throat, and his fist left his side, slamming into the side of the tree. The wood cracked and bent inward like tissue paper. "He is... he is not here. I cannot- feel him. Hm... perhaps, this may truly be Heaven."

He'd have to find out. Only when expressing his strength on the tree did his senses return to him, as a flood of voices filled Nagoriyuki's ear. He twitched, turning his head in the direction of the sound - and the scent - that trailed from the other side of the tree. He knew that they were not allies, for he did not recognize them, so that left only the chance of them being enemies. The samurai sniffed, tightening his grip on the blade as he rose to a stand, floating upwards by his heels, a blade at his hip.

"Summoned," a deep voice answered Y'shtola from out of sight. "Is one way to put it."

Those beneath the tree near the boy were greeted with the sight of a massive, looming figure, trailing behind him a white coat and holding in his hand a long, curved blade almost as long as he is tall. Nagoriyuki chose to keep his mask off, curious if these people would recognize him, and whether they would attack him on sight. Still, the samurai did not wear a friendly face, as he stopped a healthy distance from the crowd.

"Abducted is the word that I would use. Surrounded by unfamiliar faces - knowing none of them are friends, and not knowing if any of them are foes."

The samurai twirled the blade until the edge would face his enemies, drawing a finger with his free hand along the length until joining his other hand at the grip, lowering himself into a fighting stance.

"Identify yourselves."

"I don't know!" Azul said to the Dude, "I didn’t consent to this, either! The boys are probably worried sick right about now,"

His demeanor changed as his worry became more apparent, but with a few deep breaths, he turned to face the others.

"Nice to meet you all, sorry you had to see me like that, a situation like this, well, it's rather odd, wouldn't you say?"

Azul looked around at the surrounding area, seeing Bashir and Garak begin to panic, seeing the confrontation between the green-jacketed girl and several others, and the people surrounding the injured boy.

"It's... unlikely anyone knows where we are right now," Azul postured, scratching at his chin.

At Peter's comments about similar past situations, it seemed to baffle Azul, as he didn't seem to understand a single word he said, yet nevertheless, he could understand that one thing came out of Peter's stories.

The man had experience.

"So you've been through this kind of thing before?" Azul asked, "Being taken from your own world and being thrust into another?"

The boy's eyes stirred open, groggily looking at Atsushi, Aris, and Sougo as his eyes focused on them.

"Wh-who..." he managed to groggily say before he was fully brought to his senses by Nagoriyuki

The boy backed himself up against the tree, not even knowing it was already behind him as he held up his hands, showing no weapons.

"Woah, woah, woah, woah, hey!" the boy stammered, "Th-this must all be some misunderstanding! I'm not the guy you're looking for, I-I promise! I-I-I'm just a simple adventurer! Please don't hurt me!"

The boy's words ran like autopilot as if he had been in similar situations many, many times before.
