Clancy arrived home after three hours and took a moment to sit in his favorite chair and close his eyes. What a headache! Oh, how he hated bumpkins, and he still remembered when he was one! Paranoid about the government, paranoid about other governments, paranoid about shadowy forces that controlled the governments... honestly, if even one of the conspiracy theories considering the power and all-knowing nature of the government were true, he would not be alive right now, nor would a number of other beings, supernatural or not, but that would be far too rational and logical for some minds!
He gave another sigh. Let it go. Let it all go. It was over now, and he had arranged and made a solid deal for a very nice commission on a ridiculous sum of money. Not bad for three hours of patronization and not ripping the man's head off when he asked to see identification for the fifth time! Now all he had to do was deal with a few emails. And if the man abused email privaledges, then they would have a very stern talk.
He rose, stretched, and went to hang his hat by the door. Better. Home where all was peace and quiet. He was nearly to his office when he remembered Kitty's request, and he went to her room. Should he wake her? He was not so sure, but it would be nice to have something tangible to take his mind off of things.
He stood in the doorway then smiled when he saw she'd fallen asleep with her book. He moved over quietly and slipped it from her hands, marking her place before setting it aside. "Kitty?" he whispered.
