Which book, graphic novel, or other other form of 'book' media are currently reading/listening to?
I've been in the midst of Declare by Tim Powers for a while now; a dense story of WWII and Cold War Espionage -- but also, there's magic(?). Also slugging my way through The Friends of Eddie Coyle by George V. Higgins, which is extremely minimalist in prose and follows the lives of small-time criminals in 1970s Boston.
Ironically, I sort of picked up Eddie Coyle as a buffer book for when I don't have the attention span to focus on Declare, only to realize that its minialism and lack-of-context approach is even harder for me to focus on. So the dense, research-heavy WWII/Cold War espionage book that also involves ancient gods from multiple cultures wound up being the buffer book for the barely-200-pages, finish-in-one-sitting crime novel.
