The Vampire's Apprentice

((Woo-Hoo!))

"Right, and I also need you to help me with some meetings and calls I need to schedule," Clancy said. "I will leave further instructions on the list this evening."

Somehow that sounded a lot more anticlimactic than she had expected it to. Kitty hopped lightly down the stairs again and went to wait.

Clancy shook his head in amusement at her excitement. He glanced once more at the little plant then went downstairs to wait with her. He lounged out on the couch comfortably.

Finding nothing outside just yet, Kitty snatched her novel off the kitchen table and plopped down beside him. She held the book on her lap, arms resting lazily over the hard, plastic-coated cover, but she didn't open its clean pages. She brushed a strand of hair behind her ears, and though her bright smile had since disappeared, she was still grinning.

"Nope." Kitty revealed the cover and looked down at it. "The Silver Chair, one of the Chronicles of Narnia books."

"Oh yes. I remember those books. They caused quiet a splash when they were rediscovered," Clancy commented. "The first one I enjoyed. I do not know why everyone skips it and goes straight to the second."

"Exactly!" She agreed. "I was surprised to discover there was a first one, but I suppose it's because The Magician's Nephew was written second to last, despite being chronologically foremost."

"Mhm." Kitty nodded. "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was the first to be written, though it comes second in the timeline. I used to have the whole collection in one big book, and the preface had notes on the order of it and such."

"Fascinating," Clancy murmured.
A large truck pulled up in front of the house, its breaks squeaking.
Clancy rose. "Ah, here it is. Come. Time to put the house back in order."

Clancy spent the next half an hour negotiating with the driver and the men who had come to help. He put Kitty in charge of the upstairs to ensure everything got put in its proper place while he took care of the downstairs.

It must be admitted, reorganizing was not one of Kitty's stronger points. A good amount of her time was spent tidying things, not so much putting them in a variegated order. Still, everything found its way to a place somewhere or another.

Once everything was in order, Clancy looked around and gave a satisfied nod before going upstairs. "Well done, Miss Kitty, everything has been restored," he said aprovingly.
