The Vampire's Apprentice

Norville looked at her blankly then slowly grinned. "Right! Norville Junior! He's cute."
Clancy glared at the pair of them. "That's nice. Put it back." He paused. "You do not have a goat, do you? The car did not smell of goat."

Clancy glared. Then he spun on his heel. "I am going to take a shower," he huffed in annoyance.
Norville moved out of the way and grinned at Kitty. "See? Told you!"

Kitty chuckled. "Uncannily so," she said, after the bathroom door had closed. "Thought, I bet he's just having a bad night. I probably would be, too, under the circumstances."

"I wonder how it feels to wake up in a trunk," Norville mused. "Does time feel like it's passing when in vampiric sleep?"

"You're the curious one with the book," Norville pointed out. "Did you get to show him the pictures with the Franklin museum and stuff?"

"When he gets out, you'll have to show him." Norville walked around to his bed and sat on the edge with his back to the rest of the room. He rubbed his arm then scratched at the edge of his cast, looking out the window.

"How long 'till you can take it off, d'ya think?" She stood and went over, sitting beside Norville on his bed, though left some space between herself and him.

He glanced down at his cast. "Actually... I was supposed to go today to get this one off. The walking cast has to stay on longer... something about that bone healing more slowly... but it would have been nice to at least get one off." He turned his eyes back to the very inspiring view of the parking lot.

"I don't see why it can't still come off today." Kitty watched him carefully. "Though, I'm not a doctor. You'd be better off asking someone more qualified."

Norville shrugged. "All I'd need is a hacksaw and some kind of thin metal to put between my arm and the blade. Doctor equipment isn't much fancier than that."

She snickered amusedly, then glanced down at her hands. "I bet fingernails would do it...." Kitty said, mostly to herself, then looked up. "His, I mean. Not mine. Though, I highly doubt such a... what's the word... grandiloquent, perhaps—but, a person like he would enjoy such an effort. Then again, I've been wrong many times before."

"Grandiloquent," Norville repeated thoughtfully. "Grandiloquent... doesn't that mean something like 'pompous?' I don't really think he's pompous. Maybe... aristocratic?"

He looked back down at his cast. "In any case, I don't think he would."
"Would what?" Clancy asked.
Norville jumped and swore before biting his lip. "Sorry, sir, you scared me," he stammered.
Clancy looked at him cooly, though the vampire was clearly in better spirits now that he had showered, changed, and preened a little.

Kitty looked over at Clancy, not startled in the least, though she hadn't noticed him until he spoke. She smiled. "Hello again."
