The Vampire's Apprentice

"Two twins with a dog, okay, and there's a damages fee deposit, refundable upon checkout," he said. "How many nights?"

He named a price and held out his hand for her card. "Just sign this paper here to get your deposit back as long as your dog doesn't break anything."

He printed off two cards and handed them to her. "Here ya go. Room thirty five. Just down that hallway and on you left. Er, right, I mean."

"Thank you," Kitty smiled. She retrieved the cards, her card, and went back outside to see if Norville was still around.

Norville and Sam were outside in a grassy area playing fetch. Sam was happy to finally be out of the car! He had enjoyed his nap, but he had so much pent up energy now! Norville threw the rope toy once more and turned to Kitty.
"Hey, how'd it go?" he asked.
He didn't notice the rope had bounced into the gutter by a parked car. Sam hadn't spotted the bounce, either, and was currently sniffing in circles, completely lost.

"Well enough," Kitty answered, glancing from Norville to the gutter and back again. "You know, he never would play fetch with the twins. I'm almost surprised to see he'll play it with you."

"He wouldn't?" He turned to look at Sam. "Oi! Haven't you found it yet?" he teased before turning back. "Maybe he just had to get bored enough."
Sam growled and started occasionally pawing the ground before trotting to Kitty. He plunked his backside down and whined pitifully. The mean grass hid his toy!

Kitty chuckled and rubbed the dog's head. "It went in here, you silly mutt," she told him, stepping over to the gutter where his toy was.

Sam grabbed his toy and bounded around in circles. His human was the greatest! She'd found his lost toy!!
Norville snickered. "So. Bags in the room then check out the next place to go?"

"Cool!" He hobbled over to the car. "We should park closer. I can grab my stuff and take it in. Will Clancy want anything?"

"You'd have to ask him that, honestly. I mean, there's his plant," Kitty shrugged, "but beyond that, I dunno."

He picked up the plant and looked it over. "It looks like it could use a drink, so why don't we take it in?" He picked up his bag and hung it over his cast so he could carry everything. "Where are we going?"

She nodded, closing the vehicle. They had to place their things inside, then they could leave. Simple enough, right?

"It's thirty-five," Kitty relayed, but went ahead anyways. "Do you think Sam would enjoy coming along, or should he stay here?" She asked, opening the door to their room.
