Ancient Forest (1X1)

She smiles gently to him. "Okay. I'm gonna go back to my hut. Don' t stay up there too long." She smiles softly and heads to her hut to let him be.

After about half an hour or so he came down, going straight to the river. He didn't know that something had grabbed Sarah earlier, he just hoped that sitting near the water would help him calm down better than sitting on a high point would. He was willing to try anything at this point. He scooped a little bit of the water in his hands and splashed it on his face, the chill of it seeming to do something for his nerves.

Sarah had been relaxing in the hut, shivering a bit. Her ankle was aching again as she sat down. She tried to ease the pain as she sits there. Closing her eyes for a second a shiver moving through her. Something wasn't right.

Red sat still on the river bank, occasionally splashing more water on his face if he felt the stress coming back. He didn't think he'd attract any attention, nor did he seem to care.

As the splashing continued, there seemed to be movement in the water beneath the surface.

Sarah opens her eyes and looks around. A shiver moving through her.

He didn't acknowledge this movement, or maybe he just didn't notice it. Either way he sat back down and closed his eyes, letting his thoughts wander but trying to stay in the calm, less stressful territory.

The water moved again before it settled once more.

Sarah looks around again before getting up. Something wasn't right. She could feel it.

Something sounded off in the way the current was flowing, which caused Red to open an eye. His curiosity getting the better of him, he looked over the water, trying to spot what might've disturbed the current.

The water moved again before suddenly a long gnarled hand came snatching out of the water at Red.

Sarah was running towards the river. "Red! Get away from there!"

Red quickly jumped back at the sight of the hand, then glanced towards Sarah when she came running. "What the hell is that thing?!"

Sarah stumbled as she reached Red's side. The hand tried to grab again then sank back into the water. "I think it's what grabbed me before when I was swimming. I had a nightmare about it...i think someone is messing with us."

"It can't be human, otherwise it would've drowned by now. Has to be something supernatural. Yet at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same thing as who or whatever was trying to kill off your bloodline."

Curiosity started getting the better of him, and so he moved a hand through the water, trying to attract the thing again.

The hand reached out again but Sarah had pulled him back. The things claws scratched her arm slightly. "Don't do that again! It could kill you."

"I just want to see what it is... maybe we can make it useful if we can get the murderous intent out of it. Then again, from the look of it, that seems almost impossible..."

Sarah shakes her head slightly. "I don't think you can do that. That thing is evil and darkness." She says shivering a bit.

He turned to look at her, not expecting something like that to come out of her mouth. "I'm guessing your nightmare told you that?"

He sighed and stood up. "Fine. We won't mess with it. But that river is never going to be safe if it just stays in there."
